I had 3 previous laptops with FP reader and all lit up when active. I just got a brand new Latitude E7450. The reader didn't work at all initially because the firmware was not installed. A technician got it to work (after 90+ minutes) but it still does not light up. He said nothing when I noted that and asked if I needed anything else which, of course, means Good bye. I figured I would call someone else next week, He said the techs that know how to work the FP readers don't work on Saturdays. ???

Could someone here save me another painful call or give me better footing?  He really didn't seem to know the software issues at all.

From the Download/ Drivers page However as the update was running it got to the point where it shuts down the computer.

When the computer started to boot again I heard a click and it powered off, I left it alone, but it was simply powered off for a good half hour or so.

Now when I try to turn it on it will power up the Led buttons then after 3-4 seconds there is a click and everything powers down. 

The computer will not post. Is there a way to restore the Bios, or am I sol?

I have a scandisk Z400S in my Inspiron 7559 and according to userbenchmark.com, I am getting terrible 4k read and write speeds. 

My 4k read speed is about 8MB/s(average for all Z400S's benchmarked on userbenchmark.com is 24 MB/s), and my 4k write speed is about 25 MB/s(average is 84 MB/s).

The only possible cause might be that I seem to have some trouble installing the latest I/O driver from the dell website. 

The installation says it completes successfully, but then Dell Update continues to suggest the driver as if it did not install correctly. 

Aside from this, I have install successfully all over recommend drivers from Dell, in the recommended order.

Hi ,

I bought Dell Latitude 3460 from Amazon yesterday. I checked the warranty and found it already started 2 months back. Also I donot see my name associated with this system which may deny me a service when I seek one. What are the implications of  these two conditions of this buy.  Is there a work around ? Is there anything  I should be  doing?

Dear all,

I got a dell inspiron 13 7000series laptop with windows 10.

Following an auto update, the laptop battery was not charging.

I could solve the issue by a system restore. So, it looks  that this is not due to a hardware problem.

Could anybody help me is getting a solution for this,

I have a 6 year old Dell laptop-  Inspiron 15 N5030 that has a slow Celeron 2.2 ghz- 800 Mhz 1 mb.  that I would like to upgrade to something faster.  I can do the job myself as I have repaired many but not sure if this is possible ? on this dell.

  I  replaced the defective hard drive with a solid state a few weeks ago and never could the network drivers for windows 7 to work so being I had the DVD upgrade for windows 10 I used it and it loaded the MS wired and wireless drivers
 
   .I never got the Dell recovery disk so I used a windows 7 home DVD  I had and used my product ID and it worked except for the errors in device manager relating to network. 

Windows 10 took care of that problem but it is slower than windows 7.    I have 6 gigs of ram installed so it should be much faster with a better CPU ? if that option is available. 

I would put windows 7 back on it if I could find those two drivers but I used everyone on Dells site for this service tag and they would not work ?  I have upgraded several desktops over the years with faster CPU's just never a laptop.  Any tips of which one would work if  that is possible ?

  If this is not possible could someone please tell me where I can get the network drivers for this N5030 ?  The ones here will not work as I spent several hours trying.  Thanks for any help on this.  I do like windows 10 but this CPU just is not powerful enough to drive this laptop.  Tom

I have everything working on this used Latitude  E6330 laptop purchased recently from Dell Financial. Well almost!

I had a working USB 3.0 controller when I installed a purchased on eBay Reinstallation DVD Windows 7 Professional SP1 32-bit dated 2011 P/N M1T3F but I had several issues that lead me to install from an Reinstallation Image on the Support Page for the E6330 using FNNGH_4D7C4A00_W7SP1PRO32_ENG.iso which is a Reinstallation DVD Windows 7 SP1 32-bit but updated to a later date. The E6330 was not released until 2012 but the Installation media lacks any E6330 specific drivers!

The BIOS has been updated to A17 for the Intel i5 running in 4GB in 32-Bit mode.

Everything goes great and I get everything installed and Windows Updated so the are no more updates and whenever I try to install the USB 3.0 Hub Controller Chipset_Driver_THK45_WN_1.0.8.251_A05.EXE either immediately after installation or later after all the Windows Updates have been done the System still panics with a BSD with a message about turning RAM caching or shadowing off in the BIOS.

Well, first things first, there is no option to turn this feature on/off directly in the BIOS.

It is my assertion that the Chipset_Driver_THK45_WN_1.0.8.251_A05.EXE is seriously faulty!in this configuration! Is there some other way I can load the Dell USB 3.0 Hub Controller driver besides this executable? Just download the device driver without the Install program?

I mean I have a totally operational system minus any USB device support. Pretty *** useless.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi there,

I'm having dell inspiron 3521 laptop. My battery is 4 cell (40WAh) and recently it was permanently failed. So, i decided to replace it with new one. The question is if i replace my 4 cell battery with 6 cell battery, will it leads to any problems? Can some one please help me to resolve this.

So about an hour ago, I got a little clumsy and bumped my Inspiron laptop against my dresser on the way into my bedroom. It was powered on at the time and immediately turned off. It wouldn't turn back on again until I popped the battery out and put it back in. When it did power on, it said there was no battery detected, yet it still ran fine. I thought that maybe if I plugged it into the charger, it would detect the battery, but that didn't work. So I restarted it.

Restarting seemed to do the trick at first. There was no batter not detected message and so I thought everything was okay until I unplugged the laptop. It immediately shut off. For anyone who might be wondering, the battery was fully charged and working perfectly fine before my accident. The laptop runs normally, but it keeps going dead the moment it's removed from the adapter. Any help determining the cause of this is appreciated.

Have a 2-n1 that I purchased a year ago key came off got brother ( major in IT)  to replace the key. After a hour of him taking the back off key was not fixed, instead computer is plugged in but not charging  in addition to touch screen not working and system is still very sluggish. Contacted Dell the tech's reply was that motherboard had stopped working. Tech never did a remote diagnostic on the laptop either. We tried to restore default settings. Ideas on problem please.

I have a brand new  XPS 13 9360 running Ubuntu. When I connect to an Ethernet with the DA200 adapter the network connection breaks and is restored repeatedly. The USB adapter seems to be at fault here, the kernel log contains these messages:

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5737 with Win 7.

Hi guys, so yesterday I was changing some values in the registry and I was asked to reboot the system. It never got done, as a BSOD occured.

The BSOD error message is 0x00000074. I can't turn the system on in a safe mode as well - I get the BSOD too.

My only choice seemed to be formatting the whole thing, but when trying to boot from the CD, a message I get is:

Realtek PCIe fE Family Controller Series v1.34 (10/07/13)

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable

PXE:M0F: Exiting PXE ROM.

No boot Device Found. Press any key to reboot the machine.

That makes my laptop basically useless. Is there anyway I could fix the toast?

Hello all,

               My Laptop Dell 5559 has a Tru-Hd display and maximum resolution is 1366*768. I feel the display is Choppy. Is it due to low Resolution? If so, Is there any possible way for me to smooth it by using my Graphics card somehow?

If nothing is possible, can I change my screen to 1920*1080?

Hi,

        I have the latest bios and chipset versions and I can't turn off the windows backlight by default and my windows mobility center doesn't show any advanced options regarding keyboard backlight.

Dear Dell Community,

I have a problem, which has not been answered in these posts:

As you can see, after installing then "Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework"-Driver, I only have 1 option to choose from, which is "TDP High" for the i7-5600u CPU from my XPS 13 9343.

What do I have to do to get the "medium" and "low" option in the settings?

 I have tried lots of process to charge my laptop battery. I have 45 wt adopter. 
My friend have same model laptop. SO I took his adopter tried to charge my battery but it's not working . But when I put my friend's battery and charger on my laptop, his battery is charging. I also try my battery on his laptop with his adopter and also mine adopter but battery is not charging. Currently  my laptop working with my adopter power and battery level 0.  
So what's the problem? Do I need to change both my battery and adopter  ??

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS 17 L701X. Bought august 2012.
Only modification is an SSD. Problem didn't start after the installation of it.

Problem:
Fan speed is most of the times at max speed. Fan even spins when system is idle after start up.
Even when just browsing with a few tabs open the fan is at max speed.
On battery power, with net power (with and without battery) gives the same result.

Already done:
-Cleaned out the insides
-Changed thermal paste
-Complete system reinstall
-Shut of background programs

What else is possible to do? The noise is irritating. The temperature of the CPU is still +75°C according to Speccy.
