I just purchased a Western Digital My Passport Ultra 2TB external USB3 hard drive model WDBBKD0020BBK and it's not detectable/mounting when plugged directly into either of the USB3 ports using the factory supplied cable .It's not seen under disk management either. I've verified the drive as working and detectable on two other computers. Another USB 2 drive I have is recognized.

Have gone through in detail all troubleshooting steps found in WDC's page for external HDD's, as well as Dell's knowledge base and tried various suggestions found via web searches involving USB and Windows 10 over a period of several hours without any success.

Both Windows and Dell updates are current as are USB related drivers.

It is spinning/vibrating and does have a solid indicator light so it's powered up. The light eventually changes to a slow flash indicating it's in standby.

Has anybody else had this issue and found a fix?

Hello,

Recently I tried to change my Quadro 1000M GPU to AMD M4000, but it was not working.. Computer powered on but display was not showing anything. Tried display diagnostics (D+power on button), it showed all the colored screens...

After a huge struggle, I have change back to Quadro 1000M and it was ok.

Then I tried to disable Intel HD adapter (read that it might help) and changed GPU to AMD M4000.. still not showing anything..

Then I decided to go back to Quadro 1000M and now it is the same with Quadro 1000M GPU... Display not showing anything... When I tried to reset BIOS (with coin battery detachment), at start it showed BIOS loading screen (even tried diagnostics after BIOS reset, everthing was good) and everything as usual but it didn't boot up, just restarted and then the same black screen problem..

Hello,

I own the above laptop. It has two rows of buttons, one row below the touchpad and one above (or below the space key, don't know if this row really belongs to the touchpad). In the latter row, i.e. the one above the TP, the middle button is not giving any event.  The other row works as expected, all three buttons are working.

Any idea how to configure this correctly.

I bought an Inspiron 7460 about two weeks ago.  I have two issues:

1. Warranty page indicates that the warranty period started in late December 2016, three months before purchase.
2. The phone support system does not recognize the laptop's Express Service Code.

I was able to talk to a support rep who assured me both issues would be resolved by me sending proof of purchase with the correct date.  I sent that last week but neither issue has been resolved.

Are there any steps I'm missing?

Hi all,

I have a Dell Latitude E5550 Windows 8.1 computer. I bought it in 2015, worked perfectly fine. A few months ago, the sleep mode disappeared from all menu's (start, power management, etc.). I looked for a solution on several fora, but I haven't found one yet.

When I type "powercfg -a" in command, here is the result:

Hibernate

Fast Startup

The system firmware does not support this standby state.

It looks like it's a driver issue, but updating all my drivers with Dell Utility and Intel Driver Update Utility didn't fix the problem.

Hello Guys,

I have Dell Inspiron 15r n5010 and I am thinking of an upgrade of my 4 gb ram (2 x 2 GB DDR3 1333 MHZ) to 8 gb ram.

I am considering Corsair Vengeance CMSX4GX3M1A1600C9. (2 x 4 gb ram)

Request your opinion about its compatibility with Dell Inspiron 15r n5010.

If yes then what drivers have to install?

Every morning, the same behavior happens.

I wake my computer from sleep. At the Window login prompt, I connect the WD15 with my laptop (Dell Latitute 5580). The connection establishes (the attached monitor turn on and works). After 5-10 seconds, the WD15 shuts down on it own. The white led on the dock (and on the cable) shuts off. I have to disconnect the power of the dock, disconnect the dock from the laptop and finally reconnect the power to turn on the dock. When the white led are back, I reconnect the WD15 to my laptop and now, the connection is stable (does not disconnect) and everything works.

Is this a known issue ? How can I fix this ?

Hi, Inspiron 13 7000, 2 months out of warranty and they are telling me its tough, pay for repair at 80% of original cost, if this is not uncommon then is this a design fault that can be challenged ?

Pretty poor customer service, theres no way the part is costing them that.

Hi All,

We have several latitude 14 inches 7470 and 7450. We like to keep our system, so yesterday I update drivers in a dell and computer now freeze up as soon you login. We did a restore and didn't help.

We have window 10 Pro. Now I'm scared going forward update any drivers. The only solution by Dell is sending the laptop over, they didn't even try to do any remote help at all.

What can be the best step to try in cases like this?

I wonder if an inspiron 3162 user could offer me some advice please?

Yesterday I bought a new one of these little laptops and my neighbour took it to set up for me. Today he has returned to let me know that he has forgotten the Windows password that he used to set it up. I found a site that sells password reset software on download, I purchased it and burned it to USB.

Using the F2 button I accessed the BIOS menu on the computer but cannot find an option listed for booting from USB.

If anyone has experienced this issue and could help me with advice, I would be very grateful.

Hello,

I have used this forum in the past with some success and I thought I would reach out once again.

Currently, I have a W10 version 1607 (and I believe that this is the most current update); Anniversary version installed and operating well. While looking at the Device Manager I noticed that Bluetooth drivers are missing and I would like to add these drivers. However, I am seeing that this system is not on the Dell's list for W10 Anniversary updates. Is this absolute or is there a work around. While searching I do see drivers available for this system but not from Dell. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

We recently update a 30 unit E6530 laptop cart from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  We soon heard of freezing occurring. After this we updated the Drivers and BIOS at the dell Support site.  They are fully up to date now and the problem persists.

I can always get the problem to occur when resuming the computer from sleep mode, though it occasionally occurs when booting the computer fresh.

According to Dell the E6530 has been tested and does have Windows 10 drivers.  If anyone has any ideas or have had similar troubles we would certainly like to hear ideas as to what is happening as we are hoping to avoid downgrading them back to Windows 7.

Hardware:

• Dell XPS 15, Nvidia 1050 
• Thunderbolt docking station TB16
• Two 1920x1080 monitors. One connected to HDMI using HDMI->DVI cable, another is connected to display port using DP->DVI cable.

The problem.

When the laptop wakes up after going to sleep mode, the monitor connected to HDMI starts to go blank ever 3-5 seconds. See video: (Please visit the site to view this video)

The BIOS and drivers have been updated.

The only solution I found is to reboot.

I downloaded the new version of Killer Wireless Suite (Killer Wireless 1435 1535 WiFi Driver) and every time I try to install it, it says that there is an old version of the driver that should be removed. I agree, and then the installer stuck with "Removing Old Version Please Wait..."! Any idea how to remove the older driver and install the new one?

I have an Inspiron 1440 which I purchased in 2010. Recently I noticed that the battery charger port (round, on the left side) no longer recognizes when the charger is plugged in. I can plug it in but the battery doesn't charge. For a while, if I pushed the charger into the port very tightly the battery would charge. That no longer works.

The battery itself is not the problem. I replaced it 2 years ago (2015), and, as I said, it used to charge when I gerry-rig the charger. 

I called Best Buy, where I purchased the laptop originally; they said that this particular model has a charger port that is welded to the motherboard, meaning, it cannot be removed or replaced. They advised me to purchase a new laptop. Is this the case, or can the port or charger plug possibly be repaired or replaced, without my needing to buy a new unit? The laptop works perfectly other than this problem; I realize it's 7 years old, but I don't want to buy a new one if I don't have to.

I have old Dell Inspiron 1300 with Celeron M 380 1.6ghz, 1,5gb ram, Windows xp professional 32bit. So im curious if i can upgrade processor to Pentium M 780 and if cant what processor would be best for my dell. Thx :D

Hello Team,

I just recently purchased a brand new dell XPS 15" corei7 I am pretty happy with my system but it is making a silent but annoying buzzing sound while browsing the web, scrolling over the toolbar or opening a web page with moving graphics on it and even opening a new folder or file makes a buzzing sound.

I tried to search for a solution over the net but wasn't helpful. If anyone can help me hear please.
