Studio 1569 Battery

0

My computer is telling me I need a new battery, and on the battery it says to go to www.dell.com/notebookbatteries, and apparently dell doesn't sell any batteries for my computer. Battery type YY9RM. So how am I suppose to buy a new battery? This doesn't seem to make any sense. Shouldn't Dell sell batteries for their own computers? Without the battery my computer is useless, and if I have to buy a new one because of this issue, I can guarantee I won't be buying another dell because I can't be sure that I'll be able to replace parts later.

Inspiron 15R N5110 Problem

So the other day, I went to turn on my 15R. It will go to the Bios screen, then reboot and continue to do so for eternity. Already pulled the hard drive and it's fine. It will not boot in safe mode, and from the boot menu a system diagnosis came up blank. A couple friends think these symptoms point to a bad motherboard. Any suggestions or clarification?

Latitude D630 Laptop: Can it actually handle 8GB of RAM?

Hi,

Helping out a recent immigrant from China, who came over with her son. Before leaving from China, the father of the son gave him a Latitude D630 ( a pretty nice one, with the NVS135M graphics chip). The OS (XP) is in Chinese, so its a real adventure trying to set up/clean up the system. Anyway, I have a couple of questions about the D630.

1. Seems like the system is capable of running Vista 64 Bit, but I beleive that is only worth it if the system has 4GB or more of RAM installed. The current system has 2GB installed (2 X1GB), and the owner would like to get a new OS for this system (which will make my life a lot easier, as it will at least be in english). If she gets WIndows 7, should she get Windows 7 32 Bit, or 64 Bit? She is willing to spring for more RAM, so if WIndows 7 64Bit is the best way to go, I will advise her to get 1 X 4 GB Module, and leave the second slot open for more RAM later. THe Dell manual indicates 8GB RAM capable; does this mean it will take 8GB of RAM, or that it may be able to take 8GB at some point in the future if they get around to updating the BIOS?

2. If anybody has used 4GB modules in this system, please let me know which modules worked for you, and even more importantly, which didn't.

New XPS 13 (9333) Constant Noise

I have just recently received a new XPS 13 with the new haswell i7 processor, 8gb RAM, 256gb ssd, and windows 8.1.

I really like this laptop, but it makes a really bizarre noise. It happens constantly as soon as its powered on, like a high pitched whirring sound from somewhere beneath the keyboard. It also seems pretty inconsistent, like it flickers in frequency, and when you use programs (e.g scroll through webpages) it gets louder.

Can anyone help me with what the issue is here? Any help appreciated.

No USB boot option Dell M6600

Hullo,

After reinstalling Windows 7 64bit Pro on M6600 computer I notice I have NO USB boot option in one-time boot list (F12).
USB device is on the second place in BIOS boot sequence (F2).

USB ports works find. I can use all devices connected to them. Although external keyboard remains inactive till the Windows logon screen.

Because of the above I am not able to perform windows backup Image restore directly from an external HD used previously to backup the system. Attempting this I have a prompt to install the driver that I cannot localise.

I will deeply appreciate any helpful suggestion to solve the problem.
Thank you very much in advance,

Touchpad gestures/scrolling/pointer not working after windows 8.1 update on Dell Inspiron 11 3137

Just got a brand new laptop, Dell Inspiron 11 3137, and updated to windows 8.1. The touchpad does not work properly now; gestures/scrolling/pointer not working. I've spent over 16 hours getting windows 8.1 installed and then troubleshooting this issue. I've contacted Dell; updated the driver from Dell, even tried installing the latest driver from Synaptic. I even tried setting the Synaptic app to run under the windows 8 version.

Touchpads have been around a long time. It's the last thing I expect not to work properly.

At this point I am ready to send the laptop back and call it quits on windows.

Can anybody help with this?

Inspiron 6400 will not detect Sandisk SSD in the Bios - Please Help!

I recently purchased a Sandisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 2.5" 128GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive to upgrade my faulty hdd in an old Dell Inspiron 6400.  My problem is that the laptop is not detecting the ssd card.  When I enter the bios and look it has "none" listed as the hdd.  This is what I have tried thus far:

1. Updated the bios to A17 (the latest and last Dell Bios update)
2. Put in an older seagate mechanical hdd to check if the mobo was bad - it was detected no problem.
3. Put the SSD into a different laptop (an old compaq presario that is about 1 year newer then the Dell).  The SSD was detected without issue in the Compaq.

I have run out of ideas.  My best guess at this point is that the dell bios does not support ssd.  However, I have looked on a variety of forums and found that other people have been able to put an ssd into a Dell 6400.  Any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

INSPIRON 14Z N411Z WILL NOT TURN ON

I have had this laptop for a couple of years and it has worked fine with no issues.  No work has ever been done on it.  A few nights ago my wife was using it and shut the lid for the evening.  in the morning, the laptop would not turn on.  There is power to the AC adapter (green light on) but no power/lights on the laptop at all.  I've removed the battery for long periods and tried to start it with no luck.  Kind of at a loss now.

Transferring file from old hard drive to new computer, black screen Dell Inspiroon 1545

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't seem to locate the information needed.

I have a black screen, and cannot hook to external monitor.

I found a you tube video showing equipment to just transfer files: USB 2.0 to IDE. My hard drive does not seem to have the pins exposed as the equipment within the video.

I'm sure that I mhave revealed my

Lack of technical savvy. Any assistance on what USB transfer device to use.

Thanks,

M14X Hinge

Much like the hundreds or thousands of other people that bought an Alienware M14X - my left hinge broke about 1 month after my warranty ran out. First how can this not be a defect when it is happening to so many people? Second, I bought an Alienware because I wanted to finally get a quality product - how does Dell think that since customers paid more for this product than other comparable products - and then got something this shoddy will affect future sales?

Why won't Dell just cover the repair of this since it so so obviously a defect?

Hi,

My Dell Studio 1558 laptop was running fine until mid of April,2014. One day, i used in the Morning until 10 O'Clock and when tried to switched on in the afternoon, it did not start. On pressing the 'power button' , the LED light just blink for a fraction of seconds. In the last 4 years, had no issue in starting the laptop. So, i quickly searched the DELL Service center and found LAPTOPSTOREINDIA in Velacherry nearest to my house. Went their with the laptop and gave the laptop to them. Next day , i got a call from LAPTOPSTOREINDIA  and they explained me that it's 'GRAPHICS PROBLEM' and they will apply solution. But, solution may not work for long time. Have to change the motherboard if the temporary solution does not work. They also informed me that 'Motherboard for DELL STUDIO 1558 is unavailable in the MARKET'. The temporary solution work for 4 days. On fifth day, laptop did not start again. I went to the same service center again and they told 'Sorry, can't do anything, temporary solution is not working'.

I asked about the availability of the motherboard and the answer is same it's unavailable in the market.I asked for the possibility of coming in the market in the near future but they could not answer.

It is out of warranty.

I have a Dell docking station (E-port plus replicator pro2x) and noticed that it's sold online with a PA-4E AC adapter. The only charger I have though is a PA-2E, will that be ok to use?

Here is what I know:

PA-4E specs are:

130w, 19.5v, 6.7a

PA-2E specs are:

65w, 19.5V, 3.34A

But, I don't know for sure yet if I can use a PA-2E adapter with the docking station. Please help :)

Thanks,

Mike

Dell Inspiron 7537 Beeps when tapped.. (Hard drive)

I got my replacement insiprion and it is a refurbished model. a couple of days ago Today I was typing and I noticed beeps coming from the right side of the machine. I opened the back cover and the sound appears to be coming from the Hard Drive.  Dell's quality has really gone down hill. They send me one replacement and that one was riddled with issues... I demand another replacement and this one came and I thought "wow everything works" and this issue pops up.. I also have a dell xps 13 with the coil whine.. Dell really is horrible now. How do they get away with giving customers this stuff? Really.. who is the head of QC needs to be fired... I have bought many dell computers over the years and I have to say the decline in quality is very apparent... I will NOT be buying another dell.. and for the record I have bought a couple of desktops, a couple of laptops.. I have given dell so much of my money.. I will no longer give them another cent besides extending the warranty on this macchine because I'll need it after the quality of their products..

Here is a video of the beeping in action. (Please visit the site to view this video)
