Inspiron 5459 i5 Display Flickers when receiving and sending a text message

0

The laptop is just 5 days old and I noticed that whenever I receive/send a text message or call (from my phone nearby), the screen flickers about five times. Similar to how speakers make a bleeping noise when near a phone.

I'm not worried about speakers but should I be worried about my screen?

Note: I have used many laptops before, and a lot more desktops; this is the first time that I encountered screen flicker due to my phone's radio.

Dell Vostro 3550 - Power up issues

Hello,

I have a Dell Vostro 3550 with Windows 10. To power up the laptop I need to press two times the power button. The first time I press it, it tries to boot but after a few seconds it powers dows. Then, I'll have to press the power button again, and this time it will boot up normally.

I'm wondering if this is a known issue and do you have any ideas?

Thanks,

Francisco

Hello.  I have a Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop that I am going to reload with Windows 7 Ultimate (not sure if I want to load 32-bit or 64-bit).  I would like to load the correct drivers with it and the correct order as well, especially when dealing with the wireless portion.  Can someone give me the assist ASAP in this matter, as I am trying to reload this laptop for my daughter.  Thank you all in advance!

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series Screen Flickering

Hello, I purchased this touch laptop months ago and it has barely been used or even mobile. I have had an issue with the screen flickering for quite some time, it came out of nowhere prompting me to use the laptop less.

The screen does NOT have an issue with flickering and brightness. The screen flickers EVERY time I move/touch the monitor at all. Sometimes when I move the entire laptop. Please give advice on what I should do as I don't have a ton of $$ to go anywhere to get it fixed and I bought the laptop in brand new condition from Craigslist so there is not a warranty.

Thank you for the help and please do not respond if you have the same problem, but you do not have a viable solution, that helps no one.

Precision 7510 Win 7 Reinstall

I'm having trouble installing our enterprise Win 7 on a new Precision 7510. Been doing this for years on all manner of Dell laptops.

I've followed the instrux posted elsewhere to load SATA drivers onto the USB flash, along with the USB 3 conversion from Intel. I have no trouble loading the driver at the appropriate time.

I get to the point where the Win 7 installer asks where to install Windows. I load the driver, but "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."

I can create partitions, delete them, etc. The factory partitions are deleted.

Tried various BIOS settings: Raid is ON, Secure boot is OFF, Boot List option is UEFI, basically all factory settings at this point. I've tried tweaking them, no joy.

One thing, under System Config > Drives, I have four: SATA-0, SATA-1, SATA-3, and M.2 PCIe SSD-0. Is this right?

Thanks!

-John

Hi.. I just bought an used dell e7450. I've already restored it using windows 10 menù and the system is working fine but I'm encountering some trouble with windows hello. Initially everything were working fine with the fingerprint reader but after 3-4 reboot the Windows hello option in settings -> Account -> Sign-in options disappered and the fingerprint doesn't work anymore. Can someone help me reinstall or reconfigure windows hello? I already tried to uninstall drivers and reinstall them.

Another question. How can i check if i have the right drivers and software? For example in device manager the keyboard listed is "Standard keyboard PS/2", every time i use hotkeys function no "pop-ups" are showed on the screen and how can i set keyboard backlight timeout for example?

Thanks for your help!

2nd Monitor for Dell Inspiron 17 5000 laptop.

Can I hook up a 2nd monitor to my wife's laptop (Inspiron 17 5000 laptop, Windows 10, purchased Dec, 2015) -- without buying anything extra (video, graphic cards, etc), except, of course, the 2nd monitor.

I want both screens to be active (i.e. not replace the screen on the laptop.

Just checking to see if I can do this natively, without having to make any changes to my/her laptop.  Windows 10 natively will support two screens won't it?

And how would I connect - HDMI, USB, etc..

E7440 crashes randomly in Linux

My Latitude E7440 decides when it wants to turn off. Sometimes it's nice enough to just shut off. Sometimes the screen goes haywire, sometimes the system just stops responding. I cannot drop run levels and SysRq doesnt work. Bios A15, A17 and A18 do no work. Booting Linux with any acpi options doesnt work. Debian, Ubuntu and Mint all give the same issue. I also notice this when I try to dock the laptop. On average this happened about once an hour. Sometimes it crashes 30 second after boot (sometimes 5 or 6 times in a row) and sometimes it lasts all day. Sometimes it tries to reboot and gets hung up at the Dell screen. Sometimes I dont even get that far, just the power light on the chassis.

dell inspiron 17r program keyboard functions

Hi,

I need to change one of the buttons of the keyboard on my Inspiron 17R 5721.

I need to have the "right click"button that normal laptops come with.

I use excel and other software extensively and I need to change one of the buttons. Since the most adequate change for this function would be the Alt or Ctrl buttons at the right side of the space bar (seeing from the user perspective), I would like to know with which software on procedure I can change this USELESS buttons (yes useless because doesn't even work as Alt or Ctrl, I tried them out).

Dell XPS13 Screen Issues

Hello!

I'm having problems with the monitor of my Dell XPS13 laptop. It's been behaving like this ever since I upgraded to Windows 10. I never thought much of it, as switching my laptop to sleep mode and turning it on again would usually fix it.

I'm not sure how to describe the issue I'm having with my laptop, but basically, sometimes when I try to turn on my laptop, 3/4 of the screen would be black. When this happens, I can't see much on my laptop screen. I would usually apply the method mentioned above to fix it, and it would work most of the time. If it didn't, I would force shutdown my laptop, and usually 1-2 would do the trick. (I tried not to perform force shutdowns though. It's only when the 'sleep mode' method doesn't work that I'd use it)

So today, when I turned on my laptop, the issue came back, and it's much worse than before. The same screen problem happened, but my method of fixing it just wouldn't work anymore... I tried force shutting down a few times (not much of a choice, as I can't see much on the screen) and turning my laptop back on, but the issue just wouldn't go away.

I don't really know how to go about fixing this, so I would really appreciste it if anyone here could help me resolve this issue. (I know force shutting down is bad, but I'm at my wit's end :( )

brightness control not working after hibernate

    I'm using Win7 64bit in Inspiron 3542.

After i resume windows from hibernate, brightness control is not happening using quick keys. Every time i need to go to control panel & change manually. Other quick key functions are working except the brightness control.  The brightness bar stuck like below.

Even killed quickset process & opened again, nothing useful in it. But when i reboot the system it starts working, and problem starts again when i hibernate.

Can I replace a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series power board with a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series power board?

So Dell made a really terrible decision.  They have a transparent strip in the power button for an LED light to indicate if the power is on.  A power indicator is a given in any laptop, no matter how cheap it is.  However, Dell in all of it's genius decided to not include an LED bulb on laptops up to the Inspiron 7000 Series, despite leaving a transparent slot for it.  Seriously, what happened to this brand?!?  Do children make these laptops now?

I want to fix this, as my laptop is no longer returnable and a power indicator is absolutely necessary.  So the only thing I can think of is replacing it with one from the 7000 Series somehow (with some help probably).

This is a Dell Inspiron 5559.  I also have an Inspiron 5547.  Not sure which exact 7000 model I should get the part for...

Are they compatible?

Is there an easier way? Like how Fn+H turns on the hard drive indicator?

Thanks.
