Hi all,

Recently I bought a Dell Vostro 15 5568 laptop with this spec:

• 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-7200U Processor
• 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
• NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 940MX 2GB GDDR5

The system is working like a dream, but I would still want to upgrade both the RAM [want to add 8gb extra] and also add a 1TB HDD. Here are my questions:

1. I went through the descriptions and found out that the 8GB RAM which is currently installed is a C17 2400 260 Pin DDR4 2400 MHZ SODIMM RAM, I was wondering if I can buy a RAM which is 2133 MHZ or should I find the exact match. I am from India and I don't see much options to buy the same kind of RAM which is already installed in amazon.in.

2. I am also planning to add a 1TB HDD to it as I feel the given 256GB SSD isn't enough for my daily need and I don't want to carry an external HDD everywhere I go. Is there any specific dimension HDD I should buy? Is there any kind of HDD which doesn't work with this Motherboard? Should I buy anything apart from HDD for it to work?

Could you guys recommend me which RAM/HDD I should go for it to work?

I have recently purchased the new 2in1 xps 13. It is working fine. The one problem I have is that I cannot get the screen to rotate when in tablet mode. I seem to have tried all the available settings, but nothing will work except resetting the orientation to portrait mode permanently then switch to tablet mode, then swich back etc. surely auto rotate must be available??

Hope someone can help here, I have a number of issues with this laptop and to be honest, I am just about getting sick of it. 

I have done a number of factory resets and reinstalled windows 10 from the recovery partition but I am unable to fix any of the problems listed below. 

1. Power and sleep

The computer shuts down instead of sleep when the lid is closed. I have checked all the power settings a number of times. It just shuts down and does a full boot when lid is opened. Data is lost every single time. I have tried a number of solutions on this forum and other forums, but none of them work. It seemed to be a bios issue with some people, but I am on the latest bios.

2. SSD issues

Samsung magician fails to see the NVME SSD. 

Magician says its an unknown drive and is not supported, even though I booted from it. It is set as RAID in the BIOS, I have tried to set as AHCI and it still shows as unsupported.

3. Touchpad settings have disappeared in win10

After rebuilding the PC from recovery, I can no longer access touch pad settings in the control panel or mouse settings. I have tried to manually install the synaptics drivers, which are successful, but the settings still fail to appear. I also tried to manually remove the devices in device manager as someone suggested in this thread, and that didnt work either. I need to change the touch pad settings asap and I am unable to no matter what I try. 

4. Graphics drivers constantly updating.

After every restart, the dell update utility is constantly trying to update the video drivers even though I have updated them with the same driver. Basically every restart, the drivers are updating with the same driver version.

I bought a Inspiron 5000 series back in December 2015 and have just got it out of the box. After using my trusty studio laptop for many years without a problem, the wifi signal on my new laptop is bad. I feel ripped off.

I was wondering if I were to buy a new motherboard for the laptop which doesn't come with a graphics chip, which chips would be compatible and would work on this motherboard.

Hello, 

For some reason my XPS 12 2 in 1 running windows 10 now says that it is plugged in but not charging. When I start up the computer I get stoped at boot with "The battery charging is temporarily disabled. Press f2  entering BISO setup menu. Battery status for details. 

You go into the BIOS and go to Advanced and under battery it says "This battery is temporarily disabled. reseat the AC adapter and try again when the unit is back to operational temperature.

Nothing is over heating !  What is wrong !

I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 15-5555 Labtop that is extremely slow. I have run computer diagnostics and do not have any issues that appear. Startup is slow, opening the web or Microsoft office products etc. is extremely slow. MY 7 year old labtop runs just as fast as this brand new labtop.

My son's computer won't connect to the internet. It's an Inspiron 14 using Windows 10. Last thing I did was reset the computer, but I have the same problem. I keep getting "Windows did not detect any networking hardware."

All the other computers can get online, so the issue isn't the router.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

My new 9560 exhibits inconsistent behavior upon lid opening. I have it configured to sleep when the lid is closed so I assume that is what it does. The computer should awaken immediately on opening and present the login screen and that is what happens when it has been left for short periods. However, when left for longer periods like overnight, the system appears to restart when the lid is opened. I don't know if it's coming out of hibernation or rebooting but it isn't simply waking up from the sleep state like it does after being left for a short period of time. Sometimes nothing happens when the lid is opened and I have to press the power button. Any thoughts on why this is happening? The system appears to be losing sleep status after being left for longer periods. Could this be a symptom of a hardware issue? It does this whether it's on charge or not.

The issue is setting the password on the BIOS.  

Lets assume the laptop has no BIOS password set.  If you try to configure it with CCTK, there is a SETUPPWD field which allows you you specify the new password.  If you then export the file to exe, it asks if you want to specify a current BIOS password.  If a password is specified here and there is none set already on the laptop, the new password is not applied.  

This causes issues as I want only one configuration file and not have to worry about if the laptop already has a BIOS password set.  If there is no password set, why would it care?  Just apply the password!

Hi All,

the key 5, 6, F8 and F9 of my dell XPS 13-9350 don't work.

My computer is new. I don't think this is the hardware problem because when sometimes i try to press Ctl + Fn + Alt, they works.

So,
I checked the BIOS when my laptop started not being able to charge, and it said that the battery was in excellent shape but the charger wasn't recognized
Replaced the charger

Charger is now recognized, Battery is in excellent shape
Still doesn't show up as charging.
Did a diagnostic test, battery is fine. Charger replacement is new and Dell brand.

Battery jumps to 95% when unplugged, eventually jumps to 100% while plugged up, never shows as charging.

If i can't build a PC, should i modify one? i was looking at a Dell Optiplex 990 MT it had an i5 2400 which i have no idea is good for modern gaming, if Ii don't know which one would be better, thus if did add one I'm 3 GPU's would i have to upgrade the PSU? (im looking for a GPU, an SSD and upgraded RAM 8 or 16GB o RAM all this would be under a $50 price tag)

I have a Latitude 5480 came with 4GB memory and quad core (i7-7820HQ). I want to upgrade the memory to 32GB. According to the Owner's manual, it can support "4 GB and a maximum of 32 GB DDR4 memory, up to 2400 MHz (quad core)." 

So I got two Ballistix Sport LT 16GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM [http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/bls16g4s240fsd] but cannot get them to work. When it failed, it would not boot and the status light kept blinking. Here is the result:

Hey guys,

So I bought a XPS 15 9560 16gig ram, with 512 ssd, i7 FHD screen, it arrived 5 days ago and I loved it, its simply the best laptop ever. However, I am met with a strange issue, my headphone jack is useless, not as in the widespread problem with it but its physically useless, every headphone I tried to plug in, is literally not pluging in, like it will go in and just fall out...

So out of curiousity I took some pictures of the headphone jack and put flashlight next to it to see what is going on, and this is what I got:

Is this suppose to be like this? Am I doing something wrong? or am I right for assuming the worst is that dell didn't physically put a headphone jack assembly in my laptop? Please help.

Thanks, oh and if it is the latter, I'm going to return it and never touch dell ever again, its quite insane how poor the QA is.

Earlier today my alt key was working. Then suddenly it stopped working, i restarted and it worked again. I came home and the alt keys are broken again. Its been like this for 4 hours. This is 3rd time this has happened to me and i am tired of waiting 2 weeks to repair it.

this has happened several times now where i would close the lid on my laptop and place it into my bag and come back to it with the fan running full blast and the laptop being very hot when i open up the laptop i can see the screen is still off but the power button led is still on can someone help me fix this

When the latest Windows 10 Update came out, the Tips showed using a stylus to write and some other creative things. This isn't a normal stylus. I have looked all over for one that is compatible with Inspiron 15-7579 2-in1, and resembles what I am seeing.  I have yet to find it.

Any ideas?
