So I just bought this laptop a few days ago and I am loving it, except for one GLARING issue. The touch pad is crippling this laptop, it is the most poorly executed touchpad I have ever used. I cannot believe how flaky it is. Scrolling is clunky, choppy and either too sensitive or not sensitive enough or sometimes completely unresponsive. And this may be more of a problem with WIndows 8 which I am still getting used to but strange windows are always popping up out of no where, you can't flick the pad to advance pictures or web pages like you can on a MacBook Pro and zooming in on anything is futile. It seems certain gestures and motions are not consistent between all applications or even the OS itself.
I dunno what the problem is, I have been adjusting and re-adjusting the Dell touchpad settings tirelessly to find something close that would resemble the behavior I am used to from using MacBooks but its not even close. Maybe I am expecting too much from it but I don't think there is any excuse for touchpads being this flaky in this day and age any more. I can only hope that Dell releases a update to their software to offer more features. Windows 8 being designed more for touchscreen may be the issue but you should still be able to use the touch pad in a similar fashion.
I didn't want to have to use a USB mouse but it's the only way I can use the laptop without frustration from random menus, windows and programs opening up without even trying. I have done all the Dell recommended BS about uninstall, reinstall drivers yadda yadda. It's sad that they even recommend those steps, as if that would ever resolve a issue to underdeveloped software. Some sort of calibration tool would have been nice.
Otherwise this laptop is very good and well worth what I paid for it. Just fix this horrible touchpad and its a 5 star product.
