I have a touch pad on my inspiron that is intermittently unresponsive. I'm wondering if this could be due to the battery being old. It's 3.5 years old.

Overheating issue on XPS 13 when using TB15 Thunderbolt dock.

I Just bought TB15 and stated using it.
The problem, however, is that my XPS 13 becomes pretty hot when it is connected to the dock.
It becomes hot and operates fan even for normal light uses like web surfing or listening music.
Is it normal issue that all the user have or abnormal?

Additionally, when i connect intel realsense camera to TB15, all devices connected to TB15 is disabled and does not work. The laptop must be restarted to be operated normally.

Fake or genuine?
I purchased the battery in the top of the picture on eBay, sold as "Genuine original Dell battery". Of course, it won't power up my XPS 14Z laptop.
The bottom battery was the original equipment in my laptop. Is the top battery real or fake?

error code 2000-0146 dell vostro 1500
Ive been reading forums on this and I assume ill have to replace the hard drive if that's correct or not. Everything else passed except hard drive. I'm running xp and before i order a new hard drive I have a few questions. This is my dads laptop and it came with the reinstallation disc for windows and another disk called dell media direct 3.5. Now the disc says install before operating system, so when or if i replace drive how do I install this first without operating system or do I have to install first? Another question do I have to reinstall dell drivers and utilities disk as well or will windows have what i need? And third question is I know xp is no longer supported anymore from microsoft but I have servicepack 2 and can get service pack 3 but once installed will it security update to when they stopped updateing? If anyone can help it would be appreciated. I hope I wasnt to confusing with the questions. I have done clean installs before on other computors, but considering xp a non supported os now just unsure.

Lattitude D410 with Win XP won't read LG USB DVD burner
Win XP won't recognize my LG GP60 Super Mult drive. My Optiplex 745 desktop recognizes it fine. What gives? The LG drive has no drivers included in the package... it's supposed to be recognized out of the box.

XPS 13 USB Type-C Power Delivery

I am looking to standardize on the new Dell XPS at my company. My question relates to the USB Type-C port and power delivery. When the XPS is in UFP mode (Power source, powering an external USB type-C device), which power delivery profiles are supported? The new USB 3.1 power delivery spec provides the following profiles and I am most interested in understanding which profiles are supported by this new laptop.
The power-delivery spec allows for a maximum voltage of 20 V (4× the previous 5-V spec) and a maximum current of 5 A (more than 3× the previous max of 1.5 A). The power-delivery spec also classifies power sources in terms of profiles:
• Profile 1 (Default Startup): 10 W (5 V @ 2 A)
• Profile 2: 18 W (5 V @ 2 A -> 12 V @ 1.5A)
• Profile 3: 36 W (5V @ 2 A -> 12 V @ 3A)
• Profile 4 (Micro B/AB limit): 60 W (5 V @ 2 A -> 20 V @ 3 A)
• Profile 5 (Standard B/AB limit): 100 W (5 V @ 2 A -> 20 V @ 5 A)

Installing Dell Drivers: installation package could not be opened
Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series 5559.
To get rid of the crapware I've done a clean install, but I want to install some drivers from the Dell web site. I've downloaded the files, but if I try to extract or install them I get an error, see image attached.
When I open the location they were extracted to, there are no files there!
I note in the install log that it has a personality error as below, not sure if this is relevant:
WARNING Personality Module lib FAILED to return Values via GetPersonalityInfo().
Image attached is error after attempt to extract or install drivers or applications.

Considering Vostro V130
I'm saying "considering" as I'm not great at taking laptops apart. I found a manual which indicates that it's not all that hard... but my other choice is getting someone to do it and charge me $40.
Has anyone installed a new battery on a Vostro 130 or something similar?

RAM Location
I want to add 4 G's of RAM to my INSPIRON 15 3000 series. I have compatible Crucial RAM.. I discovered that they no longer include an "easy access" door in the bottom of laptop. I know there is an open slot. Where is the RAM ? Is it under the keyboard? Or do I have to disassemble the bottom?

Laptop hard drive question...
I've got a Dell Latitude D530, and it's been a good laptop. It's running Windows 10.
I was just given a Dell Latitude E5500 (with an Intel Core i5 processor), but the hard drive was removed.
Can I take the hard drive out of my D530 and install it into the E5500?
Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated.

Latitude E5520 Memory Upgrade Not Fully Utilized
I just upgraded from 2 gig to 8gig. Running Windows 7 Pro. When I right click on computer to look at the basic info, it is saying 8 gigs is installed but only 3.16 gig is usable. I went into the Bios and is recognizes both Dimms but says something about system resources is using memory so the available memory is less than installed memory. I have never seen this before. Any ideas?

What was Dell Thinking?
So much for QA/QC.
Can't get a second monitor to work from the mini-DP.
Constant random disconnects. Can go quite awhile sometimes until I have to reboot or reconnect the USB-C.
Spent way too much time with Dell Support these days.
It's such a shame that the XPS would suffer a setback with *** accessories like the TB15.

no service tag broken screen
Hi! So my laptop is about 8 years old and has no service tag. It is a dell latitiude e5530 and the screen case has broken, the lcd is good but the housing for it is broken and so is the frame for it. I'm trying to get a new front and back panel to house the lcd but I can't get an answer anywhere as to how without a service tag. I tried ordering a case from amazon/ebay but even though the model number is the same it didn't fit the camera board in the frame correctly. Any idea how I can order the front and back housing or how I can get one from Dell?

Inspiron 17R - New SSD and new OS installed, now what drivers do I need?
Hi guys,
I recently installed a new SSD into my Dell Inspiron 17R since my old HDD completely crashed on me. So I installed the new SSD and had to install a new OS, so I called up Dell and purchased and had them mail me a flash drive with the Windows7 Home 64-bit OS. I installed it and am now on a working laptop again...I definitely need to install some drivers as my laptop is nowhere near what it used to be. Things work...like the mouse, monitor, sound, wireless internet, etc., but nothing is quite like how it used to be (the monitor resolution is completely off and unable to be changed, the mouse pad doesn't fully work - I can't scroll up and down on the web page by sliding up and down on the mousepad, etc.)
1. I have the original drivers installation disc, but never installed it after installing the OS flash drive, so technically shouldn't none of the stuff that I have working right now be working?
2. I downloaded the Dell System Detect Launcher from the Dell website to figure out what drivers I need or need to update, and of course, after doing the System Analysis from the Drivers and Downloads section of the website, I get the message, "System Analysis not available - Please try again later. You can also find drivers by Service Tag or see a list of drivers available for your product."
3. In the Drivers and Downloads section, there are a total of 44 downloads for me...I don't actually need all 44 though, right? How do I know which I actually NEED and are the most up-to-date and in what order do I need to install these drivers?
For example, two of the "Recommended" drivers are the "Dell Digital TV Receiver ATSC-01" and the "Sonic Solutions Roxio Burn Application"....these are recommended, but I'm pretty sure I don't need a Digital TV Receiver driver, whatever that is, and I don't even know what Roxio is and I'm pretty sure I don't have it on my laptop, so these two are "recommended" but aren't NEEDED.

XPS-15 9530 is powering off when I put it to sleep
This has started recently. I have changed "nothing" except Windows 10 updates. All Dell software, BIOS and drivers are the latest (verified with Dell support tools and website).
When I select Sleep in the start menu (or press the power button) it should put the system to sleep. That is what the Power settings in the Control Panel is set to.
However, the system shuts down instead. The screen turns off, as do the fans and the power button and other keyboard lights. On pressing the power button, the system boots up instead of waking up and my open apps are not there.
Has any one else seen this recently? I suspect that something in Windows 10 updates or dell driver updates has munged things up.
The BIOS has no apparent Power settings, and I have restored defaults in the BIOS. To no avail.
Any ideas how to get back the Sleep functionality?

Inspiron 7353 (13 7000 Special Edition) Slow to wake from sleep
Hi all - quick question. I have a Inspiron 13 7000 special edition. So far, I love it. The only nit that I have with it is that frequently, when waking up from sleep - even if I just have the lid closed for 5 minutes - it takes about 30 seconds to 1 minute to wake from sleep.
It's pretty annoying and if anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.
