I had the same problem on two laptops. I bought them for Christmas for the kids identical Inspiron 5558 laptops in 1 mm the the screen backing near the hinge was bulging. Dell service wouldn't do a thing as I didn't buy the extended warranty, what <profane> this was. Then a month later the screen cracked. 6 months later the exact same issue with my sons 5558. We caught it before the screen was damaged but the exact same problem where the screws that hold the hinges on strip out the plastic. I will never ever buy another dell product as their quality and customer service <profane>. Terrible made the plastic

Windows 10 boot into UEFI firmware settings missing
I have Dell Inspiron 15R 5537,. i installed Windows 8 and yesterday updated it inot window 10. Now my UEFI Firmware Settings" option is missing from the Windows advanced startup options.
Is there a method or driver that allows for enabling the UEFI Firmware Settings menu entry?
I'm even willing to reinstall the fresh Window agin, though I also can't seem to boot from CD/DVD at this point.

Dell Latitude E6530 Windows 10 Fan speed profiles
Hi,
I recently upgraded my Latitude E6530 to Windows 10 successfully. asisde from finding a SD card reader not working (PCI bridge device was disabled in Dev manger) everything is working great.
I am hover missing one feature i had while running Windows 7.
Under
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options
Change Plan settings
Change advanced power settings
I used to have an option for Dell enhanced ..something
This would give me the option of several fan speed profiles
eg Ultra cooling, silent , normal
I have all the latest drivers installed fo rmy service tag FP8JSY1
Inc Dell commnd
Management_Application_P52W9_WN32_2.2.0_A00.EXE
Ive also tried Dell Power Manager Application

I may have access to these profiles in bios but a switch them around regular depending on my current so I wish to continue to be able to change from inside the OS.

XPS 15 w/ TB15 - 4 Monitor Setup + Built in Display
I'm trying to get the smoothest experience possible from my setup.
- XPS 15 9550
- TB15 Dock Thunderbolt 3
- 2 4k Monitors via DisplayPort
- 2 USB 3.0 to DisplayPort adapters (Plugable brand)
My two 1080p monitors are unfortunately connected through USB 3.0 to DisplayPort adapters. Things are significantly slower and delayed on those monitors. I tried connecting a Thunderbolt 3 to Dual DisplayPort adapter but I couldn't get all the monitors to work at once. Is there another adapter or setup that I could use to get better performance? What if I got a WD15 and connected it to the TB15?

DELL Latitude E6540 Reset Asset Tag HOW??
Hi,
I filled in a asset tag on a laptop (Dell Latitude E6540) in the bios and saved it, so my MDT deployment can read this information out by %AssetTag% so i don't have to fill in any computername.
Now the problem is i can't change the asset tag anymore to something else.
I already searched on the internet and there are different tools available, but i am looking for a tool that can reset or change the asset tag without booting into an operating system and that is working with this laptop model.
The best method is by a bootable cd / iso so i can change this information.
Is this possible or do you guys have any other recommendation?

continual charging and speed issues with my Dell laptop
I've had this laptop (Inspiron 5558 running Windows 10) for about 8 months and I continue to have an issue that, when pluggged in, the battery does NOT charge and the computer runs very slowly.
I get this bios errors and when I then run a diagnostics test I get this error "There was an issue with the application which detects what Dell system you are using."
Any help would be appreciated as this is maddening

Dell Inspiron 5537 4 beeps
My laptop does not start up, showing up a black screen with 4 beeps, and as this means a memory issue I tries a few steps
- Tries removing both the Rams ( 2 x 4GB) Then 2 beeps turn up. This generally does mean Motherboard is good.
- Tried interchanging the rams, this time I don't hear any beeps, but still the same issue blank screen.
- Tried with one ram at a time (both slots and both rams) vice versa. Same 4 beeps.
- Tried with a new single 8gb ram(both slots) , still in vain (4 beeps)
Please suggest me, what should be done and what is the problem with. Much needed help.

Dell Latitude e7450 backlight bleeding
Hi everyone!
I'm a happy owner of Dell Latitude e7450, i7, 256 gb, with discrete Nvidia card (Moscow, Russia).
Everything's great, I absolutely love the machine, but I did some hardware replacements after purchasing the laptop (3Y NBD warranty), including the display, because there were two spots with very noticeable BL bleeding effect:

However, the replacement display turned out to be much worse in terms that BL bleeding affects almost half of the screen, which is very noticeable when watching films or playing games:

I requested a second replacement, however, this time it was denied:
"Analysis of Field captures as well as service stock captures confirmed the light leakage is within Dell LCD design specifications, there is no defect with the LCD panel or assembly. Furthermore a certain light leakage is a normal phenomenon on FHD panels and due production and mechanical interference with the LCD bezel."
I asked tech support member why then they replaced it the first time as the display was much better, and he stated it was some kind of 'exception' (at that time they also replaced motherboard and cooling system as well because of the high-pitched noise problem) which is strange - either you have tech standards or you don't.
I'm very disappointed (as there's cleary too much bl bleeding) and I still want a display replacement. What can be done to achieve this? I suppose arguing with the tech support isn't the best solution. Thanks.

after Windows 10 anniversary update, Inspiron 5459 freezes if wifi is turned off or wifi access point is changed, is there a solution to this problem?
I recently updated my Inspiron 14" 5459 to the Windows 10 anniversary update, i noticed that when my wifi access point changes or wifi signal drops or turning off wifi, my laptop semi-freezes, you could still scroll with the mouse or track pad and select open tabs but that's all, clicking other icons and even the windows start menu does not work, if you wait for more than 5 minutes, everything goes back to normal. Waiting around for about 5 minutes is annoying so what I do is press ctrl alt delete and from there restart the laptop. my wifi adapter is updated to the most recent version and also both graphics card (intel hd 520 and amd radeon m335) is also updated to the latest version. Any suggestion on how to resolve this issue?

XPS 15 9550 Subtle Screen Flicker and WiFi Issues
I've had my XPS 15 9550 for about a month and ever since I've bought it I have been having issues. The major problem I had to start off with has been with the wifi. I have issues every once in awhile with the wifi disconnecting and timing out, and it's more of a problem at certain times than others. That's problem number one. Here's problem number two... the best way I can describe the issues with the screen is a subtle change in the screen brightness where it seems like it's flickering. It's subtle, but is very obvious when it does this. From my research and work on this issue, I BELIEVE it's a driver issue, and not hardware related. However, I won't hold my breath on that. I have tried every troubleshooting method in the book. I've tried everything from updating drivers, downgrading drivers, factory resetting the computer, reading hours worth of forums and no little tweak here or there has worked for me.
If these issues cannot be worked out, I hope Dell can refund me because spending $2,500 on something that I've had relentless issues with is not acceptable.

Free, temporary fix
So, like everyone else here, I've had this problem with my right hinge on my dell 5547. Happened after about 15 months. Definitely outside the warranty time frame, but I called Dell to see what they would charge. $160 to send it to them (would take 3 weeks), or $240 to have someone come to me and fix it in my home.
Instead I went to a local PC repair shop. The man looked at it, turned it upside down, tightened the screw behind the hinge, and handed it back to me. It opens and closes fine now, doesn't make any sounds. He said that because it took me so long to tighten the screw, there is some permanent damage (the two pieces of light and dark grey plastic are slightly separated still, but not as bad as it was). But tightening the screw prevents it from getting worse for awhile.
This is by no means a permanent solution -- because of the poor design, it's going to loosen again. And if something cracks, I'll have to fork out the cash for new hinges and such. But for everyone else that notices their hinge making weird sounds, and maybe the plastic starting to split, try just tightening the screw. Don't over tighten it (you'll strip the screw), just keep it snug.

inspiron 15 5000 series wont TURN ON!!!!!!!
this is a new laptop, the problem is that it wont turn on with the battery ( the battery has been charged), it will just turn on if i remove the battery and plug the charger in. I have searched for solution on the internet, i did try one, i removed the battery and charger, the pressed the power button 30s and then put back the battery and charger, and it turn on. I thinked this solution would fix the problem but it didnt.

HELP! I CAN NOT ACTIVATE PRE-INSTALLED WINDOWS
I HAD TO REINSTALLED WINDOWS 7 DUE TO DRIVERS CONFLICT. HOWEVER, WINDOWS DO NOT ALLOW ME TO ACTIVATE THE KEYS THAT COME WITH THE LAPTOP SAYING THAT IT IS A PRE-INSTALLTED WINDOWS AND I NEED TO CONTACT DELL.
HOWEVER, IN DELL DOWNLOADING CENTER I CANNOT FIND ANYWAY TO DOWNLOAD A PRE-INSTALLTED WINDOWS OS.
