Inspiron 7559 random freezes
Hi! So I've been experiencing random freezes up to now and I don't know what causes them. The weird thing is, it doesn't happen when I'm gaming or anything that requires a lot of memory. It usually happens when i am browsing or just doing minimal tasks. I have run a hardware diagnostic but every test passed. I also experienced this the first day i got it, but i ignored it thinking it was just because of updates. Now the freezes are back and it is much more recurrent. My laptop is only a few months old.
What i usually do is to hard reset every time this happens. Can anyone please give me a solution for this?

Dell Vostro 5470 Windows 10 Pro x64 not shutting down
Hello, I've formatted the computer 3 times to solve the non shutting down issue, so I'm starting to believe is somehow hardware related.
I was using Windows Insider Preview (fast ring) and then (slow ring). Last December, the laptop stop shutting down completely. It starts the process, video is black, no sign of disk activity but the on/off light start on and the fans are running. Only way is to hard power off with the button.
Reinstalling Windows from scratch solves at first boots, but then start failing again. I've moved to slow ring of Windows Insider. No luck. Then for the Windows 10 Pro that I'm running now.
All updates from Windows and from Dell Detect System were applied successfully. I've tried to run Intel Update tool. It detects the network driver could be updated, download and applied successfully, but no luck, the computer does not sleep completely nor hibernate.
I've tried disabling Hybrid sleep mode. I've tried to disable Hibernation all over (powercfg.exe /hibernate off) without working.
All seems well with the computer, excepts the shutting down process.
Can anybody help me? Thanks.

Bios disc for Vostro
Changed system board on Vostro 1000. Will not boot afterwards, but PC is trying to read optical drive (CD station). I need to have a Flash BIOS update program CD to restart my PC. Can anybody help by sending me such a CD, or tell where I may get one? Would be most grateful.

Dell Inspiron 14z 5423
Recently I bought a new LCD screen for my Inspiron 14z 5423 that I bought back in 2012. Recently the screen broke and I went to the PartsPeople website. I got a new screen with ease. Then I saw that my laptop was sold with a Core i5 motherboard with AMD Radeon discrete graphics. My laptop has the Core i5 integrated graphics motherboard. The website said that the motherboard is compatible with my laptop. I purchased the motherboard along with the screen. A few questions I have is if it actually will work with my system. I have been searching for the fan needed for the new motherboard, but are there other things I will need. My laptop has been updated to Windows 10.
If possible, can someone tell me if this is actually compatiable and if it will work, or if there are things I will need to do. Any information would be great.

Can I send in my Dell Precision 7510 for a 4k screen upgrade?
I recently bought a Dell Precision 7510 off eBay. It does have a warranty, although I don't think that would make a difference in this case, as this isn't exactly warranty related. I just wondered if anyone has ever paid a premium to have Dell upgrade a screen or otherwise. I can get the screen itself off eBay for a decent price, but I'm uncertain if they are the same connector type.

Inspirion 15R "Battery Not Charging" Problem Solved
In another very old thread that I could not add to, one writer suggested removing the battery and running the laptop off the charger.
So I removed the battery. The charger was already connected to 120VAC so I plugged the connector into the laptop with the battery removed.
The screen flashed for one blip and went dark. So I pulled out the connector from the laptop. Screen flashed for one blip and went dark.
Repeated with same results.
Then it dawned on me that the laptop was only seeing power just before the connector reached its end of travel. So I inserted the plug into the laptop and pulled it back out about 1/16".
Problem solved. Power supply was good. Battery was good. But mating between connector plug and socket was not connecting at end of travel. Pulling the plug gently out of the laptop just a fraction of an inch did the trick and I am back in action.

Inspiron 13 7347 remap FN key to CTRL and speed up auto rotate
I have an 13" Inspiron 7347. Is there a way to remap the 'FN' function key to another key such as 'CTRL' control? Also is there a way to speed up the auto rotate when I flip the screen to tablet mode? Right now it takes 5 second which is quite long. Thanks.

Latitude 7470 processor frequency
Hey,
I have a new 7470. Power profile is setup to allow min frequency down to 5% on battery, max up to 100%. Pretty standard profile for on battery.
When I unplug the laptop (no programs running expect task manager and performance manager) the frequency drops to very low, as expected. But over the course of the next minute it works it's way back up until it's at 100% and never goes back down again. It's killing the battery even before I start doing anything!
Throughout the whole time, the cpu load is remaining super low (averaging below 5%)...so there's not some service killing the processor single handedly. There are however a TON of processes running since our IT has about five different versions of virus scanners, malware scanners, etc...but none is taking up many clock cycles.
Not knowing anything about the details of how Windows determines it can lower the clock speed...any ideas? Is there maybe a bios or driver update I could ask my IT folks for that may help? Is it just the number of services running regardless of their actually processing
demand? Am I just screwed a long as they keep all the corporate bloat waste on there.

New XPS13 will not charge via the power companion PW7015MC USB-C cable.
Hi this is going to sound strange but does the XPS13 actually charge via its USB-C port on the side. We just brought an XPS13 online via dell and it came with a power adapter that charges via a 4.5mm round input connection. We also ordered the power companion PW7015MC as recommended as an accessory. the power companion charged up to full by using the power adaptor that came with the XPS13 (yes all five little lights were on saying it was fully charged and we pressed the button on the companion that also put a small blue light on the end of the USB-C end but it will not charge up the XPS13 via USB-C. To experiment we used the power companion and the 7.4mm adaptor cable that was also in the box and charged up a latitude laptop we own. It was recognised instantly and it powered up from 60% to 80% in a short period of time. I am assuming that if we try and track down an adaptor that has a barrel USB-C end and a 4.5mm round plug end then this would work on the XPS3. But what I would like to clarify first is the XPS3 is supposed to be able to be charged via the USB-C port? Its tech specifications we read online when we ordered it said it was!

Dell XPS 13 backlit key settings?
I've just bought a new dell xps 13 9360, and I was wondering if anyone knew if it is possible to change the settings on the keys to keep them backlit all the time not just when I'm typing? I've had a look in the windows mobility centre but can find nothing there.

Remap function key and change auto rotate time?
I have an dell inspiron 13 7347 laptop. I found myself hitting the FN function key all the time when I need the CTRL control key. Is there a way to remap the FN and CTRL keys?
When I flip the screen to a tablet format, it often takes 5 seconds for the screen to auto rotate to the right orientation. Is there a way to reduce the time required?

Dell XPS 13 9350 battery issues

I think I did the worst choice ever... I bought this Dell XPS 13 on last February which was replaced on summer, because I had problem with the grafic card probably ( couldn't connect it to an external display).
This is an i7 proccesor 6560U, 16G ram 512 ssd... and infinity touch display. running win10 pro
the main reason that I bought it was that the battery lasts up to 18 hours like it says to the dell's site.
I am not new to this of cource I know that 18 hours are unreachable but I was hoping at least to 9-11.
on the contrary the battery does not last more than 4-4.30 hours. with normal use... email serfing on the net , youtbe....
I have the latest BIOS of course ...
I had even left the laptop on the Bios screen open to check how long it will last with no apps running in the background ... same result ... 5 hours at most ..
the battery was replaced 2 month ago with no improvment ... same with the new battery as well.
I have turned the touch screen off, bluetooth as well... everything that I could in order to increaase the battery but with no result.
I also run the battery test according to the dell's technicians advise, with the result saying that the battery is in good condition.
According to dell all theese are normal... but for me is unexeptable. My macbook pro is 5 years old and the battery lasts 4 hours !!!!
this is my expirience from the top model of dell!!
any advise before I through it away?

Plugged in, not charging issue on inspiron 15 5557
Hi everyone,
I brought this laptop (inspiron 15 5557) on 29th December, it was perfect until yesterday. As mentioned on the topic,the message popped up on my laptop and I couldn't turn it on without being plugged.
When the laptop is plugged and turned on, the battery icon is black and it looks grey-ish. If I place the cursor to the icon, the message 'plugged in and not charging' appeared, and if I click the icon it mentioned '100% fully charged'.
I have tried to update the BIOS file and drivers through support assist. But the updates couldn't be installed properly somehow. Every time after reboot, the same version and type of update remains in the 'Driver and Download' section. Initially, I have seen BIOS update released in August 2015, and I have been installing it for more than 5 times until another BIOS file which is released on 5th Jan.2017 appeared. Now, the BIOS file is installed (hopefully), but the chip-set update with same version and release date is still not installed yet after updating and rebooting for more than 10 times, which is:
- Intel Serial IO Driver V30.100.1519.7.A00 (Release on 27th August 2015) 11MB
Also, there is constantly an update notification coming from 'dell update', same as the chip-set file, I have been installing it for 10 times, but it is still here....
Back to the battery issue, I have tried to uninstall and re-install the battery pack, but still without being plugged in, I cannot turn it on.
It would be great if anyone could give me a hand on this situation, because this laptop is literally new brought and I will need to use it somewhere without a plug. Thanks.

I'm currently in Greece and can't find a local reseller retailing said laptop. Dell.com (US) where the laptop in question seems to be available in also doesn't ship to Greece.

Inspiron 5559 - can I turn off the click sound for the touchpad buttons?
I'm a big-time right-click and open in new tab user, but having the buttons "hard-click" sound every time I click on something is going to drive my housemates nuts.

Inspiron 13 7378 dual channel mode
Hello,
I purchased a 8GB micron ddr4 module and added it into slot 2. Slot 1 has the original dell 8GB Micron ddr4 module.
The modules are Identical in specs per cpuid. All 16GB of ram is recognized but in the bios "System Information" under the General tab the bios says it is in single channel mode. I bought the additional memory so I could realize the boost in video graphics speed. Dual channel mode operation is important for a system that uses shared system memory for graphics.
Is there any way to set the bios to dual channel mode?
