SKYPE

I have used Skype for 10 years and no problem.  Now after an update on Nov. 6, 2013 I have a problems with sound.  Skype said I was missing file 1603.  what is that file and where do I get it.  Now Microsoft took over Skype I have problems.  I do not know what to do.  I never had a problem.  I restored my computer to before Nov 6th and still cannot use Skype.  I keep reading about problems with sound.  when I reinstalled Skype all my contacts disappeared. <ADMIN NOTE: Email id removed per privacy policy>
