After installing latest bios (Dell Inspiron 5459/5559/5759 SKL System BIOS 1.2.4) released 23/09/2016 my Quickset software has stopped working and when trying to uninstall or repair it I am getting an error message "Your computer's BIOS is outdated. Please upgrade to the latest version of BIOS." My laptop is Inspiron 5559 and latest updates and drivers are installed, everything is up to date.

Battery not working

Hi there,

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 5521. Since a while now my laptop is given me messages explaining my battery has a fatal error and needs to be replaced. I have been searching for a different solution than simply replacing the battery/adapter and I've seen that a lot of people had to update their BIOS. I currently have BIOS A07. When I try to update using the driver I've gotten from your site this window pops up and tells me I have to plug in my battery and adapter. Both are plugged in but I can't seem to manage to start the update.

I hope you guys can help me,

2012 XPS 15Z Catostrophic Issuses

Hello,

I bought the XPS15Z 2012 with an i5 2430M and GT525 refurbished. After 1 - 2 years, the computer started to have a calamity of errors. Everytime I would open a browser, a window would come up saying chrome.exe has stopped working. After I would press ok, a whole bunch of new window errors would pop up, with the final one saying explorer.exe has stopped working, completely destroying the desktop and having nothing else to do. I would try to run explorer.exe, but that would end up doing nothing. I had received the computer bundled with Mcafe antivirus so I'm sure no viruses were installed on the computer.

I haven't touched it in some time until around last week. I reinstalled windows on the machine, and it worked fine for around 3 hours. Then, I randomly started to get blue screens to the point where I couldn't even start up the computer. I would start up and get the error 0xc000000f. I tried everything you could imagine, including a diagnostics test. The diagnostics test said the battery was reaching the end of it's life. But other than that, no other errors! I did not think a battery would be the issue of all of these problems. This leads me to the dell forums. Even though I have my own PC, I really want to get this computer working again.

Thanks,

New laptop 7 beeps, no boot

This Dell Inspiron 5555 is brand new, received it 3 days ago.  Of the 4 times I've powered it on, twice it has only beeped in patterns of 7 and would not boot up.  I pressed the power button to turn it off, then started it again and it booted up.

I've already tried discharging static, but it did it this morning again anyway.  Frustrating to have a brand new system doing this.

Thanks for any help.

TouchPad in Windows 10

With Windows 10 at boot-up I now get a brief dialog box saying "Deleting 2 items from programs". In details there is a reference to "TouchPad Options". The TouchPad seems to be working fine and Device Manager indicates the TouchPad is working properly and that the driver is up-to-date. I am using a Dell Precision 4700 laptop with a Dell TouchPad. Why do I get the dialog box? What does it mean?

A screenshot of the dialog box is attached. See "Options"

Bought a computer, which never worked even right out of the box - help

Bought a computer, which never worked even right out of the box. Sent for warranty repair (twice) and Dell sent it back in the same faulty condition as at the beginning. Still doesn't work. 90 days on Dell refuses to accept a refund or replacement request. Tells me there is no complaints procedure, and refuses a written request to supply one. (Isn't it illegal to refuse to supply complaints details?). Worst experience of buying anything in my lifetime. I have spent hours talking on the phone to the escalation team and the Dell support staff.  They tell me that someone will call back and it does not happen.  Once they sent a Dell technician to my house and he replaced a few parts and told me that has no idea why it is not working.  He said it is a dud.  I became very frustrated when I called Dell and they told me "you can ask for a replacement or a refund, but it will not "get approved"!".  I was shocked as it is not what is written in my warranty.  Anyone had similar experience?  I don't know what to do.  I need a computer which works and spent  lot of money on the Dell laptop.  Can anyone send me useful advice?

My old precision M6500 was turned on then it shutdown without any warnings.

My battery was dead since a while ago, the battery light was blinking all the time but I did not care about using the battery.

Now if I press the power button the battery light above the keyboard and on the left side rapidly blink orange for about 2-3 seconds.

If I remove the battery and press the power button it does the same.

I tried removing the battery and pressing the power button for 30 seconds without battery. Then I pugged the power cord and pressed the power button but still the same blinking.

Is there a way to force it on or is completely dead?

Dell XPS screen issues

Hi all,

I have a 2016 Dell XPS 13 9350 Signature Edition laptop purchased about a month ago.

I have recently had a variety of issues, all happening intermittently. There does not seem to be any real pattern to these issues. I am considering returning the laptop, given the frequency of problems. These issues include:

  • Laptop turns on, with power running, but screen will not light up (especially when opening from sleep/hibernate mode
  • Laptop turns on, then turns off after 5 seconds
  • Front LED flashes 1 white, 2 yellow
  • screen is black the entire time

In the past, I was getting issues with sleep, but I have not seen these issues come up in a week since I updated all my drivers.

  • Laptop will not sleep when lid is closed (even with the appropriate lid settings), ends up getting very hot in a bag
  • Laptop will not sleep at all - seems to turn back on right after it enters sleep

Here's my specs:

  • Dell XPS 9350 Signature Edition with Touch Screen
  • OS: Windows 10 Education Edition
  • CPU: Intel Core i7-6500U CPU 2.5 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB

Dell Inspiron 15-5547 won't turn off without forcing it to. Why?

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 15-5547, and as the title states it will not completely shut down.  I have tried a Reset (Windows 10), and it did not solve the issue.

My guess is what is causing this issue to happen is the new Samsung EVO SSD I installed around the same time this started happening.  But why would this cause the problem?  I'm in another country now- It is extremely hard to return these things.

What happens is this: We turn it off normally, shutting it down completely (Not hibernate) and the backlights on the keyboard remain lit.  We then have to hold the power button until it actually shuts down.

If we didn't know about this issue or forget, this causes the laptop battery to die overnight, which can't be good for the battery.  In fact, that's what happened.  I thought the problem was that the laptop was turning itself on, but it seems to be the opposite- It doesn't turn off.  Now, here and there this does not happen.  Sometimes it does turn off normally.

Any suggestions?  Is this really because of the SSD?

Precision 3510 CPU Stuck at 0.75 Ghz

Hi all,

I recently purchased a Dell Precision 3510 with an I7 6700HQ CPU.
My problem is that the CPU seems to be stuck at 0.75 Ghz and it doesn't seem to go over 30% load. When reaches 30 % in load (and there it stays) might go up to 0.78 Ghz, but that's not happening every time.
Did a few tests while playing a few games, on battery and while charging, and on different power plans: Dell and performance. Did not activate the profiles provided by Dell regarding the power optimization.

The only time I managed to get it over 30% in load, happened when I disabled the Intel Speedstep feature from Bios. It was running indeed at 2.6 Ghz, but everything seemed to be..chaotically.

I'm not sure if this is the way it should be. Does anyone else have this problem?

The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Inspiron 15 3542

Hello, from few days a have problem with my AC power adapter.

My system says: "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined... lalalala" when my Windows says Plugged in, not charging. CPU performance does not exceed 0,78GHz.

I tried to uninstall the drivers - nothing.

I tried update my BIOS - nothing.

Replace AC - nothing

Exclude malfunctioning AC adapter.

Sometimes after a few connections begins to charge my battery, and it is a day where you do not try to charge.

But I found a solution, which is always charge my battery.

when i turn off the system, and then pulled out the battery. I push the button 'power on' for 10 seconds. And then I put back the battery and plug the charger. I turn on the system and everything works.

But once again, disconnect and plug the charger that stops charging

Where is the problem?

Inspiron 7559 Power Status Light Blinks

Just since yesterday my six week old Inspiron 7559 sometimes fails to start and when it does this, the Power and Battery Status Light blinks, two times amber then seven times white, repeats forever.  What does this 2/7 blink mean?  Is it a clue to what is wrong?  The laptop does start sometimes if I hold it at an angle.  Makes me think something is not connected properly inside.  Any ideas?

Inspiron 1520 CPU running at half speed

I have a Inspiron 1520 with a CPU running at half speed. I thought the original CPU, a Core 2 Duo T5450, was failing, as it was running at 1 to 1.2 GHz and it should be 1.6 MHz. I replaced it with a T8300 2.4 GHz, which now runs at 1.2 to 1.6 GHz.

I don't see anything in the BIOS that could change it. I'm going to try and flash the BIOS (it is at the newest version).

Anything else I can check?

Dell XPS 13 (2013) doesn't load past Dell splash screen

$

Hi Guys

I recently purchased a second hand XPS 13 and everything has been running fine until this morning.

I ran ADWCleaner for general maintenance, the machine rebooted and loaded back into Windows without issue.

Shortly after, the laptop started beeping over and over again. I tried rebooting only to find that the laptop won't load Windows and doesn't load past the Dell splash screen. There is no beeping during bootup.

Also, I am load to setup or boot selection screens after pressing  F2 or F12. The laptop appears to register if I have selected one of those two options but will not load after the Dell screen progress bar has reached 100%

I have stumbled across a couple of posts on the internet suggesting that the issue maybe motherboard related ?

Does anybody have suggestions on what I can do to resolve this issue ?

Thanks in advance.

Dell Latitude E6410 Notebook most BIOS settings are not persistent

$

When making changes in the BIOS setup program, subsequent access to the BIOS setup shows the settings have reverted to initial previous (default)  values/settings. Things that are NOT the problem:

BIOS is always under either laptop battery or AC adapter power. Battery and AC adapter are original OEM with this computer. Therefore, the problem cannot be the CMOS backup battery, because it only comes into play if the notebook battery and AC are disconnected at the same time. The notebook battery is good. It powers the unit for over 2 hours.

Things that might be the problem:

The hard drive was replaced and Debian linux was installed. The small diagnostic  partition no longer exists, because it wasn't transferred from the old drive to the new hard drive.

Finally, the settings might be persistent, but may be displayed incorrectly in the BIOS setup program.

So, why do the BIOS settings not persist?

I suspect the Dell proprietary diagnostic partition--or lack of it--is the culprit! But I want to know for sure. And I'd like a link to download the contents of the diagnostics partition for this model computer.

Thank you,

Awesome
