Dell XPS M1530... Battery not charging, says its plugged in but not charging... someone please help!

Hi, I could really use some help, my laptop battery status is at 0% and its staying on with the adapter plugged in, and the battery status says its plugged in but not charging, can someone please help me! I have a lot of schoolwork I need to get done, and I called and they said the couldn't get the guy to call me in about 3 days, then it would be another 3 days for him to get out here, I dont have that much time!
