hi guys, all my previous laptops used to have a slow pulsating led ("breathe"?). The XPS 13 front led glows yellow when low on power, but does not breathe when suspended.
Is there a setting I can trigger to make this happen ?
Not sure if this is done through the bios.

I have a E5470 which came with a 128GB M.2 SSD fitted.
I would prefer to fit the 256GB 2.5" SDD from my old Dell laptop - but my E5470 did not come fitted with the HDD cable as shown on page 13 of the E5470 User Manual.
I spoke to Dell support and they provided me with cost and part numbers for the cable and caddy.
Parts# 80RK8 (cable) 4JMFP (caddy) costing £49GBP
I have seen what appears to be an identical cable on Ebay for the E7440 'Dell Latitude E7440 Hard Disk Drive Connector Cable' for a fraction of the above price.
They appear to be the same cable but the part number is different DC02C004K00 / CN-06520J
Does anyone know if the above cable will fit in my E5470?

Hello, I have a brand new Inspiron 15 7559 that is having some issues. First and foremost the keyboard is useless after the computer goes to sleep. This just started a few days ago, about a month after receiving it. The screen comes back on after opening the lid and the touch pad works fine. But no buttons on the keyboard produce any response. The keyboard becomes backlit like normal but does not produce anything on the screen when I try to put in my password/pin. I can click on the Ease of Access button and get the on screen keyboard to appear. This does work and allows me to input my pin. But that's no way for my laptop to run. And a laptop without a keyboard is pretty useless.
My second problem is that my computer no longer sees my Nvidia dedicated graphics card. I only mention this here because I am not sure that the 2 issues are unrelated. I noticed a few days ago that the Nvidia icon was not in my system tray ( I think that's what it's called) like it normally is. So I opened it manually and it told me that it could not find a driver for this computer. That is odd because just the previous day I had been looking in the program and all was fine. So I followed the link to get a driver. I followed all the instructions on the Nvidia site and downloaded the driver for the card my computer came with. But when installing it a window popped up saying that no hardware could be found on my computer for that driver. Not sure why it doesn't see it.
Not sure why these issues would be related but they did start at roughly the same time. Again this is a month old lap top and neither of these issues were there before a couple of days ago.

I'm a desktop workstation user who is new to laptop workstations. I'm about to order a Precision 7510, external dell 4K monitor (P2715Q), dell bluetooth keyboard and mouse (KM714) which I'm hoping will replace my desktop workstation as I'd like to have some mobility with the new workstation that the desktop one can't give me, eg. take the laptop with me when I travel.
I often power down my workstation at night to save power and to restart windows for the next morning. I plan to have the 7510 on my desk, with lid closed as much as possible.
If I power down the laptop at night will I have to open the lid and press the power on button to start up the laptop again or is there another way to do this, eg. dell dock, etc. Also, will the bluetooth keyboard and mouse be able to wake up windows from sleep mode?

I cannot get my Latitude e6430 to turn on. I press the power button. The power button lights for several seconds and then turns off right after that the battery light comes on for a second and then turns off. Then nothing.
I have tried removing battery / AC supply removing all drives. Discharging stored energy. Resetting RAM. Still nothing. I did notice that if I install a battery that needs charging, that the battery light stays on as if charging (and probably is).
Any ideas?

I have a Dell Inspiron 15, 5000 series, that came with Windows 8.1 on it. I upgraded to Windows 10 and the ethernet connection started dropping out, giving messages that the cable is not connected, when it is. I had installed all the driver updates from Dell's site, including all the firmware and BIOS updates. According to the Dell site, the laptop has supposedly been tested to function with Windows 10.
I have disabled the card, then renabled it, but still no success. I have tried rolling back to Windows 8.1 and the ethernet connection functions just fine. I tried upgrading to Windows 10 again, but the ethernet connection does not function even after reinstalling all the drivers from Dell. Is there any way to find out if this model is just not capable of upgrading in spite of Dell's statement that it is?
So, I just got my Dell XPS 15. I also have an Acer H277HU Monitor with USB type c input.
When I connect both directly with the Acer supplied usb cable, it will transfer data but will not charge the laptop nor will it show the display.
HDMI works fine.
Does the XPS 15 (Windows 10) support charging and display direct to the monitor as it can with Mac's without a hub or adapter?
Is there a windows setting or driver I'm missing or is this strictly a Mac feature?
I've tried fiddling around with the intel and NVIDIA settings as I was sure I just to enable it somehow but coming up empty.
Would be nice to have a one cable option without dropping $200 on an Adapter.

I recently started folding my Inspiron 11-3147 into tablet mode while I recline on couch or bed. Only when I got up after a couple of hours last night did it occur to me that the fan exhaust outlet had been planted smack-down into my shirt around my stomach. No harm to me, but I'm guessing this is not good procedure to follow for healthy computer life. Did anyone else find this easy to overlook when they first started using the Inspiron as a tablet? The problem is that Dell has made it so sleek, quiet, and accommodating that a novice user can easily lose track of the fan's location (when folding) or that it even exists! I didn't receive any on-screen overheating warnings or shut-downs so I'm guessing everything's going to be all right.
SOLUTION: Fold to tablet and make sure hinges and Start button are on top when resting laptop on recumbent body. The screen view, of course, will automatically rotate.
I wonder though... if maybe there ought to be some indicator/sensor that warns users when they're obstructing the fan? ... before it may be too late.
My N5010 Will not power on with or without the battery installed. The power button blinks white every four seconds. The AC adapter is working fine. I have removed the battery, unplugged the AC adapter, and held down the power on switch for 30 seconds without success. I have removed and reinstalled components such as HDD, memory, etc. without success. I have installed a new DC Jack Board WXHDY and it still will not power on.
Can anyone suggest anything else to try?
I just tried to run the free Windows 10 upgrade and got the message that the display is not compatible with Windows 10. This is the touchscreen display. Is there any fix for this?
Dell n5010 laptop ,have brand new battery but not charging.Ran the Dell diagnostics and no problems found.I have updated bios which was A09 now changed to A15. I have uninstalled battery in device mgr and powered back up and no change. I have had new dc jack installed and also bought a second charger.Still not charging.Out of ideas.

I bought my Dell Inspiron 5548 in November 2015. My right hinge is making strange noises and finally it broke off. I want to know how could I get this fixed. I haven't misused it or dropped it at any point of time. since it is not even one complete year, im assuming my laptop is covered under the warranty. probably this is not the first complain Dell is receiving in this model since I saw previous posts complaining of the same problem.
Here I'm attaching the photo of the broken hinge as well as the bill that was given to me when i purchased my laptop.

Does anybody know where to get a replacement digitizer and glass for XPS 12 9250 4K? I don't know what happened to mine but it broke while I was using it. The screen stopped responding and I when I rebooted it I noticed a crack in the upper corner that continued to crack down to the lower opposite corner. I am looking for a replacement digitizer and glass and I am hoping that they are replaceable.
Was there ever a more permanent solution developed for the E4310 with i5 Processor other than flip it over and cook your bacon?
Recently purchased a backlit keyboard to replace my non backlit one. It's supposed to be supported but the keyboard does not function at all.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
ON starting the laptop error comes up saying no bootable devices found. on doing the diagnostics it shows no dard drive found but all the other test were passed.
i can start it again by going to utility setup and changing boot sequence to internal hhd on legacy mode.
the windows then starts but with error; microsoft visual c++ runtime library - runtime error. so cannot *** any online diagnostic as the explorer does not start.
if i restart or shutdown the computer i have to repeat the above process again. with all the same errors coming up again.
i tried changing the hard drive to the ssd samsung evo 500gb. have the same errors coming up.
any suggestion would be of great help

I'm having a new issue with the laptop, which seems to be happening in the last few weeks.
The only change that was made of consequence was an update to BIOS A07 for a fedora dual boot. Incidentally I have tried the devices on the Fedora OS on the same laptop and they are detected no problem, also, both HDD's have been tested on another PC which works correctly and the USB ports on the XPS laptop are also functioning since smaller USB devices are being detected correctly.
Both devices are being picked up in the system tray and the drivers are showing in device manager yet they are not being picked up by the file system.
Any ideas are appreciated !
EDIT: One device is USB 2.0 another is USB 3.0, troubleshooting using windows states that USB 2.0 devices will not work correctly yet the same issue occurs with the 3.0 device.

Obligé de forcer un reboot.
Même problème avec un ultra-portable E4300.

I just bought the Precision 5510 and I'm trying to replace the original 250GB SSD PCie with a Predator Hyperx 480GB.
When I plug the new disk in, the system won't boot and stays on a black screen (no dell logo, nothing happens).
Kingston's support has replaced the disk but the symptom is the same with the new one.
What can I do ?
