Constant restarting

0
0

I am not sure if this is the best forum for this question, but here it goes.  Lately it seems that my XPS 15 9550 is constantly restarting and I'm not sure why.  Almost every time I wake up my computer, it has been restarted and everything I had open is closed.  I am not sure if this is from Dell updates being installed or Windows updates, or something completely different.  I would like to be able to have some sort of control over when this is going to happen.

RE: Faulty Dell Laptop / Customer Service Feedback

Hi folks,

I wanted to post the fact that Dell sold me a faulty laptop in July last and I had a complete nightmare gaining a refund.  I had to fight for over 28 x days to have my money returned and in the end I requested my Credit Card provider to resolve the matter legally.

I was also lied to on many occasions by the staff Gian, Vishka and Shahank who repeatedly promised me manager call-backs and also that the courier was en-route to collect the faulty item.   I was asked to please be patient to allow them to resolve the matter asap (which I was) and my gesture was completely throwm back in my face on multiple occasions.  I am still waiting for the Senior Manager call-back I was promised TEN DAYS ago, although now the situation has gone to far for any kind of amicable resolution.

I shall NEVER purchase from Dell ever again as it is totally criminal of them to retain a customers money.  I have probably spent at least 20 x hours on the phone before I managed to make any headway with the situation.  I have been a Dell loyal customer since 2011 and this would have been the third PC I purchased from them.  Therefore, it is utterly abysmal for them to treat me (or anyone!) like this.

I am considering posting a copy of the entire dialogue here (as well as other computer forums/sales-reviews) online as it is quite unbelievable.  I only wish I had recorded the phone conversations.

Yes, I was provided with some compensation (which I do appreciate), however it was the very least you could have done and I still feel that the members of staff involved should have been sacked on the spot for their repeated misconduct.

Thank you,

9550 - stuck on dell logo at boot

Hi everyone, I took delivery of a 9550 (32Gb, 4k) 2 weeks ago. Did all the usual updates - only problem was the flickering screen, which I see is due to be fixed in a later BIOS update.

Then 2 days ago, I got the win10 anniversary update. Since then, the 2 times I've turned it on from cold, it's sat at the dell logo & never booted windows. Both times I've been able to fix it by going into the BIOS, not changing anything, but saving & restarting. Then it boots fine. I found some older posts from people with these kinds of problems, but I wasn't sure whether those issues were still present in the latest BIOS (1.2.10), which I've got, or if I had some other issue. It seems odd that it only happened after the anniversary update, but it would be equally strange for the anniversary update to affect a cold boot but not a reboot.

Any ideas?

Java Installers and Remover Will not open

Hello! I have a problem with my Dell XPS M1330. I finally got it to run properly after factory restoring it, but it came with all of the software installed on it in 2007. It had jre 6 installed on it, and I deleted it, for security, with the intention to install jre 8. I downloaded jre 8 online and offline, and they don't open at all. I cleared my temp files, they still don't open. The java removal tool won't open either. Other applications I installed, like Firefox and Office opened fine with no problem. It's just java. I tried online and offline, admin mode and not, and even the removal tool. But none of the java applications will start. Any suggestions? If you are wondering, I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium. I'm pretty sure it has the latest updates, but I keep getting one or two updates at a time. I don't know if I have Service pack two or not. Thanks!

Why is it so difficult to find what stylus works on my new laptop?  Does anyone know if the N1DNK will work with this system?  If not, what have you been using from light drawing and not taking.

Can I upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 8?

Hello everyone: first, I may not be in the right forum but I could not find one to deal with my issue. If you can help me here, great. But, after reading my comments and you decide that's there a proper forum please advise me how to navigate to it so that I can re-place my comments there.

I own a DELL INSPIRON 3647, running Windows 8.1, and it's on a rolling cart. Whenever I want to use it, I got to roll it out, plug it in and go at it. Sometimes it's just to check a website and when I'm through I gotta put it away. To get around that I've purchased several small laptops but I'm far from being pleased for various reasons.

Today I bought a DELL LATITUDE E6430 but it's loaded with Windows 7. For my needs I could possibly live with it as it is. But I'd rather upgrade it to 8.1. I could go to YouTube and select one of the many videos showing how to do it.

But if it's possible, I'd prefer to use the Operating System disks that DELL sent me with the purchase (from them) of the INSPIRON. So my question to the members is: Can I use the INSPIRON disks to upgrade the LATITUDE?

Let me hear pros and cons and any hints, tips, suggestions, etc., you may have which I will appreciate.

Following the most recent updates (last week), I believe there was an update to the Audio Device Driver and some Windows Updates my Dell XPS 15 9550 will no longer shutdown, selecting shutdown causes the laptop restart after a few seconds. The only way to power off the laptop is via the power button. :-(

Upgrade SSD for Dell XPS 15 9550

Hello,

I have Dell XPS 9550 with configuration SSD 32GB + HDD 500 GB. I would like to upgrade SSD for more space avaliablity.

But I don't know what type of SSD I will need to buy. Also I read XPS 15 Service Manual. There is two chapter for removing and replacing of SSD in the service manual. Firts chapter is for SSD half-length, second chapter is for SSD full-length.

What type of SSD is mounted in my laptop? Half-length or full-length?

How can I identificate SSD needed for me in shops (dimensions, label, etc)?

What interface for SSD do I need?  PCIE or SATA?

What is formfactor? M2.2280 or PCI-E AIC (add-in-card)?

Thanks in advance!

Latitude E5570 - Resolution issue

Hello, this is my first post and hopefully someone can help me with my problem.

Here at work I've had a Dell Latitude E6530 i5 since I started six months ago. Being a graphic designer I soon realized it wasn't powerful enough, so our IT department just got me a Dell Latitude E5570 i7 which apparently is supposed to be better in my line of work.

I use the laptop screen as a secondary screen, and have a bigger Dell screen as my primary screen.

Now to my problem; on my old Latitude E6530 I used a 1600 x 900 resolution, which I thought was perfect. Now, with the Latitude E5570, I can only get 1366 x 768, which I don't really like.

So is there any way I can get the same resolution in my E5570?

I'm taking the risk of getting bashed across the head here, but I've been a Mac dude all my life so I don't have much experience in the rest of the computer world. Hopefully someone can assist me anyway, so I thank you in advance, cheers :-)

Black out with non beep sound

I put my Inspiron 3521 laptop on sleep by just closing the lid. After sometime when I opened  it but nothing showed on screen. I tried my moving my finger on touchpad but nothing happened. Then I forcefully shut it ddown and again switched it on. But nothing happened again. I removed the battery and put it back and tried again but no screen comes up. I left it for sometime and again tried, this time the power light and cpu light goes on and after two second cpu light goes off and only power light remains. Now laptop starts making sounds like "tak tak tak tak tak". The sound starts at high volume and stops after getting low and repeat itself. I even tried removing the battery and doing this on power plug only but same thing happens again. I know that that it is not a beep sound. And because even dell logo doesn't shows up, so I can't even get it boot up or any thing else ... What shoud I do now?

How to Remove Labels on Laptop Surfaces

0
0

I just bought a new Inspiron 15 laptop. Great looking machine except for the 3" square ugly label someone stuck right on the front below the keyboard. I can live with the Intel Core i7 label, but Dell's label is ugly and worse, whoever stuck it on folded one of the corners under so it looks even worse.

How do I remove the label and without leaving any sticky stuff to forever mar the surface?

I am surely not the first person to want the label off.

XPS 15 9550 Shutdown Problem

0

Hello,

I know that there was lots and lots of posts about the same problem for XPS 15 9550 not shutting down properly.

Unfortunately, I tried them all, and ended up in a sort of weird situation where I could not find a relevant post.

Today, out of sudden, my laptop started to reboot automatically few seconds after I shut down. As soon as I turned the computer off, the laptop would turn on again by itself.

To solve this problem, I tried various things on the internet, which did no help.

After some trial however, I managed to stop the laptop from starting automatically (I have no idea how).

But the problem is that, when I turn on the laptop and look at CPU uptime from the Task Manager, the numbers show that CPU did not just start from the time I turn on the laptop. Instead, it shows that CPU had been on for the whole time when I even turned the laptop off.

(For example, it showed that CPU was running for hours even though I just turned on the laptop.)

And only restarting the laptop or long-pressing power button will reset the CPU's uptime.

Hope to find a solution here. Thanks in advance!

Venue 8 Pro 5830 shuts down after a few minutes

Venue 8 Pro 5830 running Windows 8.1

After a few minutes, the screen goes black and it completely shuts down. When I try turn it back on, almost every time it sends me to BitLocker Recovery, where you have to key in the very long string of numbers. It then seems to work fine for a short time before going through the whole process again. The tablet gets quite hot, so I'm thinking the thing is overheating, but I'm not an expert on these things (that's probably obvious).

I have tried to use the Diagnostic Tools on the Dell website. I have also tried downloading any updated drivers. The problem is that it shuts down again before I can complete anything.

Also, wireless keyboard seems to NOT be working. New batteries installed, but doesn't seem to have helped. I can't move around in the BIOS menu because keyboard is not available. Onscreen keyboard doesn't come up either.

Has anyone else run into this? What do you think is the problem? More importantly, can anyone give me suggestions to fix this!?!

Thanks!

Vostro 3560 working Wireless drivers impossible to find

Has anyone had experience finding a working driver for a Vostro 3560 laptop?

I've spent close to 8 hours trying to find one, including wiping the laptop and installing drivers in proper order, using the update client through dell, etc.

Every single one gives an error that the installation has failed or the driver is incompatible. This makes no sense because I'm using the drivers dell has recommended both through their update manager and via service tag search.
