I have a Dell 13 7347 which does suffer from the 'Ghost touch' problem a bit. I have turned off the Touch screen in the device manager and that fixes it.
However, over the past 3 month the laptop develops a problem with runnaway charracter entry. I thought it was the touch screen but now I am not so sure. It was so bad that I did a clean install of the anniversary release - I was using the various insider releases for the previous months.
I thought it was fixed, but it has just started again. It is very difficult to identify the root cause as it happens in a number of applications.
The problem is:
1. The mouse becomes very sluggish and is difficult to move around with touch pad.
2. Right click on the task bar does nothing - ie no tool bar menu or can open the start menu
3. In notepad or any text document including forum posts, entering an 'Enter' will result is x100s of entries slowly adding to the previous. Esc will stop it.
4. Typing search queries into IE, random spaces are added to the text eg 'wh er e is my n ew car ?'
5. The sign-on screen is Greyed Out 'OK', and Esc and Enter and a few Left click eventually give the Pin Box to fill in.
6. The document/apps open that were used recently randomly open continuously.
7. Opening a .Jpg in Irfanview ( a nice picture viewer) works until you use enter full screen mode ( an 'Enter' key) when is just opens multiple images of the same and flicks between full screen and view mode.
8. Trying text into an email (I use Windows Live Mail as I need an off live client) does the same as Notepad. You have to keep hitting Esc to stop the CR's.
After clearing 'junk' with the Disc Clean Up (and system) and CCleaner and several reboots it will settle down and be completely normal. This is a fresh install only 2 days, I have run a Malwarebyes scan and found nothing. I have also run SFC /scannow, and found nothing.
Ihave now swapped the SSD to the original HDD which I had removed almost immediately so apart from some migration and back up s/w it is as supplied. The laptop boots with exatly the same problem as the SSD, and has all the same problems. I therefore conclude it must be in the hardware or bios.
The bios is the latest from Dell, so it must be the laptop itself.
I would appreciate any help on further troubleshooting as the PC is unusable with the problem.
Thanks
