M17xR3 In-game black screen freeze
Hi there :-)
For some reason when I play a high intensity game, my laptop begins to over heat and freezes up with a dddddddddddddd sound in the background. I then have to reboot to get rid of it. I have done a Dell online hardware diagnostic check, thinking it may be graphic card problem... But the results say that all the hardware is fine. It did a video card check as well with it going through that video program, and no problem. This freeze happens often now. Could it be that the fanning system is dirty and clogged up and so it's shutting down because of the over heating.
Any help will be great. I am living in South Africa, no computer repair shop will touch an Alien for some reason. Trying to find a dell repair shop here is proving very difficult.

Dell inspiron 1545 w7 blue screen only, lost all icons....only arrow appears
Hello All, new (frustrated) member,
Computers diagnostics are not my acumen for sure so here goes:
The above's hard drive card? fell out of the slot. I believe this is what it's called. It's located on the left side of the computer (looking at it from frt) on the same side as the charger port is located. The screws evidently backed out and it fell on the floor, thank fully the floor is carpeted. "Appears" not to be damaged....I went to re-install it got a repair or start screen, tried repair prompt and again got a plain blue W7 screen. Pressed F8 key and ran in Safe Mode, Command Prompt....it seemed to "load" the driver??? Still nothing but a W7 blue screen w/ mouse arrow. Doing a pre boot assessment build 4118 and received an error message 2000-0146....everything else has passed.
Any ideas what's going on?

Dell Studio 1558 won't boot
Hi everyone!
Since yesterday my laptop crashed while I was watching a movie via HDMI (image froze, sound played on (sound via HDMI)). It didn't respond to anything so I turned it down and wanted to power it up to proceed the film.
This however, wasn’t going to happen. The screen stayed blank (didn't even see the Dell logo). I tried different things, without HDD, other RAM bank, without battery, without AC charger and a fresh CMOS battery. All without success..
I also tried the trick with the AC charger disconnected and without battery, holding the power button for 30 seconds or so and try again afterwards. Didn't helped as well..
I've read about a hardware check that could be done by holding Fn and powering it up. First I heard a sort of melody, then 3 beeps, pause, 2 beeps, pause and 1 beep (3-2-1). Unfortunately I couldn’t find this beep-code anywhere on the web..
Is there any way to rescue my laptop? My warranty is just expired, the laptop is 2.5 years old and I really want to use it for a bit longer!
Hardware specs:
Intel i7 720 QM
6 GB of DDR 3 RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 5470

Audio Problems with HDMI
Hi
I got a HDMI cable today to connect my Laptop to the TV. When I connect it the picture is good (although only on the TV and would prefer it to be on both if possible) but there is no sound coming from the TV, just the laptop. In Control Panel - Sound there is a HDMI option but it states that it is not plugged in when it is. Have tried restarting etc but still no luck.
What can I do to solve these problems, any help is appreciated thanks.

Alienware 17 doesn't recognize internal display
Recently my dell alienware 17 works only when attached to an external hdmi monitor. On device manager there isn't any other monitor on the monitors tab. Both graphic cards working flawless. Any ideas? It's 1 week old laptop..

White vertical lines while booting up and blank screen in display
Hi,
I have dell studio 1537 laptop. Laptop has problem with the display. Laptop boots up with a white vertical lines and there will be no display after that. Only a blank screen will be displayed. Some times Laptop is working fine, but even then if i play some movies, display will go off. I have given the laptop to Dell service center and they told this is the graphics card problem. Remelting the graphics crad ballsmight make it work, but it is not 100% guarantee. laptop worked fine for some days after the service, but again the problem has started. what is the dsolution for this problem. Should i chage the motherboard and if so how much it will cost. will there be a life after changing the motherboard or it is advisable to chaange tha laptop. Laptop is around 4 years old.

Cant access new Alienware 17 BIOS menu.
I have an Alienware 17 (mid 2013) model and I wanted to boot from a USB, but I am unable to access the BIOS menu. I tried all the F keys and also the delete key, still I am unable to access the menu, please help.

Alienware m14x r2: Your pc has run into a problem and needs to restart loop
I have an alienware m14x r2. It has been working fine for the time I've had it, but I guess something went wrong (I'm guessing the drivers) because when I start up my laptop it loads, show the alienware logo, then the windows logo (and sometimes says "preparing automatic repair"), then it says, "Your pc has run into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some info, and then we'll restart for you. Then my laptop restarts and the loop starts over again.
How can I fix this?

New XPS 13 (9333) Constant Noise
I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.
I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.
Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.

new to me Precision M4600 - some questions regarding USB 3.0 and chirp
bought a used Precision M4600 laptop and went through a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional.
According to the information I found online this computer has two USB 3.0 ports on the right hand side. Currently they are dead. Not entirely clear which drivers I need to get.
Second, the computer chirps. There is a very brief chirp coming from the lower right hand side at irregular intervals. Regardless of the sound being turned on or off.
Wondering about the fingerprint reader. Is it worth messing with?

Inspiron 15 5000 series - Slow performance. CPU Stuck at 0,75ghz?
Hi Guys!
I've recently purchased an Inspiron 15 5000 series and have noticed that performance is unusually slow for the specs, especially since coming from an Asus G73JH that was about 4 years old.
I've noticed that in the Task Manager on Windows 8, that CPU usage never goes above 30% and although the CPU is listed as an i7-4510u @ 2.00ghz, the Speed on the Task Manager page generally sits at 0.75ghz and never goes above 0.79ghz (generally when it goes above 0.75ghz, it for a brief moment).
I've been Googling this problem for a little while now and the only person I've found with a successful solution to this problem was on a desktop and had to replace their CMOS battery. Considering I'm on a laptop, I'd imagine this would void my warranty somewhat :P
I've run the Dell Support program and all the tests pass. I've also installed all the drivers from the Dell site (including the BIOS update) and all my Windows Updates are up to date. If anyone has a suggestion for what could fix my problem, I'm all ears :) I quite like the laptop, so would like to fix this problem :)

Updating BIOS Dell L502x
Hello everyone,
I want to update my bios on my dell L502X laptop. I downloaded the A12 version on a USB stick, made it bootable and pressed F12 and went to the USB stick and I was in DOS. Question is, i typed L502XA12.exe but it says it cannot run in DOS mode. Does anybody have a solution or what am I doing wrong?

Continuous beep alarm when startup
When I start-up my Dell Inspiron mini 10, a continous beep sound can be hear until it stop when the window XP start..
I re-start the laptop by hold press the Power Key and Function Key, the Diagnostics says:
Checking file system on C:
The type of file system is NTFS.
Volume Level is OS.
One of the disks may need to check for consistency .
You may cancel the disk check, but it strongly recommended that you continue.
Disk checking has been cancelled.
What is wrong ( beeping code?) and how should I rectify it? Please advise.

Inspiron 15z 5523 Shut down issues?
Please help me in this issue, it has been making me so sad.
I have purchased this laptop since 25th May 2014
I installed Windows 8.1 and I faced a Shut Down issue, when I click Shut down in Power menu, screen showing "Shutting down' and then it turns off, however the Power Button was still turned on and the fan was spinning so so fast and producing hot air...
I have read about this issue on the net and I found that when the option "Turn on fast startup" is checked in Windows 8.1, for some systems it causes them to hang while shutting down. I looked and indeed this option was checked and then I unchecked it.
However, I use IDM "Internet Download Manager" and set it to "Turn off computer when done"...
Yesterday, I left the laptop and when I returned IDM has finished downloading, the screen was turned off but the power was still on and fan was spinning so fast like before. So if I had left laptop that time and slept, it would have burnt!!
Now I wonder??!!! Why does this happen NOW? And "Turn on fast startup" IS NOT CHECKED....
Can anyone tell me? Is is the IDM application fault??
And just in case I am using IDM version 6.07 and this version was released in 2011. It is before Windwos 8 was released. Can this be the cause??
Or can anyone tell me if this Dell Inspiron model has indeed Shutting Down issues?
Remember, my model specs is Intel Core i7-3537U 2.00GHz (Inspiron 15z 5523)

Inspiron 15R N5110, Pathetic service, no response, waste of time/ money in extended warranty
I have Inspiron 15R N5110 with 3 year warranty. Recently the motherboard started giving beeps. After 15 days of haggling they changed the MB with the old refurbished one. While opening the case, technician broke the screw base of screen and told me that it will be replaced as this is standard problem with all Inspiron model. He also told me that he will be intimating and raising the ticket. Now, even after 2 weeks, multiple reminders, mails escalation to "unattended issue" nothing happened. no response.
