My Dell XPS 9550 has a problem which makes the laptop unusable on a soft surface such as a lap or a bed. If the underside of the laptop is slightly bumped or nudged, the laptop will shut off immediately with no warning. The laptop will also instantaneously shut off when the right arrow key is pressed with usual typing force (even on a hard surface such as a desk). This doesn't happen with any other key on the laptop, however if the area just below the on button is bumped, the laptop will again, immediately shut off. I was wondering if anyone has had or knows of an issue similar to this and what might be causing this to happen?

m7710 does not see newly installed m.2 ssd
I recently purchased a m7710 with a 500GB mechanical drive with Windows 10. I just installed an m.2 NVMe drive in one of the slots. In BIOS general information, it sees the new drive; however, when I boot up, the system does not see the drive.
Any ideas are much appreciated.

XPS 13 9350 turns itself on and sometimes won't turn off.
It is unpredictable and it happens a few times per week/month.
Sometimes it won't turn off/hibernate/sleep (it just blinks and goes to flight mode instead).
Sometimes after being off for hours it will spontaneously turn on (the noise wakes me up in the middle of the night) and it remains on and super hot until it drains all the power in the battery.
I talked to Dell support for hours, they updated driver, I had already updated them, but the problem continues. I always update to the latest drivers but the problem continues.
Any suggestions?

Touchpad not supported on Latitude 5580 Windows 7 ?
On 2 brand new Latitude 5580, the touchpad is not available under Windows 7 x64.
It's not listed in device manager. It works fine in the bios screen and in Windows PE.
On the Dell driver page, all drivers are available for window 7 except the touchpad one. Strange!
Tried the latest and the previous bios version. Legacy and Uefi boot.
At a certain moment after reinstalling various chipset, etc drivers at once one unknown device appears in device manager. If I look at the properties I see ACPI/DLL07A8
When I google on that, I got one result from a suspicious driver sites which listed it part of Alps touchpad?
I checked various alp drivers from the dell site, bit the inf file is missing the DLL07A8 model, so driver is not installed.
At the general tab of the device, I see Serial IO L2C host controller. What is this? Is touchpad making use of this controller?
I hope to hear if someone got an idea, or DELL could fix this with an update?

Major overheating on laptop with small games.
I got the game Shovel Knight witch is a small 8 bit game, and before even starting to really play my laptop was extremely hot. Is this a problem with the computer or maybe i should buy a bottom thing with fans for when i play a game.

Inspiron 5559 (FAN MALFUNCTION)
Hello Dell community,
I have a problem with me Inspirion 5559 i7.
It all about with FAN... it started to make some unusual load noise ...and when i have time i did diagnostic when i reboot. the fan dint respond so I continue and suddenly the fan work again, and again another loud noise every time I finish playing games, and one time suddenly my laptop shudown itself while I'm playing
I do vacuum at the ventilation area, and still same problem,
I did reboot and Error says:
Fan- The fan failed to respond correctly ( Previous Fan ) Fan Malfunction
Error Code 2000-0712
i brought this Dell last December 2015.
Can someone help me on this, cuz im afraid if someday this laptop it will not open.

Dell XPS 13 keyboard lag post warranty motherboard replacement for coil whine
Hello all,
Owner of a Dell XPS13 9350 which had coil whine audibly apparent from the top left corner of the keyboard/base and was at its worst when connected to AC.
After living with this issue for several months I finally decided to contact Dell Support.
To their credit, a week later a technician came to me to replace my motherboard.
This is unfortunately where my new problems started.
Immediately following the replacement, the keyboard was displaying an obvious pronounced lag between key strokes and anything registering on screen. The tech suggested it would improve with time, or that he could come out another appointment to reinstall windows.
Since this work, my laptop has been, for all intents and purposes, useless.
I have created a usb live boot of ubuntu which has displayed the same fault.
Windows 10 was also re-installed to rule out that possibility.
So, currently, I am left midway through study of the most difficult subject I will be studying, with a laptop that is completely useless for taking notes. As the laptop was purchased purely for studies, this i understandably frustrating.
Also, during this repair, the speakers on the laptop have stopped working!
Attempts have been made to contact Dell Support Australia, but they do not seem to appreciate the urgency of the situation.
Would any members here know of any further steps I could take to try and resolve this issue as quickly as possible?

Dell XPS 15 (9560) - touch screen stopped working
Hi everyone,
Before going to Dell service (since, for some reason, while being a top device owner, I cannot use Dell's email support), I'd want to ask if anyone else has/had any problems with touch screen.
System specs - 4k touch display, SSD 512, RAM 16G, Core i7 7700HQ.
Symptoms - out of the blue touch screen stopped working in the middle of the day (no prior reboots, not drivers updates, no software intall). I was simply using it to draw some stuff - and display stopped responding to touches.
I've checked Device Manager - touch device driver is there, no problems. Did reboot, did USB device checks, did Dell's online hardware check, did disable/enable touchscreen device - no results. The touch screen stays dead.
Last drivers update was done a few weeks ago (Intel HD Graphics video drivers to fix system freezes).
Did anyone have this? Any known fixes?

First start Dell Inspiron 15 7000 - Where is English Language ?

I just get new laptop and it should be with Windows 10. First I tried to check the hardware configuration and see Windows desktop. But fail. It looks like hardware works but I got blue screen with some forms and cannot get at all what to do here, because the language is Poland! Laptop even talks but I cannot understand anything. At initial screen I choose the language and country (English/Ukrane), but at next screen it is still Poland and no way to get back or change to English. Why is it still Poland?
When I stick with that, I find Quick Start Guide on paper, coming with laptop, and it filled with few languages, and I can understand it, but it not contain description of the screen I see now. It possible, that blue screen is "Finish windows setup" at some step ... though I not sure, as I not used windows 10 before.
How can I get it works in English?
How can I get to windows desktop and start work?
PS: I get laptop over post, and was not able to get help at place where I buy it. It would be nice if it possible to fix this myself, instead of repair service.

XPS 15 9550 NO BOOTABLE DEVICES Windows 10
I have been having problems with my XPS 15 which original came with a 1tb hdd and a 32gb ssd. I recently replaced the hard drive with a 2.5 inch sata ssd and removed the on board m.2 and installed Windows to it and it was giving me frequent blue screens and drive was not being detected until I restarted until one day it would boot.
The drives suddenly stopped being recognised in the Bios whenever I am in ahci mode.
When I switch over to 'raid on' the drive suddenly show as a boot able partition
My windows installation was done in ahci
When I try and boot it gives me white text 'f1 to return to boot menu' ect. And it doesn't boot.
My device passes the dell diagnostic test and all drives and os boot path are shown working
My SSD is working fine when I place it in another computer.
My windows install doesn't look corrupted. All partitions and boot files look good
Nothing will boot in AHCI mode not even a windows usb
I am at a loss and really need this computer to work preferably without reinstalling windows

Driver CAB vs Dell Command | Update
Hello team,
Am trying automate driver installation. Created PowreShell script to install driver from the CAB file(E5470-WIN10-A07-117FH). Script ran successfully.
However to cross verify i ran Dell Command | Update command & found another 624MB drives applicable.
Can you help me how to interpret this?

L701X BIOS flashing without battery
Hi guys,
I have a L701x with a non genuine charger, so I can't charge my battery (the bigger original one from Dell for this laptop). I need to update the bios to the A10 release, but it can't be done, cause the bios app tells me that I need to have >10% of battery charged.
I've tried a lot of options to bypass battery check, but without success.
Can anyone please help me in updating bios without battery check?
