XPS 15 9550 Cold boot problems

0
0

When I cold boot the laptop in the morning, unit boots to Windows 10, login ok, but audio is not working and if I go to watch a video, youtube, or something that requires GPU power all *** breaks loose with things going really slow and system generally very unstable.

If I then restart unit, everything works great for the rest of the day unless I leave unit turned off for several hours and then turn on again, equivelent to a cold boot, then problems happen all over again. Restart, login and then all works fine, audio, graphics full power. etc.

If it wasnt for this problem, I would be shouting about this laptop from the roof, its awesome, I have the 32gb with 1TB M2 SSD and 4K touch screen.

Any body else getting any problems like this?

How to install windows 7 on Dell Precision 7510 from USB

Hi everyone,

I always get trouble when installing the win7 on my precision.

Currently it has an Ubuntu preinstalled system on it, but I want to install my windows 7 on my laptop.

I have read tons of threads about the problems I met and it turns out that it is the USB 3.0 port get me into the trouble.

There are also some posts addressing this problem but they all rely on windows system.

To be simplified, my precision 7510 only has USB 3.0 ports on it and its OS is preinstalled Ubuntu and I want to install windows 7 through USB port(They are all 3.0 ports).

If someone can help me I will be really appreciated.

How to Stop BEEPING noise?

My laptop has been beeping (5 times) loudly on start-up and then silently but continuously during use.

I know this indicates a battery problem, but for now, I really just need to disable this - I am a student and can't use my laptop in the library if it's like this. I've tried Googling answers, but I can't figure out how to disable the beeps. Please help.

Thanks.

Error code using EPSA diagnostics tool

Hi there

I have a query regarding my Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720. I have had serious boot up issues recently and now, after doing the epsa diagnostic test it's has given me the following error code:

Error code 2000-0142

Validation 83097

Msg: Hard drive 0 S/N xxxxxxxx short self test unsuccessful (the x's are just the serial number it displays)

After searching online about this it seems the hard drive is now useless, I would like to know if that's true?

The computer now just displays the windows icon with the message under it "Diagnosing your pc" and dots spinning in a circle and it does that for hours. I have windows 10 on the machine which was the free upgrade from windows 7. I have no access to any other machine and no recovery media.

Please help!

Latitude 7350 multi-touch drivers - 'This software does not work on your operating system'

I have a Dell Latitude 13 7350 2 in 1 running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and I'm trying to install the multi-touch drivers from the Dell site which are listed as version 10.1207.101.113 ,A06 and compatible with Win10 x64 however when I run the installer I get the error 'This software is not compatible with your operating system.  Click Ok to exit setup'

I've tried downloading again in case it was a corrupt download but same on the second attempt, I've extracted the files and run the Vi64\DPinst.exe install which seemed to work fine although I'm not seeing any difference in control panel, the mouse version isn't updated and I'm not seeing any applet for the touchpad to configure it (although I know that's not always the case now).

Any tricks for running the installer and is it possible to get more options to customise the touchpad?  The main problem is simply that I want to disable the pinch to zoom.

Dell M3800 won't turn on (out of warranty)

We have a Dell M3800 (tag no 66DKG12) that will not power on. It is out of warranty.

 A few things I have noticed are;

1)      The LED  on the power plug is on, but the charge LEDs do not show as charging

2)      If I disconnect the battery and then plug it back in, the charge LEDs will then show, but it will still not power on.

3)      There is no sign of life from the power switch, not even a flash.

Any ideas if I can get this repaired?

7359 2-in-1 not auto-rotating into tablet mode after Win 10 Anniversary update

My 7359 2-in-1 stopped auto-rotating into tablet mode after I installed the Windows 10 Anniversary update last night, and the Rotate button in the Action Center has disappeared, as well.

Both features worked yesterday, pre-update.

Is anyone else having this issue? Is there any solution besides "Ctrl-Alt-Arrow"?

TIA.

Keyboard Backlight Controls Greyed Out/ Not working

My Dell Inspiron 15 5558's keyboard backlight will not stay on. I just installed the Dell Feature Enhancement Pack 2.2.1, and no help.

When I go into the Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, "Dell Keyboard Backlight Settings", the third tab on it is for "Backlight," but it is greyed out and I cannot use it.

I have just spent way too much time today trying to chase this down on Google and in Dell forums, but I remain stuck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you,

JJ

Anything new on the WD15 front?

Still waiting and hoping new information is out there to help get my WD15 fully functional. The USB 3.0 ports still don't work, at all. Everything's updated on the XPS 13 9350 it's attached to. Still frustrated about the money I spent on this thing and it doesn't work as advertised. Come on Dell, help a fella out.

Alienware 18 - Need Upgrade Help

So I recently discovered that you can now get a GTX 1080 in to a notebook (however I have yet to find a retailer or site that sells just the GPU). Any links to a website or retailer would be lovely. With such a high performance GPU I'll will need a better CPU as well. But I am worried that my laptop cooler will not be able to control the heat. Obviously I don't want to fry my computer so confirmation on the amount of heat from a better GPU and CPU would be nice as well. Is thermal paste recommended? Also, would it be better to get a electronic store to install the components or would it be easier to install them myself (I don't trust myself enough)?
Any help at all would be appreciated.

Current GPU and CPU:
Nvidia GTX 770M
Intel Core i7-4700MQ

I hoped for more Dell i5458

I ordered the Dell i5458 on the 25th of August for school. What a drag, man.

I was wondering if my issues were Windows 10 related or hardware related?

Picture it, sicily 1914 - jk... more like August 28th 2016. I get the new Dell laptop and open it with some excitement. Update software and drivers first, load my available softwares (Office, Adobe CC, Steam) and head off to my college classes. Touch screen is great, UE is great.

*WHIIIRRRRR rrrrrr pthththtp* First rando shut down, of many.

Call Dell. "hurr durr hurr hurr durr hurr durr" - fix

yassssss. Play some games, surf some web, complete the college thing

problem again "..........."

simply won't start up at all this time.

Call Dell. "There's a magic trick for this, sir" - fix

20 minutes of notes during a documentary - *pthththtp"

simply won't start up again. My face =)> :|

Dell support: "send it in we'll replace a thing. 7-10 days."

me: "no"

Amazon: "return it, breh"

I can't for the life of me understand why I would want to send it in for service after 2 different techs took over my laptop remotely and couldn't fix anything. Is it windows or bad hardware? I just know it was a terrible experience dealing with Dell when they sent me a festering failure.

awks.

Hi,

Can Dell give me a master password to my PC?

I don't know the password and I can't currently change BIOS settings.

I am using a Latitude e6410 - any help (even a contact email for the master password from Dell!) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Andy.

Hey all.

I've got a Dell Latitude E6320 where the driver installer for the Dell Wireless 1530 wireless card fails.  I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, the computer boots in UEFI mode, and I've installed all of the drivers according to the Latitude E-Family Re-Image Guide.

I've got a log, as well, it says this:

The new XPS 15 Screen dims (and now flickers a bit) even when it's plugged in

0
0

Have a new XPS 15 laptop (since December 2015) and from Day One the display dims to less than half brightness at least once between uses.  It seems to be fine once I go to Settings and reset to 50 Brightness.  But it has begun to flicker slightly and concerned that something more serious will occur.  Have had a few driver error messages but not recently.  Again, this is not unplugged on a power saver program.  It's plugged in.

Have a Best Buy Geek Squad plan and finally finished a warranty call today on phone/chat where the tech made sure the latest updates have been applied to the chipset/graphics drivers. Unfortunately, the problem still exists (15 minutes later) and I can't afford to be without this laptop to check into the Geek Squad hospital for a couple of weeks.  Anyone else having this problem?  Any solutions that keep my laptop in my hands?

Otherwise, the laptop is fast (SSD & 6th gen I7) and the display (at my brightness level) looks good.

Thanks, Rob
