I have just spent all day (a good 10 hours) attempting to install Windows 8.1 on my Dell XPS 15. What an absolute disaster this is proving to be! First, the graphics driver was causing an issue where when I booted up I would see nothing but a black screen and flicking mouse. After eventually finding out how to get to safe mode, I rectified this by removing the graphics drivers before the installation then re-installing afterwards. When I thought it was fixed, some applications wound have a lower resolution than others, I spent more hours of my time finding out why this was and it turns out I had to tick "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" in the compatibility settings of the program concerned. Now I was under the deluded belief everything was fixed until I plugged my external hard drive into one of my USB ports which now seems not to have power (nothing happens when I plug anything into this port). The two other ports work fine. Has anybody had this issue and if so, I don't suppose you have a fix? To all those considering installing Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, DO NOT!
