Inspiron 15 Gaming 7567 - Memory Upgrade HELP!

I just want to know if there is a QVL for memory?

For example, can I use;

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2400MHz CL16 1.2V SODIMMs (F4-2400C16D-16GRS) for a memory upgrade?

Or max it out with;

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 32GB(2x16GB) DDR4 2400MHz CL16 1.2V SODIMMs (F4-2400C16D-32GRS)?

Or perhaps I can use;

Kingston HyperX Impact Black 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 2133MHz CL13 Dual-Channel SODIMMs (HX421S13IBK2/32)?

E7450 freezes and has login issues after Windows 10 Creators Update

I'm starting to get really concerned. I can typically fix just about any issue, but this one is killing me. After installing the Creators Update, I'm now experiencing FREEZING issues for the very first time on this laptop. Not only that, but I've had to use the Startup Repair utility over 100 times in order to login to this laptop. Running in safe mode with networking works fine, so at least I can always get it that way.

This has to be a driver issue, but so far I haven't been able to isolate the offender. I also got it to work for about a day, but then my laptop installed another update and now the issue is back.

The day the issue occurred, I noticed that a new graphics driver, audio driver and touch pad driver was installed.

The FREEZING problem occurs when logging in normally. After a few seconds, the computer locks up. The login issue occurs a lot. I have to run the Startup Repair utility using the F10 method just about every time I try to login.

Anyone else having issues like this? Is there an app or utility that will tell you what driver is causing the issue?

I see this over and over in the System - Event Viewer.

New Desktop freezing

i purchased a new Inspiron 5675 desktop and it arrived this week.

I set it up and in the past couple of days when i boot it up after 10-15 mins of surfing the net it freezes that my mouse won't move and I cant do anything. After 5 mins of being frozen the screen goes black and the system seems to go in to sleep mode however does not turn off.

THe only way to get it going again is to hold down the power button until it turns off and start it again.

The computer is in a well ventilated area and no dust is around.

Any thoughts?

Fingerprint reader stopped working after Windows 10 update Vostro 14-5459

Hi

Have seen several posts but no solutions. After a windows 10 update a couple of months ago, the fingerprint scanner stopped working. It recognises me but then says "your credentials could not be confirmed".

Microsoft have sent endless messages blaming the driver, the scanner etc etc. Finally they say it is an issue with the update, but they have not solution at this time. Good old Microsoft and their helpful updates, which you cannot avoid.

Anyone have the same problem and how did you fix it??

So to start with I always thought dell was a good reputable company ,but after buying my new laptop I have learned otherwise. My problem started months ago with lagging and freeze ups among other problems . I called dell they worked on it some and said it was good to go . and for 2 days it was . Then the problem returned . I called back only to be told it was a software issue that I should contact Microsoft . I spoke with them many many times over the last few months trying to resolve the same issue .with them doing lots of installing and removing different versions of windows which had no effect on the problem that just kept getting worst . then I started getting a noise from inside the laptop right before it would freeze up . This time I was told hardware issue contact dell . I called dell back again only to be told I'm 12 days outta warranty . They will fix it if I pay up ! What kind of company wont stand behind a product they no ive been having trouble out of since about 2 months after I got it . I'm sorry but that's horrible . I'm a mechanic and if my customer is having the same recurring problems for months thers no way I'm gona just throw them to the side without a care in the world . I hate it to I was so proud of my new dell when I got it ,and now its the biggest regretful purchase ive made in years . So I would recommend that anyone who is thinking of buying anything from them not to . Once they get your money they don't care if the product works or not . I'm starting here telling everyone about how *** there company is ,but I will tell everyone I come across from here on out ,and will post on every social media site I'm a member of .  I think I'm gonna sit the thing on the counter at work with a buyer beware sign on it . That way maybe just maybe I can save someone else from the horrible service I received from Dell and there pack of barely English speaking tech people who are also rude!  

Blinking Capslock and dead machine after intensive I/O on Precision 7710

Hi Folks,

   I have a pDell Precision 7710 with 16G RAM and the ATI graphics card.  Whenever I do a lot of writing to either a USB 2 storage device or a SDHC card, the machine locks up with blinking caps lock light after a few gigabytes have been transferred.

I'm running Linux with kernel 4.13.0-rc1 (but the problem has existed on all the kernels I've tested back to 3.10), and have the latest BIOS.

To reproduce the problem, do

  dd if=/dev/zero of=//mmcblk0 ***=1M

with a 4Gbyte or bigger SD card in the slot, otr do a similar tansfer to a USB stick.

As many other users i also got battery swollen which initially shows up with raised touch pad buttons (and not working anymore).

The interesting thing is that when you send the pictures to dell they advise to replace the touch pad. Many of you could not know that Dell has changed radically approach to service. No authorised shops anymore, YOU MUST yourself turn into an electronic engineer, UNDERSTAND what is broken in your dell PC, request the parts and after delivering they will send a real engineer at your place. 9 times out of 10 the engineers admits the sent parts are wrong and then the whole process of ordering starts up again.

Are we going NUTS? Ask the users to guess the parts that they need to replace on a defective pc?

Plus very professional advise, having seen raised touch pad they should immediately have advised to order a new battery, but this is probably asking too much in 2017.

Good luck with your DELL guys, a NIGHTMARE made reality. I had a Dell inspiron in 2000 and it was the best laptop ever. NOw....better you transform your business into peanut distribution, lousy company.

My laptop has ATI mobility radeon video and it uses Intel.

Processor/Motherboard Upgrade & System Optimisation techniques in windows 10

Hi,

I recently bought a dell laptop running the following specs ;

Processor Intel® Pentium® CPU N3710 @ 1.60ghz
Installed ram 8gb
System type 64 bit Operating System   x63 based processor

I have tried to optimised my system using all the various self help guides that are available online. However I am still experiencing some lag and odd behaviour that I would like to eliminate. I am considering doing a clean boot of windows 10 to start from scratch.

I am also concerned my existing hardware specs are limiting the efficiency of my laptop. if I want to change my processor, I have to check if my motherboard can cope with the Intel Core processors that my desktop is running. How do I do this ?  I know chaning the processor will invalidate the warranty -so I will need to get someone in the know to do this for me ? Any ideas  ?

Dell inspiron 3542 problem

Hi

I just upgraded my Inspiron 3542 to Windows 10 Home Single Language edition. I installed all the drivers from the dell Drivers and Downloads website. I am having a problem with playing YouTube videos. Whenever I increase or decrease the volume using the built in volume keys the video keeps starting from 00:00 minutes. And whenever I push the seek to some midway of the video it gives me a blue rectangle line on the seek. Please help me . I am using Google Chrome with the latest update.

Can't register my TB16 dock

I've tried multiple times to register my new TB16 dock under my Dell account. Each time I was presented with the message the service tag couldn't be found. I've searched this forum and found a few posts reporting the same issue, but with no resolution provided.

For a few weeks, it wasn't an issue for me but the dock got broken and now I can't submit a support ticket with Dell. I've provided the tag, the photo of the dock's label and the proof of purchase, but they claim they can't find the dock in their system and want me to track the original Dell's internal purchase order number!

Obviously, the retailer I purchased the dock from is surprised and doesn't have a clue what I want from him. Moreover, they actually purchased this from the national importer (being Dell's partner) and they have no idea what the Dell purchase order number can be.

This is totally crazy - I don't think it should be me tracking the device if Dell's unable to locate it. I have every proof I've purchased it from the official distribution source and it should be Dell searching for it, if they need it. Now my dock is not working and I waste time with bureaucracy instead of just waiting for the replacement.

Regardless, since apparently I'm not the only one unable to register the TB16 dock with Dell, what is the issue?

Network adapter disappears after waking from sleep

Hi,

Using vostro 15 3568, I have this problem ever since I bought this, a few months ago. 

When the computer goes to sleep it will often wake up without the ethernet network adapter, it won't show on device manager, or anywhere else, the wifi adapter still shows. Usually to solve this I have to make the computer go to sleep and wake it again, this time the adapter appears.

Tried updating the drivers, disabling green ethernet feature, didn't work. I have wake on lan and "allow the computer to turn off this device" so I can wake the computer on LAN. 

Will appreciate any assistance,

Unlocking Inspiron 2 in 1 when in tablet mode

Hi

I have an Inspiron 15 7579 2-in-1 laptop and it is set to require Ctrl + Alt + Delete to unlock.  This works fine when I'm using it in laptop mode as I just enter the key combination and type in my password as usual.

In tablet mode (with the keyboard folded underneath), the lock screen offers the instruction "Press and hold the power button, and then press the volume down bottom to unlock.  (Or you can unlock by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete.)"  This does not work - it just puts the laptop into sleep mode as soon as the power button is pressed.  I have tried reversing the pressing order, i.e. press and hold volume first then press power.  I have tried changing the function of the power button to do nothing in control panel power options.  And then the button combination still does not unlock - it does nothing.

I've also tried swiping the touch screen - no response.  Nor is there any option to enable the on screen keyboard.

The power and volume buttons all work correctly for their normal designated functions, and the touch screen responds correctly in normal situations.

All of the drivers are up to date, according to Dell diagnostics. 

It does unlock with a simple screen swipe when Ctrl + Alt + Delete is not enabled, but unfortunately disabling this is not an option for me.

Would anyone have any ideas on what to try next?

XPS 13 9350 doesn't charge past 75%

It has been a few days since this happened and because of this issue, my laptop lasts barely 3 hours when I'm out! I've updated my BIOS, run the battery diagnostics and even went into the setup menu to check for errors but the all the tests indicate that there is nothing wrong with the battery. 

When I leave my laptop plugged in, it'll say "plugged in, not charging" when it hits 75%, but when the battery goes down to 74%, it resumes charging and then stops once it reaches 75%. I'm worried about this causing damage to the battery because charging starts and stops every other minute. 

Any idea what is happening or is anyone facing the same issue? Did I toggle some sort of an "extend battery life" option, which stops the battery from being fully charged, unknowingly? My battery warranty ended 3 days ago....... :-(

Dear Dell,

I bought my XPS 15 in December 2015. The battery is swelling and lifting the trackpad above the laptop case.

I am finding the trackpad increasingly difficult to use, and I am afraid that the battery will rupture and destroy the computer and/or injure me!

I went to your site to obtain a replacement battery. But the site says you no longer offer the battery for this computer model!

So, after 1.5 years, having spent over $1,600, you decide to drop support for a product?!

I only have Dells, 2 XPS desktops, the XPS 15, and I just bought an Inspiron 15 5000 on June 3, 2017.

How about some help?

Hi all,

I have a Dell Latitude E7440 with win 10 and it seems I'm not able to enable the vt-X option requested by virtual box. I checked the bios and all virtualization options are enabled. with an intel tools it seems the processor doesn't support the virtualization, which sounds strange, infact people from intel confirmed that the processor does support it.

can someone please help me?

Lot of BSODs on Dell XPS 15 9550 with bugcheck 0x00000154

I have a Dell XPS 15 9550 with 512GB SSD (PM951 NVMe SAMSUNG 512GB) and I caught a lot of BSODs with bugcheck 0x00000154. WinDbg shows that BSODs were (probably) caused by hardware_disk. I have installed Samsung Magician to get the latest firmware but it does not support that disk. I have asked Samsung support for new firmware but they said that they could not provide it to me.
Check disk does not detect issues with the filesystem. All drivers update were installed.
So, the question is it a known issue? Is there any new firmware for PM951 NVMe SAMSUNG 512GB?
