Vostro 3500

I have Vostro 3500 and my problem is that when I install graphic drivers Geforce 310M my desktop show me four (4) screen similar to my desktop.

I have already tried to connect an external monitor and it operates nicely which means that my graphic card function is okay.

When I proceed and make disable my graphic card the problem does not exist.

My computer needs to stop windows update function because during start up operation it installs

Ge Force 310M driver which splits my screen in 4 desktops.

How can I solve my problem.

Dell have been working on a fix for several weeks/months for the issue where the Nvidia graphics card either vanishes completely or randomly disappears requiring a reboot to get it recognised by the system

According to @dellcares the Product Team are actively working on a permanent solution - my direct conversations with @dellcares on twitter are now over two weeks long. There is still no guaranteed ETA on a remedy.

The list of people with this faulty laptop seems to be growing daily - probably because Dell are still selling it, knowing it has a major problem.

Please add your name to this post if you are the owner of this laptop or a similar laptop which is suffering with a vanishing Nvidia GT650M.

Dell Data Protection software one-step logon not working?

I have 4 laptops (the latest being 7240's) running DDP security tools 1.2 and DDP 8.2.1.284. Two laptops are win7 64bit and two are 32bit. I can't seem to get the One-step logon to work on any of them despite the one-step logon box being checked. I still get asked for a windows password despite entering a password at preboot.

Also the software is nowhere near as good as the older encryption software! There is no option to remember the userID at preboot or to give a dropdown list of users at preboot, grrrrr. And what really gets me is it defaults to US Keyboard!

Hi,

I am really bummed out because of my Dell xps 15z construction materials. Its such a great laptop but the trim is chipping and breakingsine the first 4 months of buying the laptop. I scratched my hand several time in the sharp corners. And it looks so ugly. I bought this laptop from UK. I am living in Germany now. And unfortunately my warranty has expired. I donot know what to do and who to approach for this problem. Please give me some suggestions. I need to fix this.

Hi.

I just bought my new laptop. I have it for around 10 days. Everything was ok at first but after 3-4 days I decided to update to Windows 8.1. After that the laptop never wakes up after going to sleep no matter what I do.

It seems that others have the same issue. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling both display drivers, I removed a bluetooth device that had an error with 8.1 but I couldn't resolve the wakeup problem. I ran the power troubleshooter, nothing. Hybrid sleep in advanced power settings was already off.

Is there any solution? Please help. It's really frustrating to have to do a hard reset everytime

My machine is an Inspiron 15 3537, i7 4500U, AMD 8850M, 8GB RAM, 1TB HD.

I just bought yesterday the above model. I used also a bluetooth mouse from logitech. However, I face up many disconnections very often (I mean that in one minute three or four times). I tried to update automatically the drivers for bluetooth adapter but it mention that I have the latest drivers. The mouse works properly since I tried it in many other laptops without any issue. Do you have any suggestion?

Hello, I'm having an issue with my Windows 8 dell xps ultrabook. I bought it less than a month ago. I put it to sleep and close the lid or from start menu, but when I wake the computer by opening the lid, every time it just gives me a brief black screen, then i have to start up the laptop again and it opens as if I had shut it down. Basically, it seems to crash and reboot. I have nothing plugged in.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

My Specs:

* i7 4th generation

* Windows 8.1 with touch screen

* 8GB + 256GB SSD

Recently I was renaming a folder and I pressed Caps Lock. It was like pressing enter, it renamed the file. I tried again but still when i was pressing Caps Lock it was like pressing enter. Also when i press Caps Lock all windows flicker (go out of focus and back in focus). Also when I press Caps Lock and I am on a full screen program/game typing something, it minimizes it and brings me to my desktop. If someone can give me a link to the keyboard drivers or have a tip to fix this, please do reply.

Dell Webcam Central chokes & dies

I'm running Windows 7 Pro x64 on a Dell Inspiron 7110.

Webcam Central loads and looks like it will run for a few seconds, then gives me an error message that "WebcamDell2x.exe has stopped working" followed a few seconds later by "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly....." and closes. This repeats every time the program is run. Now the facts:

The program worked as initially installed.

I haven't used the program for 3 weeks or more and made some odds & ends of changes, so I can really know where to roll back to. And rolling back would lose some useful changes that have been made recently.

Last night I did a Safe Mode w/Networking and installed the latest upgrade to Webcam Central. No change at all in the app behavior.

Event Viewer tells me:

So this tells me it's an error in ntdll.dll, which actually tells me very little since apparently many errors can come out of ntdll. Beyond the application name, things like the code, offset, and process id info are not things I'm really familiar with and so my translation skills there are pretty weak.

I ran an sfc /scannow on the system32 folder, no problems reported.

And even more facts:

The integrated camera does not come on in the brief time Webcam Central is onscreen, but the integrated camera does work fine with Skype.

I've looked at dozens of messages, both on Dell and via Google, and haven't found anything that exactly describes the situation above. Any suggestions or comments you might have before I have to pull the Visa card out of the freezer would be much appreciated. -kw

Hello,

I have a 7720 and over the last couple of weeks the laptop has powered itself off about 6 separate times during gaming. The most recent time today it happened only 5 minutes into a game.

The laptop makes a clicking sound, the screen turns black and it shuts down all within about 1 second.

I'm running the latest BIOS and I have tried both the latest NVIDIA drivers and the Dell recommended ones. I have run the My Dell diagnostics and the laptop passed everything, including the GPU tests.

I really like this laptop a lot, but it's not going to be much use if I can't run games for more than a few minutes without it switching off on me - and the game it happened in today, Football Manager 2014, isn't a particularly graphically intensive one.

I was a loyal dell customer for over 10 years. I ´ve bougt more than 10 machines for myself, my employees and family members over the years. My experience with the Dell Vostro V13 however made that I will not buy Dell again. I had the exact same problem as others described with the hard disk cable. The thing that angered me most is that Dell has discontinued this cable. The laptops are less than 18 months old and already you can´t buy essential parts. First of all it is a shame that an essential part breaks down after such a short while and even worse is that Dell is so disrespectful to its customers that they decide to stop making this part, knowing that the computer is useless without it.

I had to purchase a used hard disk cable on ebay for over 5 times the price that Dell sold the new ones.

I am really very dissapointed and will buy my next thin laptop or ultrabook elsewhere.

Hello all,

Thanks for taking a look - hopefully we can get this problem fixed :).

Anyways, as of yesterday my Bluetooth no longer works. It has cut out intermittently before but I was always able to reconnect my devices. Now, I do not even get them to show up. I have looked over every previous post I could find but no one seems to have a fix for my particular issue.

I have tried updating my drivers, nothing. I am now thinking the problem is either BIOS or hardware related. It does not seem that the BT adapter is being recognized, however I do seem to be able to access my BT via the OS (meaning I have the icon in the system tray, etc.). I also do not see the little lightup icon that one normally sees next to the Wireless icon anymore.

I have looked in the BIOS for the option to reenable the Bluetooth but... I don't see it anywhere? I am really confused as I do not see anything related to BT under advanced options.

The device in question will connect to another computer, so it is working fine.

Please let me know if you need anymore info - I wasn't sure what all to include here and this post is long enough :P.

I'm usually in a location where there is plenty of ambient lighting, meaning there's no need for the keyboard backlight. While very useful when I need it, most of the time I want it off.

It appears that the backlight defaults on because at every power on or restart it's lit. I hit Fn+F6 to turn it off, but that's a hassle to do each time.

I don't see an option in the UEFI to set the backlight to default off, but it's entirely possible I just missed it.

Is there an option to set it off?

Hello, I bought the new Alienware 18 model and i have problems.

I've been trying for many months to work it out with the shop i bought it from but they won't even reply to me any more.

I bought this laptop for the university I attend and I kinda regret that I did. It took all of my savings - all of them and now I don't have any money to repair it.

3 of the keyboard keys have been broken since day one. I mean, they are there but every now and then they come off the keyboard. It takes me from minutes to hours to put them back off and they come off all the time. only 3 specific keys have the problem.

The SLI bridge cable that unites the two GTX 780m arived broken as well.

Sometimes when the laptop powers up it tells me to "plug in a genuine dell power supply of 330W or more" when i already have the genuine power supply there

I also think that the USBs have some kind of problem. USB things fail sometimes and my kingston hyper-x fail every time (but works perfectly on all other computers/laptops)

and lastly, the mouse buttons of the trackpad do not work (however the trackpad itself does) - but this happened now - this did work when the laptop arrived.

Now, the laptop does have warantee but the shop i bought it from are not listening to me and I'm located in Greece so i guess it will take a lot of money to send the laptop to alienware itself.

what can I do??

The laptop itself is a monster of power - If it didn't have those problems I'd love it with all my heart. It is super-fast on calculating Chaos-Theory problems (which i work on the university) and it sure as hell rocks on games as well (and using only 1 GPU as the SLI is broken; can't image the power of the 2 GPUs together).

There's nothing I can do, is there?

I have installed Windows 7 64 bit in my inspiron N4050 and its two drivers are missing as shown in figure below. Please tell me how to find out drivers for them on dell site because on Dell drivers site I have given my service tag which is <Admin Note Service tag removed per privacy policy> but i couldn't determine which of them to install . The hardware ids are given as shown in figures below. Can anyone please help . All other drivers are installed correctly. Only these two are missing
