Hard drive Failed 1545 Laptop, no windows sticker, any solution?
I have a dell 1545 laptop my sister gave me because the drive died, I can't get anything off it even with a linux disc it's just locked up, there is no windows sticker on the bottom of the unit, and she had not made recovery discs UGH
I have plenty of sata drives around but without their product key for windows is there anyway thru the service id tag or anything to get windows back onto this machine without buying another copy of it?
I know there are programs i could use to recover the product key via the old drive but i can't even get the drive to boot up externally or via a linux recovery type cd.
It's not a super old laptop just that drive died, I was going to replace the drive load windows on it and have the kids use it for simple open office reports and to goof on facebook and whatnot with it.
I know I could just load linux on it, but i'd like to get them back into windows, but with a dead drive do I have any options?

Hello! My name is Mason.
I am normally really good at understanding computers and diagnosing problems but this is.. confusing to say the least. I got a Inspiron 1759 back in December and out of the box it was filled with issues and after almost a year, I still cannot figure out what the problem is. Maybe someone out there has had this same experience.
The symptoms:
BSoD caused by these processes: ntoskrnl.exe, FLTMGR.SYS, igdkmd64.sys, WppRecorder.sys+eeada3c0, storahci.sys+9d101086 and many more
The computer crashes every 3-5 hours but it sometimes will crash nonstop for a 30 minute to an hour long period
Computer will freeze for 10 seconds to 60 seconds at a time
Internet Pages will randomly crash
Windows applications (.exe) will crash and throw crazy error messages
Screen pixels randomly appearing for no reason (ie black rectangles appearing on the desktop)
Windows 10 functionality not responding
Things I have tried:
Upgrading all of my drivers manually
Disabling the NVIDIA Graphics Card
Disabling the onboard Intel HD Graphics
Reinstalling Windows 10 like a million times
Installing Linux (also runs very strangely but not as bad)
Checking the RAM with bootable tools (The ram is fine)
Installing a second HDD Hard Drive
I first thought it was the SSD Harddrive but if it was a bad Hard Drive, there would be a lot of unaccounted for symptoms. Then I thought it was the graphics card but I tried disabling both and the problems continued. I literally cannot figure out what is causing this issue. Maybe it is a faulty motherboard.. I hope not :(
Anything can help if you have the time to spare! All I know is I want a new computer that is usable.

Got my new xps 15 xps for photo editing, and my quetion is how the *** can I enable that sweet touchscreen option in photoshop?? I NEED that!! Its one of the main reasons i bought this laptop!

D3100 docking station - mouse and keyboard is very laggy, high CPU usage

I got dell laitude 7270 model and recently purchased the D3100 (DisplayLink) docking station. I believe it used the USB 3.0 to connect the laptop to the dock
I got two external Dell screens (normal wide screen with max 1920x1286 resolution not 4K screen)
We experience laggy, delay when using mouse and keyboard. It does not matter if cord/cordless or plug in directly to laptop or to docking station
Using laptop by itself dont have that problem
It prove to me the limitation of USB 3.0 bandwidth create this issue
Not too sure if Dell is aware of it and make any improvement. I have chat with ProSupport but so far only recommendation is to upgrade laptop to latest firmware

Registry cleaners-good or bad?
I have three quick questions:
Are registry cleaners , such as CC Cleaner, helpful or harmful, a necessary thing or not? I have used the CC cleaner before, but I saw that MS recommends against them. Any comments?
Second: I see a Bios update available for my laptop, Dell Inspirion5000 series, 5459 qnd 5559. Is it a good idea to install this? Helpful or harmful? Necessary or not?
Third: an update for Intel Newtork. Same questions.
My laptop running Win 10 is working fine and I do not want to screw it up.

M6800 no USB device with WINPE
In OS i can work normal. I can see and access every usb device i plugged in.
I have my backup on external disc. After reboot, the software cannot access in boot mode or when i boot WINPE with the backup software USB-Stick, the external USB-Hard-Disk. The external harddisk is a WD MyBook 4 TB. I also tried a second one, but i can also not reach him.

Inspiron 3521, refurbished/replacement motherboard, HDD password message
Ok I purchased a Refurbished motherboard to replace my broken one on a Inspiron 15 3521. When I installed it and powered it up it is asking for a HDD Lock Password. Why? Especially when its not the Hard Drive that originally was Locked with the password, Its a brand new HD. Called Dell and they kept telling me to hit F2 at start-up and it would go into BIOS. NO it does Not. I kept repeating this to him and he kept telling me I'm wrong. Then he gives me some other 800 to call and hangs up. Why isn't it booting? What do I need to do? Anyone Please. Oh and the other number he told me to call was Dell Credit Dept and they were closed...like the could help anyway.

Dell Inspiron 15, Hard disk related issue.
My P.C has started giving an error.
"No internal hard disk found". Press F1 to restart F2 to run setup utility F5 to run PSA.
When I go to setup utility there sometimes it shows the fixed HDD, and sometimes there is written "None"...
When I ran diagnostics, initially it did not give any error about hard disk. But now today diagnostic showed a message that "Hard disk not attached".
I have to restart again and again to reach operating system.
Operating system also gave the error thrice "Your P.c have some issues"
today the Stop code was Memory management.
What could be the problem....??

Precision M4600 dock USB 3.0
Hello,
when I plug my flash drive or HDD into back slot of my PR03X with USB 3.0 Windows shows "This device could be working faster, plug it into USB 3.0" (or something like that)..
When I try it with my Latitude E7440 in dock it works fine. Also USB on M4600 works good.
Is it because my Precision doesn't have generic USB 3.0 support, or I just need some driver? I have installed newest USB driver.

Inspirion 7720 SE 17R gpu 650m lost connection
This problem started a few years ago , the gpu will not boot and i just needed to flush the bios and the gpu became useable again but in the last month even that won't help.
what i mean is during usage ( not even 50% / thermals are below 80c ) the gpu will make the whole computer stutter and one of two things will happen : the computer shuts down and blue screen is shows or the computer freezes.
if im lucky the gpu will disconnect himself and that will cause a 1-2 *** stutter but the laptop wont restart and a bios flush will make the gpu useable again.
this useally happens 3-4 mins after the gpu is used by a game ( not specifc )
and yes i tried to re install everything and even of fresh win7/8.1/10 installs it still happens ( all stuff up todate) so... any solution?:|

E7440/E7240/E.... keyboard trim for trackpoint-less (=upper mousebutton-less) keyboard
Dear Dell community,
the E7440/E7420 (and I think many others) has keyboards with (e.g. 04W6PV 08PP00) or without trackpoint (e.g. . RXKD2 0RXKD2)
Subsequently the upper mousebuttons (A12AN5) can/should be removed (which is possible).
However, then I would need another keyboard trim covering the space where the upper mousebuttons have been.
I haven't found any different keyboard trim than 29FWC 029FWC (the one with a recess for the upper mouse buttons). I also didn't find a "filler" for the upper mouse buttons.
A trackpoint-less keyboard can be installed in a laptop with the upper mouse buttons still in place, but it's rather tight and the mouse buttons cannot be pushed properly any more, so should be disconnected.
How do I properly convert a trackpoint-enabled laptop to a trackpoint-less one?

Inspiron 5559 Battery draining.
Hi,
I have a dell Inspiron 5559 Core i7 6500U 2.5GHz laptop. I lost my dell original charger then I bought a charger from a local store. I'm from Sri Lanka and unfortunately there is no Dell Store here. So many local retailers are saying that "WE ARE THE OFFICIAL DELL PARTNERS" but I believe none of them are authorised dealers. The reason I said that is that's why I bought the charger from a local store.
That salesman ensure this is the correct charger for my system but after few weeks I realise my battery life is decreasing faster than before. Very recently I have replaced my Ram with Kingston HyperX 16GB kit. (8GB Ram came with the system) I noticed that battery draining was after this Ram replacement. I'm not sure which one is the reason for battery draining. But Dell Power Management application shows " Battery Status: fair" ..
My Question is what should I do? As I said there is no original part distributor in Sri Lanka as far as I know. I have checked the Dell official website but it says they have been discontinued supplying the relevant battery module which is suits for my laptop.
1. Is there any way I can purchase a one in online?
2. Even if I bought a new battery would that charger will effect in a negative way for the new battery as well?

Windows installation not completed (Inspiron 17 5000 series)
A couple days ago, when I turned on my Dell Insprion 17 5000 series laptop, there was an error. The recommended action was that I get a new hard drive. So, that's what I did. I backed up all my files onto a hard drive, deleted my old hard drive, removed it and replaced it with a new one I got in the mail. After installing the new one, my laptop began installing and after a while this message popped up: "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer restart the installation." I hit okay and the entire process starts all over again.
Now, I've seen videos saying to hit Fn+Shift+F10, but when I do that and type "secpol.msc" or "gpedit.msc" it says that it is not recognized. I am a complete computer noob, so I missed a step or something I wouldn't know. Any help would be appreciated, but if no one has any suggestions, should I send it somewhere to be fixed?

Charging port broken and power cord damage
Hello. I have a dell inspiron 5559 laptop. A few days ago I dropped it on the floor while charging and the port was hit by the ground. The charging port became a bit loose but it was working fine. But after some days it started showing "pluged in not charging". I took it to my local dealer and after diagnosis they said the power core (which supplies power to motherboard) is damaged and need to be replaced. But the parts are not available in the local market yet. So he suggested me to replace the charging port and charger jackk with parts from a different model. Does it work? Is It safe? Mine is 65 watt adapter with small radius pin and the replacement will be 90 watt adapter's jack (bigger radius) and port. My expert says this will just pass the power from charger to motherboard. Is he right? Should I go with his suggestion?

I have a Dell Inspirion N7010 Laptop with the following specs:
Motherboard: 08VFX1
Bios: A11
Processor: Intel Pentium P6100@2.00 GHz | 25W | Arrandale
Socket: 989 rPGA
I'm looking to speed up this machine a bit. Kinda old and slow. Was wondering what processors does this Motherboard support? Is there a list somewhere? I was thinking maybe an i5 Dual Core maybe quad core if this board supports it. Does anyone have any answers for me?
