Dell XPS 13 not switching on

Hello,

My dell XPS 13 which is not even 6 months old is not switching on. The issue first started after a hard reset using the power button and then i closed the lid. When i tried to start the laptop the next day the power button just  lits for a few seconds and then it turns off. The battery leds shows full charge. There is no display at all. Pressing the D key while starting up or pressing F12 did not work.

When the charger is plugged in the charging light gets on for a second and then sitches off probably due to full  battery already.

No keyboard backlights as well

Please let me know how to resolve this as a lot of important data are in the system


7440 and USB 3.0 Problem

Hello,

I have 7440 with some strange usb 3.0 issues, under Win 10.

1st issue, when I connect flash memory or external hard to either port, it keeps connect and disconnect all the time, almost impossible to use it.

2nd issue, when I connect my phone - it do the same connect and disconnect thing. And if it stabilize, it isn't charging my phone.

I got issues with this laptop and got mainboard replaced, should I send it to RMA again ?

Alienware 13 R2 RAID to AHCI

I have upgraded my hard drive to SSD recently, however to get the best out of it AHCI needs to be enabled. ATM I have RAID installed and I have been trying to change to AHCI but I get the blue screen error once I boot the laptop with AHCI. I have edited the registry where you override this issue, yet no success. Can anyone help me?

Dell i5 3443 battery life shorter and not charging up to 100%

i buyed dell i5 3443 just 3 days ago and it has just 2 hours battery life and doesn't charge up to 100% it charges only upto 97% .

it has a problem that when the battery life becomes 61%  it goes down to 7% in a second and shutdown the laptop........................... i have warranty but i am in mountain area in nepal please help me with it...

It is about two years old and resently the DVD drive starts opening itselfs every minute. does anyone has a solution for it?

Dell Laptop N5010 Shuts Down

My Dell N5010 laptop keeping shutting down after several minutes.  I've replaced the battery, and then  installed a new solid state drive thinking the hard drive was the problem. I started running diagnostics after installing the new hard drive, but the system shut down again after a few minutes of running.  Not sure what else to check, plus I'm unable to record any codes.

Hi, 

I have an Inspiron 3542 which was working perfectly, until a Dell center pop-up instructing me to update BIOS as it was available. I did so and since restarting, the screen is blank after signing in; only the mouse pointer on a black screen. I reboot in safe mode and tried changing boot priority to HDD instead of diskette drive, yet not change. SATA is set to AHCI, no other choice available. 

How do I fix this issue? During the update, the fan was very loud and was fine after the restart but got the blank screen.

Please advise.

Inspiron 15" 7559 running Windows 7 prevented from booting because of Windows Update KB3133977

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to let everybody know about a serious issue I encountered with several Dell Inspiron 15" 7559 laptops running Windows 7. I suspect this problem also applies to all Dell Inspiron 15" 7000 series laptops that are running Windows 7.

After running Windows Update early last week (around April 19, 2016), several of our Inspiron 7559 laptops would no longer boot. They wouldn't even boot into Safe Mode, and traditional recovery methods like System Restore and Startup Repair also failed completely. The only solution seemed to be to reinstall Windows.

Before I reinstalled Windows, I was able to extract the logs off of two machines using some recovery software. Pouring through the logs, I narrowed the problem down to about ten potential updates that could have caused this issue. After reinstalling Windows on one of the machines, I went through and installed each update one at a time and rebooted several times to see if the machine would continue working. The system finally failed when I encountered this update: Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3133977)

So, please, unless you want your system to be rendered nonfunctional, please HIDE update KB3133977 and if you are in a corporate environment, have your IT people disable it completely from your Inspiron 15" 7000 series laptops until Dell and/or Microsoft can resolve this issue.

This issue involves BitLocker and FIPS--if you don't have FIPS enabled or don't know what it is/what it's for, this update probably doesn't even apply to you. KB3133977 is for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, so these are probably the only two operating systems affected (although I don't know why you'd run a server OS on a laptop).

This issue has taken up nearly a week of my time and I'm so glad to finally have figured out the problem. I hope this write-up helps somebody else who may be encountering this issue!

Can't boot from USB recovery drive on Inspiron 15R

I've successfully created a USB flash recovery drive using Backup and Recovery. But I can't boot from it. I get a Windows screen that starts with "Windows failed to start" and the reason is that "a necessary device isn't connected". The BIOS correctly identifies the USB drive but I get this problem every time, both in UEFI and legacy mode. I have no problems with the USB ports when Windows is running.

I'm running Windows 8.1 on a machine that was originally Windows 8. I can't see why this should be a problem at boot level. It may be significant that I can't make a recovery disc using Windows; it gets as far as "copying utilities" then freezes for a while before announcing a problem.

The Windows installation DVD does boot OK but this only offers complete reinstallation, not factory restore.

Has anyone else had this problem, and maybe solved it? What am I doing wrong, if anything? I'm fairly sure I made a recovery disc that worked a while ago, but I can't swear to it!

Inspiron 1525 Doesn't Boot Up

Inspiron 1525

The laptop was slow to boot up but within 10-15 minutes it would boot up.  I took it to a repair place. They turned it on and let it sit on the bench for days. When I got it back, it didn't boot up at all. They said probably the motherboard.

I had it turned off and charging for a couple weeks now. I turned it on and got the Start Normally screen and pushed enter. Then got the Microsoft words on the bottom with sequential lines. After that the screen goes black.  But, it does show the screen saver.  Any hope for the old Dell.

I'm trying to get the Microsoft Office 2007 produce code from the machine so that I can install that on this new one.  Is it possible to hook the two together? 

XPS 9550 Video Drivers

When running Eclipse, the ICONS displayed in Eclipse are WAY TOO SMALL.

I worked with Dell Tech this morning to update the BIOS and Drivers and the problem still exists.

I have tried both the HD res (recommended default) and dropping down to 1920x1080.  Neither works correctly.  Everything else seems to scale correctly (for the most part), but there is something with Eclipse that the toolbar icons are just small and not being scaled appropriately for the resolution.

Any recommended fixes?

Pressure Sensitive Stylus?

Hello! 

I have a Dell Inspiron 3532 with touch screen capabilities and I am wondering if there is a pressure sensitive stylus that will work with it. I don't want to use a captive stylus because those dont have the same capabilities for making digital artwork.

XPS 15 9550 - BSOD freezes daily and randomly

Hi,

Ever since i got my laptop ive been plagued by blue screen freezes often and seemingly randomly. doesn't matter what i am doing. Several times a day it happens. I used to get kernel inpage errors and ive been trying to update all drivers and a few solutions i found online. Finally reduced it to pretty much daily freezes and mostly the correlating event is 

CRITICAL PROCESS DIED

Kernel-PnP event id 219
The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device ACPI\INT3400\2&daba3ff&1. -> what is this exactly? and why?

My searches so far show the driver for that error is a Intel Collaborative Processor Performance Control Driver. There is no 9550 windows 10 driver available for it. Any suggestions?

Can anyone please help? is this a hardware issue?

i updated to new BIOS 01.02, have the latest Dell drivers for everything.


goes into screen saver in 10 - 15 secs

The laptop will go into screen saver if no activity for about 10 - 15 seconds, after which the password has to be entered.  I have set no shut down ,but it still goes into screen saver

electric shock from dell xps 17

after experience an electric shock for a long time, i have had some time and decided to look for it online, surprisingly i noticed that it is a common problem many people have...

the problem is now even more concerning after my 2 sons (1 and 3 years old) starting to use the computer. 

you probably know this problem (i saw you answering to people and this is why i am contacting you...)

hI,i've got the new xps 15 for 15 days. From yesterday evening the battery's recharge is stopped to 94%. I've used the notebook only few hours per days  in these 2 weeks.  What can i do to solve this problem?

Dell 14" 5447 dead

Hi,

I have purchaced Dell 14" 5447 in Jan 2015. Within 2-3 months there was some issue with headphone jack. I complained it to dell and they sent a technician. He didnt rectified the problem and replaced my new motherbord with a refurbished one. I was unhappy about it as it was new laptop and under warranty and I expect it to be replaced with a new one.

Again after 6 months i.e. Oct 2015 suddenly my laptop was dead(sometimes it starts up). I again called Dell support, they sent a technician and again he replaced the motherboard and it worked fine.

Now, yesterday suddenly my laptop is dead(but starts once in hundred attempt). Since its not under any warranty Dell support is forwarding my calls to off warranty support. I am very dissapointed with the service as I was given faulty motherboard repeatedly.  Can I get a replacement of my motherboard?

Could it be a faulty CMOS battery which is causing the issue since it starts sometime? Any help?
