Hi

I have dell Inspiron 3542(service tag-97mkn52). my complain number is 937119095 and they have suggested to software support but it seems that its not an software problem.

From past few days, it is auto scrolling to bottom of the page. Even if I try to scroll up its taking me down.

This problem exists even outside OS. ie while trying to install OS.I have updated the drivers including bios setting in hope of getting the problem solved.I have also reinstalled the OS many time in hope but no use.Please help  me to know whats the matter.

In the keyboard no keys are stuck.I have also connected usb keyboard and mouse but it  make no difference.

I have done the all the test suggested by hardware support person and no error was reported.(both test was done).

Please help me.

Hi.

I bought 2 weeks ago dell Inspiron 15- 5000 series. I'm with windows 10 home. I Surfing with firefox  browser, last version 49.0.1, and sometimes when I search in the search bar of google or in the URL bar, when the suggestions are open, the screen is streaking. When I go to open tab, some texts are painted in black or blue, like they mark, and only when touching them with the mouse or scroll the page up an down it disappear.

I have no streaking in other software or in any other part of the computer.

What could be the problem?

Is my screen defective?

Hi all,

My problem with my recently purchased Precision 3510, is it's CPU seems to be stuck between 0.75 - 0.78 Ghz and doesn't exceed 30% in load. 
It doesn't matter if the laptop is charging or not, it will stay between 0.75 Ghz - 078 Ghz.
The power profile is configured on high performance and the power adapter is good.
I upgraded the BIOS to the latest version 1.9.4. (now i was really thinking to try a downgrade)
Did a fresh install of Windows 10 Pro (it came with 8.1 pro and the problem was there, and i thought upgrading to w10 will fix this problem). I also teted the CPU running a live distribution of Fedora, but all the cores were running the same speed.
I also tried to disable/enable with a reboot in between intel turboboos, c-states,intel speedstep.

The FAN is working, and the laptop doesn't get hot.
I also tried to drain the battery, to the point where the laptop wont turn on at all, no success.

I did all the tests on dell website, and dell epsa diagnostics (4300.24 validation121284) as well, al were passed and no issues detected.

The only time when it seems to reach it full capacity (and Im not talking about turbo up to 3,5 ghz) is when I boot the system in safe mode. But then it's stuck at 2.59 Ghz, and obviously the speedstep tech is not in use. 

What I noticed is that the multiplier is set to 8.

To be honest I have no idea what could be. I'm just super disappointed since I paid loads of money  for a "workstation replacement" and I can use it for...Ms Excel. This is my 3rd Dell laptop and my D630 which is 8 years old runs faster.

Any opinions are welcomed.

Hi, I would like to turn on my Vostro 3750 touchpad but can't find how to.

I have searched extensively to how to do this but cannot find.

I'm using windows 7

In control panel there is NO Hardware & Sound option.

Hi Guys,

Having an issues which I do not think anyone has posted about. If anyone has knowledge about the following please assist!

I have a Dell xps15 (9550) and recently purchased a Caldigit Thunderbolt 2 Docking Station (TS2) in order to connect my Thunderbolt soundcard to my xps. The xps is Thunderbolt 3 tech so i had to purchase a Startech Thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 1/2 adapter which from what I can see is pretty much the only one available on the market. 

So items in my chain... Dell XPS 15 - Startech Tb3 to T1/2 Adapter - Caldigit TS2 Dock - Focurite 8preX Soundcard (links to products at bottom)

So my issue is as follows; The XPS recognises the Docking Station being plugged in. I was asked the first time whether I wanted the XPS to recognise the Dock everytime its plugged in. I selected YES. Then the trackpad froze. Even upon unplugging the Dock the trackpad is still frozen. The keyboard works fine. 

I also tried to connect a hard drive to the Dock to see whether it's recognized.... Nothing. No reaction. 

The only way to take the XPS out of this trance is to hard reset (hold down power button) on the xps. A restart sends it into a never ending cycle. 

I believe I've installed all the necessary BIOS updates so I'm a bit perplexed here.

Here I go thinking I'm future proofing myself with TB3 tech when in actual fact I'm alienating myself from all available accessories on the market.

Any help would be SUPER SUPER appreciated.

It does not boot at all, no screen at all, the (num lock/cap lock/scroll lock lights) num lock stays on, caps lock and scroll lock blink for about 30 seconds then stay on. The power button never lights.

What should I do to troubleshoot?

After taking out memory my laptop wont turn on it just has the caps and number lock button flashing for a while and nothing ever shows on the screen after a while it turns off. I tried the display test and the screen flashes different colors. How can I get the laptop to turn on?

Hi! 

Just tried to add Crucial ram to a used Precision M6500 Win7 Laptop - 2.8GHz core i7 *GB SP1 on EBay last week. After taking advice from Crucial tech this laptop will no longer boot.

Apologies for the long explanation: 

Working machine came with 8GB (2x4) of Hylinks Ram. I added 8GB (2X4) of Crucial memory under the keyboard of the machine. The machine would not boot. Pulled memory from all four slots. Put one stick of Hylink and one stick of Crucial in battery side slots to see if they work together there. The machine booted windows. So I put the other Hylink and Crucial sticks under the keyboard. The machine did not boot.

I called Crucial. Tech told me to pull the cmos battery. Wait 15 minutes and plug it back in. This is were the real fun begins!

Now the machine won't boot windows under any condition. 

I pulled the the additional memory out from under the keyboard. The machine runs the memory test and blue screen flashes on and off in a split second. It goes into startup repair mode. And ends with the following report every top I push the start button:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.... 

Launch startup repair (Recommended)"

Start up repair does not work. The machine will not boot Win7 with either 8 or 16GB in place.

So it seems pulling the cmos battery is at the bottom of this. But for the life of me I can't figure out why?

The following are things I've tried to get windows to boot that have not worked:

1.  Replacing original Hylink with new Crucial ram. And tried swapping sticks and slots.

3. Loading default settings in bios (I did remember to reset date)

3. Pulled and reinstalled the cmos battery several times.( Made certain the date was set correctly each time.)

4. Did a system restore 

5. Ran startup repair every attempt to boot.

6. Restored the MBR successfully (FixBbr - Fixboot - Rebuild Bcd). 

7. Ran and passed a hardware diagnostic.

I am still failing the startup repair routine after the initial memory test at boot.  What I am missing?

I have Dell Inspiron 15 5559 series laptop.

Start up error is occurring which says

"RunDLL There was a problem starting C:\Program Files\HP\HP Deskjet 1510 series\bin\HPStatusBL.dll"

This problem arose after I uninstalled HP Printer 1510 software,  

I installed new HP Printer 2130 software. But the problem is same.

My device has widows 10.

Kindly suggest to solve the problem.

*** Dell Support,

I've got an issue with a Vostro 3550 laptop.

When I turn the laptop on, it just doesn't boot up at all but it automatically resarts every 3 seconds meanwhile the screen is black.  The power button,  fan, 3 side buttons and also the front power indicator flash during this period. Its happens the same when it is on battery and when the power cable is connected.

I did the following tests meanwhile:

1. Remove the battery and power cable and press the power button for 1 min and try to switch on.

2. Remove the cmos battery for 10 min  and do the procedure #1

3. Remove RAM memories one by one and do the procedure #1.

4. Measure the voltage at the connector of power adapter (it was 19.3v)

5. Measure voltage at the power circuit  inside the laptop for any possible problem with laptop on board  power connector and  it was ok.

6. I checked for any disconnected ribbon or cable but everything was fine.

Anyone got any ideas what the issue is or what I'm doing wrong?

Hi I have a Dell Inspiron 1750 Laptop and the keyboard has stopped working.  It's not the whole keyboard, just certain keys, and it means that I cannot log into my laptop.  I want to buy a replacement keyboard, but am concerned about getting one off ebay or similar and finding that it's a rip off!  Can I purchase one through Dell and could I get a price please?  I have tried to find one on your site, but can't.  Many thanks Kaye

Hi! I just purchased a 9550 laptop and the keyboard is not working, although the pad work fine.

I updated all the Dell software through the site, using the automatic update detection and also updated my Windows 10, but still does not work.

If I attach a USB keyboard, it works fine.

Could you please point me in the right direction?

Dears

My laptop used to freeze 

Case happened first when I was using my computer normally suddenly it freezes then I expect that the problem was from the OS ( Win 7 ) which i have kept it for more than 3 years so I have installed another one ( Win 8 & 7 ) and it still freezes

Something I have discovered that when I install win 7 it didn't begin to freeze till i install all HD softwares ( NVIdea , sound card ... etc ) but in Win 8 it freezes from the beginning before installing any drive

N.B : I have tested the system completely using the dell diagnose system & there are no errors appeared.

I have an Inspiron 3521 running Windows 10 latest update Sometimes at start up I get a boot error, then after it is running for awhile on the battery we get a BSOD with different error message. I have replaced the battery and had reinstalled the operating system while keeping all the files. When I run the Dell Diagnostics everything checks out. I ran windows tools on the hard drive to check for errors and it fixed any issues there were. This is the second week I have reinstalled the operating system, and it still crashes more when running on the battery but it also crashes when plugged in. Any ideas on how to fix this or do I need a new laptop. These are some of the error messages we get Critical Process died and unexpected store exception.

My Caps Lock light comes up but the full keyboard does not. I have scanned with Dell Management tool from the website, installed the drives suggested and still has not worked. 

How do I solve this? I really need the lights from keyboard once I am used to work in the dark.

Looking to see if anybody has experienced the 2 issues below on their M3800?

M3800 Touch Pad is beginning to protrude out more than normal, like something inside of PC is swelling causing it to protrude out above keypad deck.

Also, the keypad deck is beginning to show signs of bubbling under keypad surface at lower left corner.
