Dell Alienware 14 Laptop upgraded to Win 10 Version 1703 (Creators Update) and mouse is disabled after a few seconds in Edge and eventually in Firefox, and then complete freeze. Checked drivers and they appear to be up to date.  Could it be a problem with my GeForce GT 750M driver?

My Dell Inspiron 15 - 5567 PC has crashed!! Help!!!

Hi,

I've just purchased a Dell Inspiron laptop 15 - 5567 laptop (Scratch and Dent) from the Dell Outlet and it has already crashed upon first use. I had switched it on and managed to set up a username and password and proceeded to customize my PC when it suddenly showed a 'System Error' message (20% complete) and that the PC needed to restart.

I waited for the PC to restart automatically but I don't think anything happened so I think I tried to restart it myself. But when I switched my PC back on again, it just 'hangs' on a PURPLE screen that says, "Just a moment..." I have waited for over 45 minutes and nothing happens!

I've tried switching it on and off again several times but I get the same purple screen with the same wait a moment message each time I try to restart it again. A couple of times upon switching the PC back on again the Dell logo would show before showing the purple screen again. But most of the time when I press the restart button it would go straight to the purple screen.

Does this mean that there is something seriously wrong with it? Does this sound like a serious or minor fault? I really wasn't expecting this upon first use.

Can anybody out there help????

Thanks!

N :)

Latitude E6410 No internet access wired connection

My wireless connection works on my Dell Latitude E6410 but I get a "No Internet Access" error on my wired network. At the end is a IPconfig output.  The line "Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.205.60(Preferred)"  concerns me since I am on a 10.0.0.xxx gateway (ARRIS TG1682G)

I am running Windows 10 pro and I have gone so far as to do a fresh install of Win 10 in order to try to fix this problem.  I have checked my adapter settings and all are set to auto for IP and DNS.

I have also ran a Dell hardware Diagnostics program (partial output below) that said the  internet adapter was good.

HardwareType                                  Diagnostic Name             Result
Intel(R) 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection TCP/IP Internal Loopback Test    Passed

I have tired manually setting the IP, DNS, gateway,  etc.  but still get no internet access.

I have checked via the Dell site's program that all my drivers are up to date.  I updated my BIOS to A16 (newest).  I have also reset the gateway and computer several times.  Other computers on the network work fine.  I NEED HELP.  On my new install all networks are public but I had forced them to be private on the old install.

Finally here is a screenshot of "network and sharing center":

PCI-E Bus speed limited / AC replug sometimes helps

$

Hi there,

I have an issue with my Dell M6700, latest bios and chipset drivers (Dell site).

My PCI-E bus is usually stuck at 1.1x16, insteda of 2.0x16, resulting in my nVidia K4000M running on minimal speed and being locked there, regardless of gpu load, power profiles or settings.

When not in the docking station, replugging the AC sometimes helps it go back to 2.0 speed and normal GPU clocks.

Any idea what might be causing this?

Thanks for any input!!

Best, Andrew

Vostro 3560 won't start without battery

If I try to start my laptop without batteries in 2/3 cases nothing happens. In 1/3 of the time on release of the power button [Power] and [Wifi] indicators light up shortly, then everything goes dark again.

If I put in the battery and press the power button everything works fine. (The battery is shown as charging when cable is plugged in as well.) I can even remove the battery(cable plugged in) and it won't shut down!

I've been using my laptop without battery in the past and it worked just fine. I realized this problem after reassembly but I hadn't used the laptop without battery for a while so the cause might also be landing a little too hart some months ago.

WM615 Bluetooth Mouse Frequently Disconnects

I bought this WM615 Bluetooth mouse with my XPS 15 9550 laptop. It and works fine in general, but every 10 minutes or so it disconnects and reconnects. In other words it pauses for about 20-30 seconds.

I have tried changing batteries but the behavior doesn't change. Is there anything I can do to make this thing more reliable, or does anyone have experience with a Bluetooth mouse that is more reliable?

Inspiron 5755 Crashes constantly

I received an Inspiron 5755 as a birthday gift in November. Since then, I have been having an issue where it will crash multiple times a week (sometimes multiple times a day). I have run every diagnostic Dell recommends but to no avail. I even followed their instructions TO THE LETTER that resulted in bricking my laptop and having to send it to Dell for repair.

This is extremely frustrating that a practically new laptop has this issue. All of the "solutions" that I have been told to try so far, have not worked at all.

I thought maybe it was the network card causing the crash because it only seemed to crash when I was using WiFi but now it has starting crashing when connected with an Ethernet cable.

Attached is the crash report

Inspiron 7567 - New SSD not showing up in windows 10

Hello guys! I recently bought a Micron M600 2.5" SSD drive for my laptop but it won't show up in W10 disk manager, device manager or diskpart.

I currently have the stock 256GB M2 SSD installed and want to use the new 2.5 SSD for game storage, however in BIOS I can see the 2.5" SSD if I disable secure boot but again not in W10, already changed the setup of SATA from Raid to ahci and still not showing up.

If I install a normal HDD it will show up in windows without any issues.

Have also connected the SSD with an external caddy and it's fully working and being recognized by W10.

My laptop model is the inspiron 7567 Core i5 variant.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Inspiron 17 7737 Touch screen suddenly stopped working...

So out of nowhere, my 7737's touch screen has stopped responding to touch.  Mouse works just fine.  Device manager has the monitor driver listed as a "generic PnP monitor", which sounds suspicious... and under Human Interface drivers, there is nothing listed for touchscreens, just airplane mode ***...  I have restarted, driver updated, etc. to no avail.  Any ideas?

Booting from USB

I have an Alienware 17 R4. I have no problems with it.

I have created a windows 10 Recovery USB drive (there is no optical media drive)  and would like to test this.

How do I boot using this.

I have a copy of Acronis backup and recovery software and would like to use this to recover in case something bad happens (i.e. hardware failure, ransomware attack etc.)

I can create the media.

I can press Esc while booting and select F12 to get to the boot menu but nothing I try seems to enable one to boot from my USB drive.

Are there any step by step directions I can use to accomplish this.

DELL XPS 15 9560 dead

Hi All,

Here is what happened

1) I bought a DELL XPS 15 9560 few days ago.

2) Today, the system prompted for some pending updates and restart, so, I went ahead and re-started it.

3) After reboot and installing updates, there is no network connection. The system says, there are no connections available. I checked the networking device, there are no errors and everything is fine.

4) I read online that there might be an incompatible driver which got installed as part of the update which is resulting in the networking (WiFi) driver to not work correctly.

5) So, I decided to reset the system to factory defaults.

6) Upon resetting the system to factory defaults, it is not booting at all. A blue screen comes windows (BSOD) and mentions on an error code: INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE.

After step 3 I did run diagnostics on the system and there was a failed test:
How should I proceed to resolve this?

BSOD errors now can't find OS -BEEPING- - Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720

Win 7 upgraded to Win 10 via free upgrade
I7-3610QM
8GB ram
1TB SSD

The BSOD errors started a couple months back or maybe longer. Every several weeks i would get a crash and since it was about 1/month i didn't worry too much but did move files to the cloud. The last week has really ramped up and the crashes were almost every day. I took some screen shots. I'll put them in order. After several of these BSOD restarts the computer would go straight into downloading updates. One of the pics shows when the update froze. Because of this, i thought maybe it was a recent update that was the issue. There were a few screen glitches and strange linear sections of pixels that flashed across the screen right before 2 of the crashes (see error#2). I went online and tried to search for a fix for the IRQL... error. I can across a link to a suggestion to run a command code driver verification command. I was never able to get it to work and ran the reset command. Not too long after, one of my next BSOD errors was about the DRIVER VERIFIER DETECTED VIOLATION. See error #4.

I tried to do the Windows diagnose problem option and it found nothing. Windows troubleshoot offers to restore to previous point 3/29/17. I tried that and it would not work. I also tried the Windows startup repair and it did not work. Next the computer locked up and as i tried to do a HARD shutdown it wouldn't turn off and then started BEEPING at me and sounded like it was coming from somewhere (underneath) other than the speakers. The screen went black but the SSD was still running. The edges of the screen showed that it was still active. It finally shut down. I waited several hours and turned on the laptop.

I talked to a computer friend and he suggested a clean install of Win10. I finally contacted Microsoft and DL a copy to USB. After a clean install all seemed ok but there were a few issues with drivers. See pic. I DL'd teamviewer and installed. Before i could get my account open I got my first BSOD error since the clean install. See pic.  I tried downloading the drivers from Dell but the speed was super slow so I downloaded them on my desktop to a USB and started running them. (video drivers) The network driver did not work. It told me it needed to restart to make the drivers active. I went to the power button to restart and it said update and restart so i selected that option. It restarted 3-4 times and each time the power button still said update and restart. Finally it seemed to be up to date. Shortly after I got a black screen and it said something like unable to locate OS.

Dell Battery Type: D5318

My Dell Inspiron 6000's D5318 battery has a weird problem that I've never encountered before with any battery. It has 5 capacity LEDs, and it goes in a weird pattern. Only three light up, the top, the middle and the bottom LEDs. The laptop seems to be affected by this too, as when it is inserted into the laptop the battery charging/warning LED malfunctions.

Is there anyone who knows what is happening?

Using the Media Creation Tool to create a bootable USB flash drive?

$

Hi,

I have a couple of questions. I have an Inspiron 5758 laptop with UEFI.

1. If I create a bootable USB flash drive for a Windows 10 clean installation using the Media Creation Tool ..will I have any problems with Secure Boot being enabled when i install Windows 10 with the created USB? (I don't really want to be messing around in the BIOS disabling Secure Boot) Ive read that if you format the USB to FAT32 before downloading and using the Media Creation Tool that everything will be OK. The article I read said that it stops the Media Creation tool from attempting to Format the USB with NTFS. It said that was what used to cause the Secure Boot issue. Does anybody know if this is correct or not? I would prefer to use the Media Creation Tool method as long as it works with Secure Boot enabled rather than using Rufus...if it works correctly?

2. For future reference..Can you use the created Windows 10 UEFI bootable USB flash drive to directly replace damaged or corrupted files?..i.e if Sfc and DISM don't work? Years ago if you had a missing or corrupted system file you could repair/replace it by putting in the Windows installation disc and it would copy it directly from there...or cant that be done anymore with a USB flash drive?

Thanks
