L521X white/yellow battery light?

$

I have a new L521X laptop and have used it for a week.  Notice that the white light in front of the laptop will turn from white to yellow on occasion.  I leave it plugged in and the battery always shows 100%.  If the light is white, when I shut the laptop off the light goes out even with charger plugged in.  However when it decides to turn yellow, the light will stay on when the laptop is turned off.  The light only will then go out if I unplug the charger.  No where could I find in the documentation on what the 2 color lights mean.  Not sure if I have a problem or not.  Anyone have any ideas?

Hello to everyone,

I have a inspiron 5520 computer and recently I reinstalled the operating system (windows 8)  and the drivers one by one from the official dell site,
Then I realized that it is possible to recover additional software like "powerdvd" Using "my dell downloads"
When I tried to run "my dell downloads" I received the following message"service tag is already registered or is invalid"
In addition I would like to note that I used the same username that I using at that moment, and as I called to telephone service in Israel, they won't know what to do.
I would be grateful if you can help.

Aharon.

Usb 3.0 not working?

$

I own a Dell inspiron 17r n7110 and it has 3 usb ports. One usb 2.0 and two usb 3.0. My Ziebal 60 keyboard requires 2 usb ports to operate at highest performance and it provides two usb 2.0 ports when it is plugged in. For some reason whenever I plug the keyboard into my two 3.0 ports it does not get any power at all, or register. For that matter I can't get any usb 2.0 device to work in a 3.0 port. Is this a limitation of usb 3.0, an issue with my keyboard, or am I supposed to do something to turn on my 3.0 ports?

I am looking to purchase a Latitude E6540 laptop. Intel lists the 4th Gen Mobile CPU's as being able support up to 32GB of RAM, will the E6540 support this much RAM? Dell does not offer it as a option but am wondering if 3rd party memory will allow this configuration.

using Dell Inspiron 5521, Just bought few days back.

When I plug in adapter a quickset message popup ...

"65W AC power adapter has been determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will take more time charge. Ensure the plug is inserted completely for best system operation. Connect a Dell 90W AC Adapter or higher.

Why the system is throwing this message? Is there any problem with my adapter? or my laptop?

Reviewed the thread http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19307238.aspx with similar issue but could not find the solution.

Can anyone help me regarding this issue?

Inspiron N4110 replaced screen and LEDs are not ON.

Hello,

I've Dell Inspiron 14R N4110 laptop. Recently my laptop screen is broken. When I turned on the power, I was able to see the cracked screen and screen LEDs glowing bright so that I can see cracks on the screen and partial working screen.

I got a replacement screen, fixed it, and there is a display on screen but not bright because the LEDs of the screen are not on. I could bearly see the screen because the LEDs are not on and the display works well on an external monitor thru HDMI cable.

I returned screen and got another replacement screen, and the same behavior. The is a display on replaced screen but dark because again LEDs are not on for brighter display of the screen.

I did hardware diagnosis of the laptop and here are the error details (I really kicked in power into my eyes to see into this dark display to note the error msg)

Error Code: 2000-0333
Validation 43645
Msg: Video - User provided no input for graphics test

There are many DELL users out on the internet with the same issue. No solution from DELL yet.

Any solution to this issue is highly appreciated.......Thanks in advance......Joseph

Crazy N4010

Hello, I don't usually post to forums like this except to offer solutions because I generally can solve my own problems. However I have recently obtained an N4010 laptop that the previous owner just didn't want to spend the time and money to fix. He said he used it for a while and it just stopped turning on. My first step after noticing that there were no lights at all when plugged in, was to test the power supply with a multimeter. I got the results expected so I moved along and replaced the main board with a used, claimed-to-be-working one. After that was done, I got the same results! Next, I ordered a new power adapter and immediately had a solid white charging LED....for about 10 minutes. After that, it began flashing like it was asleep. I have also removed the battery and AC adapter and held the power button for 60 seconds to no avail. When I plug it in without the battery, the charge light flashes once and then nothing. WITH the battery, it flashes like asleep. In both cases; when I press the power button, the power button, charge light, and optical drive flash for 1 second and then nothing. I cannot update the bios as I cannot make it boot. I have ordered a brand new charging port, but am unsure of what that will bring. I have also removed the memory with no change and even unplugged the trackpad because I saw a few cases where that was a problem. No matter what I do, I still get 1 flash and nothing. No HDD or display activity at all. No beeps either. I cannot see any broken solders on the power jack, but as I said I have one on the way just in case. This thing is driving me nuts! I don't like "throwing" parts at things. What can I do to DIAGNOSE instead of guessing? Thanks in advance and I would be happy to fill in any blanks or answer any questions. I hope this can help someone in the future.

Good Morning, i recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15R SE,

and it is running too low on my every command,

when i turn on it takes like 2 minutes to start up and one more minute to load the desktop.

And ehn i open any program or explorer window(such as google chrome, my documents, my computer... ) it takes too much time considering the PC hardware.

I've run MS Fixit, but the issue persists.

My question is, what should i do?

is there a model issue or something, if theres nothing to do i'll be compelled to take my money back!

Inspiron N5110 screen random shut-off

Hello,

I am running an Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop with Windows 7. My problem appears to be as follows:

My screen randomly will shut off randomly (in the same way that hitting the "Display On/Off" button does, but without me pressing it.) There is no chance that I am pressing it because I am usually typing and my fingers are not anywhere near that area. When the screen shuts off, there is no display, but I can move the mouse again to turn the screen back on. When the screen turns back on, the content on the screen has not changed in any way - as if the display shutoff never happened.

Could someone please help clarify what is going on here? And, if possible, what I should do to fix this problem?
Thanks.

Dell Inspiron 1545 - Two beeps will not boot

I have a dell inspiron 1545 that I bought last year that now just recently will not boot up, When I hit the power button the power light will come on, I hear the hard drive and the fan boot up but the screen will stay blank and I will here two beeps. When I leave it there it will just sit there and beep.

Occasionally it will boot up but it will freeze and the screen will become pixelted in a way

I've done a little bit of research and found that it may be a RAM problem and that I may need to replace it but before I do that I just want to get some reassurance on the Dell forums before I go out and buy something I can't return.

Dell XPS 15 Hard drive sound

I brought this XPS 15 Laptop last week. From past 2 says I am hearing some kind of continuous scratching or grinding sound from hard drive/disc. This sound is periodic ( have period of approximately 30 seconds) goes low pitch to high pitch. This sound is particularly annoying especially  in quiet surroundings. Does any one have same problem? Can this could lead to potential hard drive failure?.

D630 display problem

Hi all,

Hope you can help. I've bought a used D630 - its a great laptop apart from this display issue.

After start-up I am getting horizontal lines covering nearly the whole screen, which slowly start to disappear on their own. It first started with only an inch or 2 of these lines at the bottom of the screen, and now it has progressed to covering almost the entire screen, but as I say they always go on their own without me doing anything. It takes about 3-5 mins to clear normally.

This doesn't happen when the laptop has been to sleep, or when the lid is simply closed and re-opened, it is only when it starts up, after shut down. It doesn't happen if I re-start the laptop.

Any help is much appreciated!

Single Computer (Dell Inspiron 1545) on Wireless Network Suddenly Extremely Low Signal Strength

$

It used to always be 4-5 bars one room away from the router. Suddenly, it's only 1-2 bars, and I have been noticing connection problems. I have tried resetting my computer, the router, and the modem. Even when I move into the same room with the router, I only get 4 bars out of 5. I didn't change anything or add any new devices. No phones, either. Changing the router channel doesn't help either.

No other computer or device on the network has experienced this problem. No new devices have been added to the network. No new devices in general (phones, etc.) have been added to the house. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless network card, it did not help.

Dell Inspiron N5110: Webcam and Mic Not Found

$

I bought a Dell Inspiron N5110 back in 2011 (it's out of warranty), and from day one, I have never been able to get the internal mic or webcam to work. I've always just assumed that I'd get around to fixing it eventually, but...  I'm really beginning to need it now, and after weeks and weeks of scouring the web and finding only useless information, I thought I'd just start a new thread.

What's Wrong:

- The mic does not react whatsoever to noise (the green bar doesn't fluctuate with external sound)

- Dell Webcam Central says that "No supported webcam [is] connected"

- Dell PC Diagnostics says that "The applicable device does not exist"

- Neither the mic nor the webcam are appearing in Device Manager

Yes,

- I've made sure the mic is enabled

- I've made sure that I've downloaded all of the prescribed drivers (in the correct order)

- I've uninstalled and reinstalled Dell Webcam Central

- I've tried every weird, off-the-wall, forum idea I could find

... Nothing works. The only thing that strikes me as odd in conjunction with this is that I get a randomly appearing error message from the taskbar telling me that a "USB Device [Is] Not Recognized". I read somewhere that this could have something to do with the webcam error, but I don't know. If it was under warranty, I'd just bite the bullet and send it in for repairs, but I don't have that kind of money right now... surely there's something I can do on my own?

I will give you my first born male child if you help me figure this out.

Inspiron 17R SE (7720) Not Turning On, Battery LED lit up orange

$

Starting a few days ago, my Dell 17R SE (7720) would freeze completely to all inputs, including the power button, trackpad, and keyboard, but the screen was still on, and you could see that the computer was still functioning (things on screen were still moving, just that no inputs worked). I would have to unplug the AC Adapter and the laptop's battery to get it to start working again, and it would only turn on if I only re-inserted the AC Adapter, after that I would insert the battery. The freezing of inputs has happened multiple times, after 3-4 hours of medium use.

Later, the laptop shut itself down, and then I was able to turn it on using the method I described above (When it shut down, the LED on the edge of the laptop representing the Battery turned orange, and it may have blinked (I am not certain as to whether it blinked or not)). Then the computer shut itself down again, and I tried to use the same method described above, in addition to variations to that method, as well as trying suggestions by Dell Customer Service employees found on these forums (For example removing all extensions to the computer, such as the battery and AC Adapter, etc., and then holding the power button for an extended period of time (10-60 seconds), and then reconnecting the AC Adapter and the battery and pressing the power button).

The battery life according to the Dell application that came with this Windows 8 laptop was still at 100% as of a few days ago, and when it shut down, it had near full battery left, and it did not seem as if the battery cannot hold a charge anymore. This is the second day the laptop is not turning on, and I have gotten the motherboard on this replaced once already due to the computer not booting past the Dell screen a few months ago.

Thanks for your help in advance!
