Dell I7559-5012 M.2 SSD

The reason I am contacting you today is about the M.2 hard drive configuration on the laptop. I know the ability for the computer to use a PCIe 3.0 M.2 is there but is the Bios is only set up to recognize a SATA III M.2. Do you know if there are going to be any BIOS updates that will allow for a PCIe 3.0? I do not want to install a SATA III M.2 if I can wait a little while and get the better one and not waste money.

Latitude E7250 - doesn't detect my Windows 7 Professional USB reinstallation drive in UEFI mode

So, I've been trying to get all of the machines in our organization up-to-speed on the latest standards.  I figured that, as long as anyone is getting any NEW machine imaged and set up for them, that machine might as well be set up in UEFI mode, with GPT partitioning, as those are the latest standards for PCs.

We have a lot of Dell machines, and I have had no problem getting tons of them booting to my Windows 7 Professional installation USB drives, in UEFI mode, and installing a build of Windows in UEFI mode, using GPT partitioning for the drive.  E6320s, E6430s, E6440s, all work fine.

The Latitude E7250 doesn't even detect the USB drive that I plug into it, that has worked flawlessly for so many other machines.  I have the latest BIOS (A13).  Secure Boot is disabled.  I have tried plugging in the USB drive in a USB 2.0 port on the E-Port Plus docking station.  I have disabled USB 3.0.

The machine does not detect USB devices in UEFI mode.

This is a laptop that costs north of $1,000, Dell.  For real?

Dell XPS 13 powers up after lid is closed and put to sleep

I have an odd problem. I've noticed that when I close my XPS 13, it shuts down (as indicated by the annoying front LED) but then later on it will start back up while it's being transported. Sometimes I'll get home, take it out of the computer case, and it will be as hot as a thermal missile because it's been running.

I'm not sure why it would just randomly start up like that? I have the power options to "sleep" when lid is closed, as seen here: http://i.imgur.com/p0x1C86.png.

I don't believe I have malware because I have reset my computer to factory settings on multiple occasions and scanned with SpyBot and Windows Defender.

In Bios "Wake on LAN" is Disabled.

For the life of me I can't think what would be triggering this besides the NSA (I joke). Does this happen to anyone else? Did you find a fix for it? Was it a dell program? Or is there a faulty piece of hardware on this computer?

Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :)

XPS 15 9550 and S.M.A.R.T.

I run a XPS 15 9550 system with Windows 10 Pro and a Samsung NVMe 951PM SSD in Intel RST RAID mode.

I used on a clean install below driver and have not had any problems with the system or the SSD itself so far.

downloadcenter.intel.com/.../Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-RAID-Driver

I am interested in S.M.A.R.T.  data, but CrystalDiskInfo-v7.0.0 does not show any data, nor can above SSD be monitored by Acronis Drive Monitor-v1.0.566 via SMART.

What am I missing, or does a RAID system just not allow SMART readings?

Thank you and please explain in detail.

Still having this issue

Since my original post more keys have failed or are starting to fail and I have tried looking for solutions. My conclusion is that the ribbon cable underneath is most likely the cause of failure, or maybe the cabling/membrane of the keyboard itself, or the actual connector on the motherboard/daughterboard. Many people are ending up replacing the keyboard, however due to my findings I recommend if you're going to try to fix it yourself try looking for the entire palmrest assembly as the keyboard is a p.i.t.a to have to replace on its own.

At this time I no longer feel that this supposed "2-in-1" is capable of being more than an oversized overheating tablet. Dell needs to acknowledge there's a design defect and offer a resolution to us!

Inspiron 15 7000 SERIES Laptop Facial Recognition AFK

When leaving the room where my Inspiron is, I will often leave the screen open and the laptop will go to sleep and the screen will turn off like it is supposed to. However, after leaving the room and returning about ten to fifteen minutes later, I find that the screen has turned on and the camera is actively taking pictures trying to use the facial recognition function. I don't know how long the camera was actively taking pictures but when I felt the camera, it was incredibly hot, suggesting that the camera had been taking pictures for a while and draining a good amount of battery. This has happened on numerous occasions and I enjoy the liberty of not having to close my computer down every time it is not in immediate use. I was wondering if there was some way to prevent this from happening other than just always closing the screen when the computer is not in use.

Thanks

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 Touchscreen laptop. I wish to know whether a Dell Active Stylus would work with my laptop, which currently runs the latest version of Windows 10.

Got a xps 13 9343 running wind 8.1 x64.

After some recent updates it will no longer boot , it hangs at the dell logo only showing a spinning circle.

Did a new clean install of win 8.1 , works well until all updates are installed then I get the same issue.

Tried to do a clean install of win 10 , same problem at install.

Turned off as many items as possible in the bios , upgraded the bios to  latest version A07. Tried installing both UEFI and Legacy mode.

Been puzzling to get it working for days now. Found an issue with the  SK Hynix SSD firmware but this machine has a Samsung PM851 M2 2280 SSD

Tried to install windows 10 32 witch works perfectly. But to be able to use all mem I need x64

Anyone has any clue on how to solve this ?  Tnxs

Blank Screen And Keyboard Not Responding Dell Studio 1555

I sat down to my laptop pushed the power button and the keyboard lit up and it began to make loading sounds but then it went quiet and nothing ever came on the screen, just blackness. I tried holding in the power button to do a hard reset but the moment I touched the power button everything shut off, this is not usual behavior. There is a disc in the DVD drive but pushing the eject button does nothing, that's when I realized the keyboard was not responding. I've done the remove the battery, remove AC plug, hold power 30 seconds, replace AC and try turning on, didn't work. I've tried removing and then replacing hard drive, didn't work. Can't use Fn hold down then push power because keyboard is not responding. I'm at a loss and mega freaking out. Please help if you can.

No TPM Function after Windows 1607 Upgrade

Hi all,

I'm just install the Update 1607 Windows Update in the RC on a Dell Latitude 7440.

The update went through without any problems. When I have restarted the PC, the information was immediately that would start the automatic repair.
Recovery - the PC could not properly start 0xc0000001
Recovery - PC / device needs to be repaired. It can be not loaded properly the BitLocker key. 0xc210000

After this I disabled the TPM chip in the BIOS. I could start Windows using the recovery key.
I reseted the TPM chip - no improvement
then disables BitLocker and reactivated, there is now also the message that the TPM could not be used.
At the TPM MSC the chip is available.

Currently i have TPM Version 1.2, according to MSFT Website it's supported. But i can't change the Version to 2.0 with the Dell Tool. I get the following error codes:

Error: The System TPM Query Failed, Aborting
Error: Unable to prepare the TPM update payload.

Have anyone an idea?
Stefan

I just got a new laptop and cannot find any NumLock key on the keyboard.

Tried pressing the blue Fn key and then one of the blue numbers (e.g. 4 for the U key) but that does not seem to work.

Can someone tell me how to activate NumLock when there is no NumLock button on the keyboard?

UPGRADED RAM YET LOST ORIGINAL RAM

so i upgraded 1 of the ram pieces the 4GB and updated it to a 8GB piece so i had 12GB
question i have is that if i needed to send it in for repairs on something which is nothing to do with the ram would they void my warranty for not having the original ram in it's place as i have misplaced it somewhere

Is it best to not keep the upgraded ram in and leave the 4GB in or is it best to leave the upgraded ram in.
I have been panicing as i need to send in my computer due to a speaker problem but i dont know if my laptop's warranty is void as i cannot find the ram anywhere around the house.

Can someone from dell please let me know if my warranty is void cause of this situation?

Inspiron 5500: problems with AC adapter and screen

$

Hi,

I have a 11-month old Inspiron 15-5000. About 4 months ago it started developing a problem while plugged in- AC adapter not recognised, and the whole system would become very slow, and charging would stop (though the battery wouldn't be drained). The problem could be solved by repeatedly moving the wires and adapter about.

Yesterday when I tired to wake up the laptop from sleep, the screen was extremely dark to the point of almost everything being invisible. I did a hard restart and the same happened - I could see the very dark outline of the Dell logo, but nothing after that. This morning it's working fine.

When the charging problem happened I learned it could be because of the 3rd pin in the power pack getting dislocated or some motherboard issue. Since it could be solved by just moving the power pack around, I assumed it was an issue with the pin.

I learnt yesterday that the screen problem can happen due to a bad inverter, the whole screen getting bad, or some fuse on the motherboard.

Since the screen is working ok now, what problems could I rule out from that list?

Also, is it possible that despite seeming like an adapter issue, both the charging and screen problems are linked to the motherboard?
