The temperature of CPU usually is over 80°C. Please help me find the reason of this problem. My laptop have warranty expire date to 12/2018. I wonder if my laptop have a problem with system fan.

Same Problem here, Hardware ID 05851028 is supported by DCG08 Dell says, but that's Intel HD 4000, while this 3010 has an 2000 or 3000. Same PCI ID is in driver C2JMM, which is older, thus get's not selected, but works, contrary to the suggested.

Received different laptop setup of what I purchased

Hello everyone,

This might sound stupid idk. At the end of 2014 I purchased a Alienware. Perfect and powerful laptop.

It was supposed to come with an AMD Radeon R9 M290X gpu. But it came with a Radeon HD 8970M. Yeap, I saw that only now 2 years after purchase the laptop. I never payed attention to this detail untill now.

My question is: Is there much difference between them?

The problem is that these laptops are very expensive and it would be a problem if I received something inferior of what I payed.

Thanks a lot

Enabling Hyper-v support on a Dell xps 15 9550

I am trying to enable hyper-v on a Dell xps 15 9550 with Windows 10 pro 64 bit

I turned on all options in BIOS regarding virtualisation that I could find but Windows is still refusing to start hyperv hypervisor and docker claims it is not enabled in BIOS. However, I cannot find any more stuff to enable?

Any ideas?

Dell Latitude D-630 Backlight but no display

I was donated this laptop.. and was pretty sure it worked better at one time.. but had some display problems, and progressively worse.

I seem to only have a Backlight- no external monitor Display. Although message on External Monitor "check cable connect" does go out when it's plugged into the external port.

It does sometimes boot up to the OS-(sometimes). I can hear the Welcome sound..

Other times It doesn't seem to boot up to the OS?  (I know the keyboard is malfunctioning and hear beeeep beep beeeping.)

But It would be nice to see the BIOS Options on start at least. or Get the External Screen to work to see what might be going on..

Wifi / Power/ Bluetooth/Battery and HD buttons light up on the Right-
ON the Far Left - one of the lights with the lock icon(?) is light up.

I have a feeling it might have something to do with the Factory Aluminum Shims under the Processor and Display Chip.

Makes no Difference with the RAM or Battery removed.. except that it definitely won't boot...
I always use the Adaptor for the Power.

I'm not sure if Holding Down FN + start is doing anything.  Sometimes I just see a BLACK Screen and don't hear anything...
Could it be running a Diagnostic and I don't know..(with just the Power/Battery and Bluetooth light)
And if so- How long might it take / Could it fix the problem - or just give me a message to let me know what the problem is- which I won't see.

Could I disable the keyboard- without disabling the power? Can one of the Keyboard Ribbons (Cables)be cut and still enable the power_Perhaps that might be of some help..
If so I could use an external keyboard.?

Dell broke my screen after I sent it in for another issue

In October of last year, I helped my son purchase a laptop for University. I recommended he purchase a Dell product because of its reputation for quality and good customer support. He purchased an Inspiron 7558 Model. From the beginning it started having internet connectivity issues. The problem was intermittent and random and gradually became worse.

I used to work as a computer technician and I am fairly knowledgeable about computers so I tried various solutions to try and fix the problem myself. I spent hours if not days on this, researching support groups and tried updating software and drivers but the problem persisted.  Since he needed a working laptop for his school term, we decided to address matter with Dell in the summer. We contacted Dell and again I spent hours with Dell Tech Support and they had me install propriety diagnostics software and remotely accessed the laptop to attempt to resolve the problem. Lastly they had me replace the wireless modem, which still did not resolve the issue.

The internet connectivity issue remained unresolved and Dell recommended that we send in the laptop for them to look at. Support emailed us the Purolator shipping label and I used the original box to ship it to Dell.  About a week later we received notice from Tech Support that the laptop had arrived “damaged”, the screen was cracked and as a result they would not honour the warranty and fix the internet issue until I paid them $400 to first fix the damaged screen. When I asked how they determined that it was not damaged in the shipping, they claimed that the packaging was undamaged but did not send me pictures of the packaging. They actually accused me of damaging the screen before I shipped the laptop. This was the same laptop they had walked me through possible solutions over the phone the same day they suggested I send it in.  If it was in such a damaged state, how would that have been possible? I then saw the picture of the cracked screen, it was not “cracked” was smashed like it had been stepped on or dropped from a good height. (I have searched various forums and have found that I am not the only one this has happened to.)

I asked Tech Support to hold unto the unit until I could get this matter straightened out; I talked to someone in Customer Support who appeared to understand and was going to call me back to deal with this. It made no sense that I would have to pay $400 for a new screen for a malfunctioning laptop when there no guarantee the internet issue could even be resolved.

Three days later, there is no further call from Customer Support and Tech Support sent me back the laptop in worse shape than when I sent it, the internet issue is not fixed and the screen is not just a small crack as they described, it looks like someone intentionally damaged it.

I called Dell and again spent several hours trying to get to the bottom of this. I am told if it was damaged in shipping that I should file a claim with Purolator. Dell arranged and paid for the shipping and apparently did not cover it for insurance, I am a third party to this transaction so how would I file a claim with Purolator? I was told after I should have taken a picture of the laptop prior to shipping it. No one told me to do so before I shipped it, only after. If this was a requirement, why was I not advised as I would have been happy to do so?

So bottom line, my son spent over $1000 for a faulty laptop that Dell could not fix remotely. After we sent it in for repair under warranty it is now mysteriously “damaged” and now Dell is saying it will not honour the warranty. I received no support to fix my issue, I was called a liar, customer service refused to escalate the matter and they could not e-mail me the contact for Dell’s legal department, I had to have them dictate it to me. This was honestly some of the worst dealings with a “customer support/service” department that I have ever had.

Dell has left me with no choice but to go to court to try and recoup our losses and for all the time and aggravation we have spent dealing with this matter. My son is a student and cannot afford to replace his laptop after one year of use.  I had hoped that Dell would just replace the defective laptop but now I feel my experiences with Dell customer service leaves me to wonder why I would want to keep dealing with your company. My experience suggests that Dell does not care about their customers and no longer stands behind their product or the conduct of their employees. Prove me wrong.

Design Problems in inspiron 5548

I guess my product is having some design problems. Cause every time i open or close the lid it makes a click sound. Also I Inspected it, the wires from Screen and WLAN are bitten off due to grinding in opening and closing of lid. I once already had a issue of flickering lines on screen, which was solved by dell by replacing the screen but It could had been fault of technician that he didnt do hid job properly cause just after 2 months, that problem is back again.

Since my product now is out of warranty, therefore i thought of checking the problem and opened it to find that the wires from Screen and WLAN passing from hinge section of lid are grinded off and these must be the possible reason of the issue.

I strongly condemn DELL to take proper action against these issue, Cause i cant afford repllacement of parts as an option. Extreamly Unhappy with service and product issue.

Failed SPROM Validation on my Inspiron laptop 3521 W-7 64bit

Hi, I am getting download speeds of aronnd 88 MBPS on my desktop and 35 MBPS on my Insprion. I did a diagnostics test using DW WLAN UTILITY CARD. The SPROM test failed the validation test.

My internet connection may drop out once in awhile, like every few week for a few minutes. I did click on update all the drivers for the network adapters and all are up to date.

 SPROM Format Validation (verifies the content of the SPROM by reading a portion of the SPROM and computing the checksum)

I do not know what this affects, nor what else I should do, if anything. I ran this test thinking my wireless speed should be higher. 88 desktop vrs 35 on this laptop. router is an old netgear n-150 WR1000

Router should be able to handle up to 150 MBPS. Also when I connect it dircetly to modem using an Ethernet cable speeds are same as the desktop.

Thank you Gary

I want to upgrade my drive to a hybrid TB drive but I can only find those in 9.5mm width. Will that fit my laptop?

I can't find a straight answer in the support docs.

Dell 7510 boot failure when SD card is in the SD card reader

In the boot sequence the SD Card reader is third -- after the SSD and the CD/DVD.  It is third in BIOS and third after pressing F12 during POST.  With a card in the SD Card Reader boot fails with what I call a green screen.  When I ran the repair CD with the SD card in the slot, the message was that the boot sector was corrupt.  Why is BIOS trying to read the SD Card instead of the SSD?  The SD card is SanDisk Ultra II SD 4 15 MB/s 2GB.  Please let me know when a new version of BIOS is available.

External / Extended battery options for Dell Precision M7710 laptop (Power Companion)

I'm wondering if there are any recommended external extended runtime battery options for the 7710 series laptop.

I see dell now has some external add-on battery options for longer runtime for the 5510 -- the Dell Power Companion 1800 mAh

accessories.us.dell.com/.../ProductDetail.aspx

but I assume it must not have sufficient output for the 17" 7700 series.

Is there an equivalent product for the 7700 series? I'd like to add 12 hours of runtime for a location that may have a few power outages a year and wouldn't mind buying a couple or few of these devices if there were one which was compatible.

Hi, I've this laptop to repair and I''m facing big trouble to find drivers and possibly to find some hardware issues with it. First I ran diagnostics within setup and found that DVD drive is bricked. I removed it. Also I got BSOD with WHEA_... some message which said that Win has problems with some hardware or drivers. OK, I replaced thermal paste and currently I'm not getting this problem. Realtek FE driver I tried to install couple versions but it says me device cannot start - error code 10. Also there is problem with the Bluetooth adapter driver. What can I do to fix it. Thank you.

No HDMI signal after Win 10 upgrade

Hi,

My Dell XPS 15 9530 from 2014 no longer seems to be able to connect via HDMI to TV or projector since I upgraded from Win 8 to Win 10. It worked before. I get "no signal" on the second screens.

Spent half a day already on this, googling and trying the following:

* Updating to the latest Dell drivers, Windows updates, and Nvidia updates.
* Disabling either of Intel (HD Graphics 4600) or Nvidia (GT 750M) graphics cards
* Rolling back to older versions of display drivers
* Trying different HDMI cables
* Running Dell's diagnostics tool
* Lowering screen resolution
* Restarting everything

But nothing works.

The external screens don't show up in Screen Properties. Pressing Fn+F8 brings up the four choises (Duplicate etc.) but nothing happens when I click any of those options.

Some posts I found via googling seem to suggest that Win 10 simply isn't compatible with HDMI in some laptop/graphic card/CPU configurations. Can this really be the case, or what can I do?
