Hi.

I've bought Dell Xps 15,9550 and it's amazing, but the problem is I can't plug off the battery, and I use my laptop all the time "literally" and I was a little bit disappointed because I want to keep my battery in a good condition,untli I knew about Dell Command Configure Wizard, which gives you an option to change the way your battery is charging, and there are 5 ways: Standard Charge, Express Charge, AC Use, Auto Charge, Custom Charge, but I really don't know what's the best for my condition.

Like I said I use my laptop all the time and I'm afraid that if I kept the laptop charging while using it all the time, the battery may get in a bad condition.

And sorry for my English it's not my mother tongue.

Hi friends, I'm using Dell Studio 1558 and recently bought an original battery online and I dont know the authenticity of that battery. Also before changing the battery, I had a hard disk crash and changed a new hard disk.

Now at times, I'm getting amber and white light flashing. Its getting corrected if I restart the system.

Can anyone let me know the meaning of this flashing amber and white lighting?

Does anyone know how to get the Radeon 8670m working with Windows 10?

I have a Inspiron 3537 and despite numerous driver combinations it just wont work. I've used both the dell drivers and latest AMD ones. Using Heaven Benchmark to test and it only ever shows the Intel HD as the source for GFX processing.

Please help!

I have an Inspiron 5545 running win10.

On opening, the right side hinge on the keyboard section pulled three screws and inserts free, cracked the plastic in the corner where the hinge is located, killed the WiFi, and caused an intermittent vertical line to appear on the screen.

The laptop has never been out of  the house, never dropped, and seldom left my lap when I was home.

It runs, but is held together with aa 1.5" black paper clamp and connects to the home network via a USB WiFi dongle from Wal-Mart..

This is my fourth or fifth laptop and the first to have the case fail.  This is a design failure in my opinion.  Boo on you, Dell.  I've bought a lot of your computers over the years because they worked and did not fall apart with normal use.  This one disappoints.

Hi,

I have a dell e7240 who has been working fine for 18 months.

2 days ago after an automatic bios update, the computer didn't want to boot up.

l let it sit for a day without the power cord and the battery, pressed the power key for 30s but to no help, it seems like dead.

I wonder if there is a procedure to follow to be able to recover it. I prefer not to send it to the help desk as I have very sensitive data on it .

Hi, i recently upgraded my os from win 8.1 to win 10 ...after few days i had to reset the os (win 10)....this cause removal of my all dell softwares installed on my laptop so i searched my product on dell.com but it didn't accepting it i means the service tag ...so please help me from where i can download drivers for my dell 5558 laptop

Hi

I have Dell n5010, I was not using it for 1 year and some insects were gone into it. when I powered on it LCD was jerky and half of LCD was not clear. I disassembled everything and cleaned it all. still problem was there.

Next I re-hot the AMD 1GB graphic chip. That worked well. But problem came again in a day. Again I re-hot and it works. but seems like it is not permanent solution.

Now What I want is to remove VGA chip. will laptop work with intel graphics if I remove VGA chip?

are there any way to disable it in hardware?

Hi,

Keep having problems starting my Inspiron 3521 laptop. Result: a black screen with a horizontal grey bar in the middle and the repeating sound of eight beeps. Pushing the power button over and over again, trying with the battery in and out, and then after many failed start-up procedures suddenly it turns on normally, showing the Dell logo on the monitor screen. This feels like participating in a lottery. Allready tried many suggested solutions including system recovery and upgrade BIOS. Does this sound familiar? I appreciate any help.

I just purchased a dell inspiron 15 3000 Series with AMD A8  processor(6GB RAM,ITB,Windows 10) from a dell exclusive store in Trivandrum(India,Kerala) for an amount of Rs 35,000.I am not able to find the exact Indian price for this laptop anywhere.Could you guys help me out if this was a good buy??

Hello,

I have one of the newer model Dell Inspirion laptops. How do I turn off the light that accompanies the power button and the charge light on the front. I'm able to turn off my backlit keyboard, but these two other lights are quite bright and annoying when I'm trying to play movies in a dark room.

I have an Inspiron 15R 5521 and the built in LCD display is failing. Rather than repair it, I want to remove it and run the base attached to an external HDMI monitor. However, after unplugging the LCD connector from the motherboard, the system won't boot (8 beep code) even though the external monitor is plugged in.

Is there a way around this? A bios setting perhaps? Does anyone know if it would work if I left the connector plugged in with the cable cut rather than unplugging it?

Hi,

it's been a year that I'm looking for a good laptop for Dell, but I'm not seeing what I want.

What I'm looking for is :

- 15" laptop. 17" is too big and 13" is too small.

- DVD Tray : Very important for me. If it's not available, why not get an external DVD drive as an option when you buy the laptop? For now there is only the 5000 model who has a DVD tray, but the specs are low.

- Color : I don't know why all your gaming laptop are so ugly. Red and black... I prefer the get the grey/white/black color from other models, but it's not available.

- Graphic card and display : I'm looking for a laptop with 1080p (I don't know why you are still developing 768p laptop) with a graphic card capable of running recent games in Ultra at 30fps and be able to create games with Unreal Engine and other software without any problems. For now, I can't find any of this.

So that's my suggestion for the laptop I would like to buy by the end of the year :

- 15" 5000

- Grey color

- 1080p

- Nvidia GTX 970m (or if there is a drop in price, try to get the GTX 980 notebook version (without M))

- DVD Tray or external DVD Tray as an option for DELL.

- Core i7 6th generation

- 1Tb SSD

Hello, so I purchased the TB15 docking station thinking it would support up to 3 external monitors for the XPS 13, since it has a VGA, HDMI port and Display port mini. I can get 2 external monitors to work, but I can't get 3 to work. I wanted to keep the lid closed and use a 3 external monitor setup. I already purchased the monitors and my desk mount stand for 3 monitors...

If the docking station won't work, does anyone know of any alternatives?

I too have had the exact same issue with the Dell Inspiron 5547 6 months after buying it. It was under warranty so Dell fixed it. 8 months later the exact same problem occurs but now it is out of warranty and Dell wants $160.00 to fix it. Dell can only tell me to send it in and they will fix it for the $160.00 fee. They won't listen that the issue is identical to the one experienced while the product was under warranty and imply the problem is my fault and not an inherent design problem. The answer from them is I should have extended the warranty and this can't be a design issue as they have not received complaints about it. This forum validates complaints exist. As a previous Dell customer for the last 14 years I have purchased my last Dell. They don't stand behind their products and prefer to shift the blame to the customer. I was in the market for a new laptop and guess what I'm buying an Apple. All because a company I stood behind for years won't stand up for their customers. Now for the other 3 Dell laptops in my house, those too will be replaced by a more reputable company that actually understands customer service and is willing to fix their design flaws if they occur.

I have an Inspiron 15z 5523, bought brand new back in '13. I updated it to W10 last year, and everything worked fine. When I did the update, first thing I did was to create an image of the system in a USB drive for future reinstallation / recoveries.

Yesterday I wanted to format the laptop and do a clean reinstallation of the system. I plugged the USB drive and launched the recovery app. I selected the full format option, and the PC rebooted automatically. Problem is that from that moment on, it fails starting windows. The error reads:

"File: \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors."

After that, I have tried to repeat the process, forcing the system to boot from the USB drive. It will load the recovery app and start the process, but at 2% a different error message appears (code: Error 0x40001100200001005" and the process is interrupted.

I have read that this second error message usually appears when trying to do the recovery on an OEM drive, not the original one. However, this is not the case, I haven't changed anything in my PC.

I have also tried to install a W7 image I have, but when it gets to the point of selecting the drive where the OS will be installed into, the list appears empty. My laptop has an SSD drive and a HDD, though. I encountered this situation when trying to install Ubuntu a while ago.

Dell 13 Insipiron 7348 touch pad problems win 10.

Hello all, I own the 7348 insipiron i7 version .using  Win 10. ( with extended Warranty)

Here is my touch pad issue.

The touch pad is very very very intermittent on BATTERY Power, and is quite unusable.

However when I connect the HP  wall charger to the 7348 the Touch Pad works perfectly!

I have read many others Insipiron 7000 owners have this issue and as I write about my problem with this  issue, I have read many other 7000 users are experiencing the same issue.

Hopefully Dell or a Techie will have a fix.

The 7000 series are very expensive and this issue needs to be FIXED.

So, I switched out the power cord, tried fn f2 f3, plugged in a different outlets and still the results are the same- giant paperweight. My trouble all started with downloading Windows 10. The computer crashed constantly, lost power out of the blue, and some other annoyances. I have uninstalled that beast from ***, but encountered issues though less frequently.

What I am getting from the previous posts is that I need a new mother board, right? That seems expensive or techie.  Is there some other means to just charge my battery that doesn't involve another computer?  I have hardly used this refurbished hunk of junk. I refuse to ever get another HP because of the problems I had with their laptops. I hope Dell isn't heading in the same direction.
