Over the last 2 days I have been having a problem as indicated in the title of this post. The fault has rectified itself 3 times, but again today, it is back to "battery plugged in, not charging." As I am running the laptop (Windows Vista Home Premium; 32 bit) on the adapter without problems, I assume that the adapter itself may not be faulty.

I also have a Dell Inspiron 630M laptop running Windows 7.  Can I safely use that adapter with the Vista laptop, without causing damage to the Vista ?  If it is safe to do so, and the battery on the Vista starts charging, then it would indicate that the Vista adapter/charger has some kind of fault.

Hoping someone can give me some guidance. Thanks.

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 17R and have had to replace the hard Disk as the old one died. I am using the Windows disk that came with the lap top but I get a blue screen . Please see attached image.

Can someone help me get this up and running.

Hello. I have two Dell Vostro laptop series - the old (though it is still quite brisk) 5470 and the new 5468. In 5470 there is a remarkable functionality is - disable tochpad when the mouse is connected. In 5468 I did not find such a function. Maybe you tell me how to enable this feature or how to disable the touchpad quite Windows 10?

Hi all,

I have a Vostro V131 with BIOS version A05 (released in 2012-03-02). I access Dell site to check if has new version for V131 model and saw that A05 do not exist more . At Dell site only have a version A04 with release in 2014-07-14.

What is wrong with A05 that is not more available? Is A04 more recently that A05?

What speed is the mSATA/micro PCI socket in the Laptop? I've seen some say they got a card working but it was only running at 300MBs.

Hello,

I can't reload Win 7 on this nice old Latitude E4200. 

Repair and reload from restore from restore point don't work, always bombs out with Win restore error detail "Bad Patch".  (There is no 'Dell' option in the repair/ diagnostic menu.)  So, I downloaded a boot image to USB port as instructed. 

On Win7 re-install from USB boot, Step 1 diagnostics and Step 2 backup worked cleanly, but wouldn't proceed to Step 3, with the following error: Samsung SSD PB22-JS3 FDE TM 128GB: "Cannot get Smart status".

Can anyone please enlighten me?

Our wireless network has about a bazillion devices connected. to it. To reduce the load, I have always used the Latitude's Power Management BIOS setting under Wireless Radio Control to 'Control WLAN Radio'. With a wired docking station this turns the wireless card off for everyone at a desk. In recent iterations of the E7270 and E7470 laptops, the BIOS setting is ignored and the wireless card stays on no matter what. Different versions of the BIOS and different versions of drivers seem to fix this, but what the ***. It affects every single machine I update. Basically, I should pick an old set of drivers and BIOS and never update again if I want this feature to work.

Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Lately the BIOS has been updated to 1.07.03. Wireless driver is Intel 18.40. "Wireless Key Hotfix" driver that used to address this issue is A02. Does anyone else see this or use this feature?

Besides rolling back drivers and BIOS, does anyone know a fix? This was one of my favorite Latititude features. Now it's broken on all my new machines. I manage about 20 of these systems and any of them that are recent I have to either roll back drivers, BIOS, or something, or forget about this feature which stinks.

Hello! I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop several months ago (new) and last week it stopped charging. I sent it back to the manufacturer and they said the AC adapter needs replacing, is not under warranty and I need to pay them ~$159. Can someone tell me why it's not under warranty and if this is true? Thanks.

When I turn on my Inspiron 15 - 3552 the Support Assist comes on and says Hard Drive - Not Installed and when I click on Continue the computer shuts down. What do I do now? My laptop is still under warranty.

Hi,

i've got my XPS 15 9550 since june. Yesterday for two times while i was on internet with firefox i got the blu screen  "Dpc watchdog violation "  and laptop blocked, there was a counter stopped to 0% for restarting. The only solution to restart was keeping pushed the switch-on button.

i checked for updating the drivers but the system told me that they are at last version

Please help

I just bought a brand new Inspiron 15 5559 that comes with Windows 10 Version 1511 and I want to upgrade or swap the HD with an SSD.  I did some reading, a lot of reading and I found mixed replies some which were not applicable to me.  The main issues that remain are as follows:

1. Can I plug the SSD on this model to the optical drive?  Is the optical drive Sata 2 or 3?  Or should I plug it into the HD slot?

2.  How do I go about transferring Windows, drivers, etc to the SSD?

Any help and extra tips or advice is appreciated as well!!!

Hi!

DELL Latitude 6520 with Dell Wireless 375 Bluetooth Module, Windows 7 home premium, newest driver.

I cant make him see my devices. I cant open settings. Cant add any device.

Sometimes apears a message: "Your Bluetooth radio is turned but is not dicoverable. Only those devices that are paired with your computer can see it. Click here to change this setting."

I click and nothing hapens.

Hi, my touchscreen hasn't been working for a while now; I don't know what's caused it. I ran a diagnostic on the touchscreen and find a message that the selected device could not be found: "the device driver for your selected diagnostic is either not installed or installed incorrectly." I have gone to Drivers and Downloads and after updating all my drivers, the same message still appears that the driver is not installed or incorrectly installed. HELP.

Hi Everyone,

I desperately need some help here. I recently sent in my laptop for a screen repair at the Dell depot. I got it back last week and the screen works fine, however, for some reason they reinstalled Windows 8.1 on my system. When I sent it in, my laptop had Windows 10 and was working perfectly normally.

Last week a Dell technician helped me to reinstall Windows 10. The process started, and as it was installing it performed a restart (as it said it would perform multiple restarts). Well during the restart the computer just hung up on the Dell logo. i let the computer sit like that as I didn't want to interrupt the installation, however eventually my laptop just turned off.

I then had to order a USB stick from Dell in order to reinstall Windows 8.1. This time, another Dell technician helped me out but made sure all my drivers were up to date. Same thing happened during this upgrade. The installation got hung up on the Dell logo. There were no signs of any computer activity (no spinning circle under the logo).

I can't believe this issue has been going on so long now. I feel like since I sent the laptop in with Windows 10, Dell could have the decency to send it back installed. Their techs seem to want to help but are getting me nowhere.

If someone could please help I would be so grateful. Thanks!
