I have a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop that today I went to go on and it had a blank black screen.  Powered down and then back up and started getting a Startup Repair window.  Let it go through its repair process and said it "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically".  It showed a Root Cause found of "Boot Manager failed to find OS loader"   Result: Failed. Error code=0x3.  How can I go about correcting this problem? Thank you.

hi Dell Forum,

Please help.

I was having a blue screen error. I could not get it resolved, and read the forum and went ahead with a recommended solution of performing a factory reset to fix it.

The problem could not be resolved.

Today, I tried to run Dell diagnostics on the machine.

I am getting the following error::

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Msg: Hard Drive 0 –

The given code and message can be used by Dell Technical Support to help diagnose the

Battery not detected?

My laptop shows a red x over the battery on my taskbar and says there is no battery detected. When I unplug it, it immediately shuts down. The device manager, however, says that the battery is performing properly, even the the online diagnostic can't even detect the battery.

Dell Inspiron 1545 network controller driver needed!!!

I did a re-install of Windows Vista 64-bit.  I followed the age old rule of installing drivers in the correct order, one by one they all installed correctly.  I was able to get the LAN to work...so i was able to install all windows updates and all that fun stuff.

BUT, i went back to ensure i had all my drivers installed...and low and behold, my network controller is still missing.  I have tried everything i can, dug everywhere, installed EVERY network driver Dell had listed for my model. I went through the effort of opening my laptop up and the wireless card is a Broadcom BCM94312HMG.  I even went and looked all possible drivers up for that wireless card and none of them work.

Can someone lend me a hand to find a correct driver for this thing?!?!

Blue Screen Error: STOP 0x000000F4

Two days ago, Windows automatically restarted my laptop (Dell Inspiron n5110, Windows 7) and installed Windows Updates. After that was done, I saw that there was a new version of iTunes, so I decided to download it. During the installation, the download froze, so I restarted my laptop.

While my laptop was powering back up, I got this error:
***STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800D334B30, 0xFFFFFA800D334E10, 0xFFFFF800037D40D0)
.
This error appears right before the log in screen shows up, so I can't get into my laptop. I've also tried starting my laptop in all versions of Safe Mode, and it won't work. I tried doing the Startup Repair, and that doesn't work. Finally, System Restore isn't going through, either. The BSOD keeps appearing and won't let me access anything.
I did some quick research online, and learned that this is a hardware issue. A few people suggested that it could be related to memory, so I removed one of my memory sticks, tried to start my laptop, and the same exact issues occurred. I put the memory stick back in, and again, same issues.
Obviously, I can't say for sure, but I have a feeling that this issue may be because of overheating. About a month or so before this happened, my laptop was getting really hot, and it would randomly shut off. Unfortunately, I didn't take this issue as seriously as I should have, and well, here I am now. I want to avoid doing anything that may cause me to lose information, so, could replacing the fans (or something else that's related to fixing overheating issues) be my solution? What other options do I have (I should note that I don't have the CD that came with my laptop)? Thanks.

XPS17 Touchpad settings in Windows 7? PLEASE HELP!

My touchpad is getting extremely annoying with how sensitive it is. I swear I don't have my hands anywhere near the pad, and it thinks I click or swipe, or whatever...it's annoying. I can't type anything without having to go back and delete, retype, etc.

WHERE ARE THE SETTINGS? Don't send me to the mouse settings in the control panel, the Touchpad setting tab doesn't exist on this machine. So how do I change it? Better yet...can I disable all the click, and gestures, and only use it to move the pointer? That would be the best solution.

Thanks in advance!

Hi All I am in need of assistance.

I have a new Dell 17r inspiron laptop that only has hdmi output.

I have projectors that connect with VGA port only.

I purchased hdmi to vga adapters and when I connect to the laptop the image will jump from the laptop to the projector and jump back to the laptop and it will continue to do this over and over.

There are no error messages. on either. These are working projectors. These are new hdmi/vga adapters.

I have tried to change resolution to lower settings and I have tried to lower refresh rates. The projector can support all of what resolutions the laptop has for settings thus the image does show for a second on the projector. These are smartboard/projector 600 series. I have also tried swapping our the adapters that didn't work either. I have also tried making the resolution settings shutting down laptop , connect the hdmi/vga adapter and turn the laptop back on and the issue is still the same. I can't find any posts/forums on this issue to date.

Thanks,

It wont turn on!! ..no lights ,no response at all..whether charger plugged or unplugged!

after browsing through ,I came to know about a trick : "Try unplugging the battery and AC adapter, then press and hold the power button to drain out all the extra power.

Then, plug just the AC adapter in and turn the computer on while holding down the <Fn> key"

Laptop and wifi connection issues. Please help?

I have a Dell INSPIRON N7110 laptop computer and I've recently been having quite a bit of wifi troubles. I was using my computer all yesterday morning/afternoon and it was working find but randomly at around 10 PM it started disconnecting from the wifi. It seems like it is always searching and it will connect but say there is no internet access. I've tried turning my router off/on and restarting my laptop. All other devices are working fine and when I'm sitting RIGHT next to my router it works but the second I go downstairs (where I've always used it before) it loses connection. When I do a troubleshoot it says that there is a problem with my adapter or access point but then says it is fixed. However, it still has been doing the same thing even after saying fixed. I'm clueless with computers so I have absolutely no idea what this stuff means or how to fix it. I've tried a couple different methods that I've found on google but none of them have worked correctly.

Help would be much appreciated! We haven't even had this computer for very long and it's very frustrating that there are already problems.

Inspiron 15R (5537) won't wake from sleep when lid is closed via usb keyboard/mouse

I have an Inspiron 15R (5537) that has all the latest drivers with Dell BIOS A01 (Windows 8). I have the options for closing the lid set at "Do Nothing" for both battery and plugged in, however no matter what I try, when the lid is closed I can't get the laptop to wake via USB keyboard or mouse.
Both the keyboard and mouse have the wake option enabled in their hardware settings.  I also have wake from USB enabled in the BIOS.
The interesting thing is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can make it wake it from the keyboard or mouse.  But with the lid closed, the only way to wake it up is to open the lid and press the power button.
Anyone know of a fix to this?
Summary:
Lid Open : CAN wake from USB Keyboard/Mouse.
Lid Closed : Won't wake unless I open lid and press power button.

Powering up issue

I have a new Inspiron 15R touch and when I log off and shut down I can't turn the lap top back on later on with the power button. I shut it down and left the lid open and power supply in.

The only way I can get it to restart is closing the lid and disconnecting the power supply and then opening the lid and push the power button.

New laptop. Cannot "see" internet through router. Office 2013 activation

$

I just received my new computer today and now I am scared to death to call them for help.  First, the girl that took my order added in items I did not ask for, like Lojack.  I do not take my computer outside the home so have no need for it.  Second, they sent me an activation number for my Microsoft Office 2013 and when putting in the number it stated it was an incorrect number.  I could not connect to my router for internet service so can't go on line with the new computer to get help, am using my other laptop to get on here.  I can't even start setting up my new Dell because I can't connect with my router.  I went on line and ordered a new router so I could start from scratch.  Trying to connect the Dell to my existing router is ridiculous.  I am very very unhappy.  I am not tech savvy regarding setting up this stuff.  It is asking for my router password and I don't recall ever setting one up and now can't find the installation disc for it so it's a lost cause.  What I am very angry about is the fact that they sent me an activation card for Microsoft Office (WHICH I PAID FOR!) and it is an incorrect activation card so now I have to figure out what to do.  My only choice is to return this brand new Dell which I was very excited to get and waited 4 weeks for.  I get the new router by Friday with express shipping so will attempt to set up a whole new connection and hope it does not interfere with my new roku streaming device or the laptop I am now using.  I am scared to death to call them for help due to the complaints I am reading on this forum.  I have a sour taste in my mouth already over my experience with Dell.  Very unhappy customer already on day ONE of receiving my computer.!Super Angry

I am absolutely terrified after reading all the complaints on customer service.  I am a first time Dell buyer and received my laptop today.  Now can someone please explain to me how you can put in the wrong activation card for Microsoft office?  Also, I had to order a new router because the new laptop would not connect to my current router.  As you can see because I am on the internet I am using my other laptop and my current router with no problems.  What do they mean I have to put in a password for the router?  I never had a password for it.  Now I can't find the CD for the router so I can attempt to connect by putting in the CD.  But who pray tell gets it wrong by sending me the WRONG ACTIVATION CARD for my Microsoft Office which I paid for!  If this is the way they do things, this laptop is going back.  Also, the girl that took the order for my new Dell decided to add in things I didn't even ask for!  I did not select Lojack and another Lojack package as I am homebound and the laptop would never leave the house!  I have insurance that covers theft from my home, yet she chose to add in extras I did not ask for.  Now I waited for 4 weeks for this Dell which was how long it took to upgrade the ram and add Microsoft Office to the Dell I selected.  I was nervous getting her help with the order because she spoke broken English.  I would have preferred to select/build my system on the website where added items to raise the price would not have happened.  She did this to increase the price and this is one angry customer.  Now I have to pay $150.00 to get a tech to come to my home so they can set up my Dell and connect it to the internet.  I am really really ticked off because I am disabled, this is a big investment for me as I live on disability and I saved up for this so I could get a better laptop than I have.  Shame on Dell for sending me a system I can't even set up at this time!  Shame on Dell for making first time buyers deal with people who can't even speak proper English to place an order.  When I was selecting what I wanted on the website, I had a question regarding upgrading the ram on the laptop I wanted so I made the HUGE mistake of calling to get the questioned answered and the rep I got took over and insisted on placing my order for me and that is how I am now in this position.  I could have selected a computer from Best Buy, paid for tech support and had the thing delivered and set up and I would not be dealing with this stress now.  This new laptop is a big investment for me.  I wanted a better laptop so I could stream movies and what do I get?  A laptop I can't even get on the internet with, and a laptop with extras I did not want that I have to pay for.  They are actually forcing me to pay for this stuff IF I decide to keep the laptop and pay extra for in-home set-up.  I am upset and can't stop crying because getting this laptop was a big deal for me.  Dell does not care for people, they only care about selling you the laptop and then you are left to swing in the wind.  Shame Shame Shame on you Dell!

Security Certificate_Error Message

I have a Dell Laptop Inspiron 1520 running Windows XP with Service Pack 3

On most websites like e-bay, paypal, banks, and others I get two different error messages relating to security certificates.

(1) There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

(2) To help protect your security, IE has blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate errors.

I have gone to IE>tools>Internet Options>Advanced and taken the check mark out of those statements related  to security certificates.

Also have gone into the Security tab and set all sites to default..

Neither option has fixed the problem...

Any help appreciated..

inspiron N7110 will not boot up (blue screen)

$

I have a Dell Inspiron 7110N running Windows 7 that I am working on for a friend. The laptop has been without anti-virus for almost two years. I ran multiple scans and cleaned up multiple viruses. After running Windows updates I now get a generic blue screen 0x0000007B and the laptop will no longer boot up.

I am unable to enter safe mode or even use the safemode command prompt.
Windows repair is unable to find anything. The only result is "Failure while setup is in process".
I just restored to the factory image but still get the same blue screen and boot failure.

There is a sata drive in the unit. I played with the BIOS settings and changed from ahci to ata and then back again which did not help.

I also did a memory check and chkdsk and it all came up OK.
The blue screen appears very early during the boot up process.

I am unable to run sfc /scannow. The message I get is "There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete".

I attempted a master boot fix but while the first commands were successful, the last command doesn't even show a Windows installation.

bootrec.exe  /fixmbr
bootrec.exe  /fixboot
bootrec.exe  /RebuildBcd

windows installations found was: 0 ?????

I have command line access ONLY and I am running out of ideas.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Under Warranty. I have been passed around tech support for an hour. Four different techs. each one takes my Service Tag Number Verifies my phone number, then puts me on hold. Comes back on line and tells me I have the wrong department. Promises to connect me to the right department.Cycle repeats.  Seems like Dell is trying to avoid honoring 24/7 Support. All this while Dell has been calling me and emailing me to renew my warranty.  Wow, Just got disconnected by tech number 5.  Time to find a new laptop vendor!
