Latitude E6500 won't "see" printer on home network

Greetings,

I have a refurbished Latitude E6500 that "sees" my network fine and is connected to it, but won't recognize my printer on the same network. i know it is not the printer as two other devices can "see" (and use) my printer. My printer is a Cannon PMA 450 some thing er other. Anyone have any way to fix this problem?

DELL INSPIRION 13 Hard Drive Crashed

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but:

I have a Dell Inspiron 13 which was bought less than 1 year ago. I used this laptop daily for internet usage and Microsoft Office, as well as stored some pictures on it. That's all. However, the hard drive, which again is less than 1 year old, began making a loud clicking noise when I would run my computer. When I ran diagnostics (prompted by the F1 key when the laptop tried and failed to start, all the while making the clicking noise) everything was fine except for the hard drive. If anyone knows why this is happening or has had a similar issue, I'm curious if there is any way to solve this issue aside from buying a new laptop, which is the only option I see as of right now. Thank you.

Windows 10 free upgrade question.

I know 2 people who said their device upgraded to Win 10 free upgrade all by itself without them oking it. One is a Dell Inpriron 15 and the other was a Windows tablet.

Anyone have this happen?

I have a Dell laptop and upgraded to the free Win 10 but I remember having to initiate it.

So like the title says I am having problems with my m6600 laptop telling me there is no ram installed even when there is. I even have the compatible ram purchased new from dell in it with no post. I have replaced the motherboard as well and I get the same issue. Dell's useless customer service chat has wasted about 15 hrs of my time without answering a single question. I just get transferred until they tell me they can't help because of the out of service warranty yet dell's stupid site tells me I am eligible for chat after putting my service tag in. Dell has proven to be the worst customer service ever just like everyone on the internet says. Who gives a *** if my warranty is out I just need my queswtion answered so I can fix this piece of *** myself. I don't want to talk to some indian *** on the phone who can't even understand me well enough to help, " Hello this is Hamid, I am very sorry for your frustrations" Like come on dell you cheap fucks. You sell an inferior product that usually always breaks after the warranty goes out then hire non english speaking d bags to not help your loyal customers? I have been buying alienware for years and always have to fix the turds myself since dell is too incompetent to build things that dont break nor do they fix the issues when items are under warranty. That being said someone tell me why my m6600 keeps telling me I have no ram and fails to post even after using the correct voltage and speed ram from dell themselves and I've changed the mobo out and the problem still exists. According to dell if it was my gfx card or cpu causing no post then the error code would be different

Refurbished Laptop From Staples, Warranty

Hello I just bought a refurbished laptop from staples and i'm wondering, do I have a one year warranty. It says it in the page but the staples manager told me to get a 1 year warranty from them because I don't have a warranty. Take note the page says "The warranty is covered by the manufacturer for 1 year" but Staples says I don't have a warranty.

Inspiron and XPS laptops running Windows 10 cannot install Dell/Synaptics Touchpad driver

Just bought an Inspiron 5759 from Dell Canada.

 Touchpad is very squirrelly - move around and it randomly perceives a click hence starts moving or invoking stuff.  Try to click left or right button (bottom left or right of touchpad) and the cursor moves so I can click on wrong thing easily.  Looked for Touchpad settings under Control Panel Mouse.  Nothing there specific to touchpad - just generic mouse settings.  Looked in Device Manager - Mouse and Pointing Devices - see HIID compliant mouse and PS2 compatible mouse.   Driver for either is from Microsoft dated 2006.  

Ok - load newest driver from dell.com.  Claims it installs ok - wrong.  The Dev Mgr shows same Microsoft drivers.  Manually force driver to Synaptics - Dell TouchPad.  Looks like it succeeds.  Now, Dev Mgr shows two mouse devices: Dell Touchpad and PS2 Compatible mouse.  Try control panel - Mouse.  Now I see a Dell Touchpad tab but the only field - Change Dell Touchpad settings - does nothing.

Spent 6 hours trying to get help from Dell Support - worst experience with any support organisation (other than HP who managed to toast a notebook via remote control while trying to install a printer driver - never did work.)  Absolutely no improvement in situation.  Four times put on hold and line drops.  Considering strongly returning the notebook.

Went to BestBuy and looked at 8 Inspiron  and XPS computers on demo.  Not a single one has a Dell Touch pad either in Device Manager or as a Tab in Control panel Mouse.  In other words, Dell is shipping out notebook without minimal testing.  You cannot adjust touchpad settings on any of these computers.

The Dell computers all show multiple devices for the single TouchPad.  All other notebooks I tried at BestBuy (Acer, HP, ASUS) show a single vendor specific touchpad driver.  Only Dell computers are wrong.  Only Dell notebooks are incapable of changing touchpad settings.

I have a Dell Inspiron 3700 from 2010 - still love it but this new Dell purchase experience is likely to force me to go to ASUS or anybody else.

I can never get to anybody on support other than in India or Phillipines and they have no influence to escalate.  This issue is pervasive based on all the units I tried at BestBuy and Dell does not give a rat's *** about it.

I used to recommend Dell to friends and family - never again.

Can you change the graphics card in a Dell inspiron 11-3153?? If so, what kind of graphics card should I get? I've heard that you can't change the graphics card in some laptops but I've heard that in some you can change it.

XPS13 9350 will not wake from sleep

Whenever I close the lid to my laptop there is a chance it will wake up fine, and completely working, or it will not wake from sleep. It will just indicate power on the button and if I touch the keypad it will activate the backlights, but not wake up. The only way to get it working again is to hold down the power button and kill the power, but I hate doing this because it's terrible for the computer. All of my power settings are to put the computer to sleep.

We're having problem of our 2 stock unit model: INSP 3531, they have the same issues on battery charging. Can anyone Dell staff help us what to do. How to process warranty or requesting  for full replacement. Someone advice us that Dell products process via online and this is the first time we encounter this. Thank You.

Hello,

I recently purchased a Dell M6500 i7-270QM. Im wanting to upgrade the internal hardware. If you can provide me with any information from a past build or part failure, even general knowledge with these machines id appreciate it. Below I will list the parts I want to change and what I have done. This may not make sense to some but I need a project and love these big machines. I have a lot of time on my hands and enough money to buy parts slowly. I have seen prices for most of the items I want and was a little shocked after six years of service on this machine. Yes, iam researching this machine daily on WWW. to get as much information and insight as I can.

1. CPU: i7-920XM 2.0GHz 8MB, im told by Dell Tech Support this is only CPU I can upgrade to with current MB & Chipset. If you know of better combo that will fit please let me know. it was difficult getting straight answers from Dell. Im not knocking them, just more interested in new product. maybe I got wrong Dept. I would like newer and faster, but will get what circumstances demand.

2. GPU: NVidia quadro FX 5000M 2.0GB. these puppies are expensive. I have been to ebay and they are not cheap. they are not very plentiful either.

3. Wireless Bluetooth 365 Module 2.1. haven't found one yet. it seems to me that there should be a card that can handle BT and Internet (wireless) and Ethernet wired. I could be wrong. this module didn't show up in device log when read by Dell. I checked original build and current configuration.

4. Broadcom BCM57618 Wireless/Ethernet. Dell Tech Support gave me this number and said it would cover item three. problem is I cant find it anywhere, not ebay, amazon or Broadcom website. I searched their entire product line manually.

5. WUXGA RGB Screen 1920x1200. this will be one of the last items if at all. I have found it and prices are manageable. right now it is not important enough to worry about, for me.

RAM: I have purchased 32GB of Corsair Vengeance. will install this weekend with 2ea. 1TB HDD. they are not matching. I will leave the DVD/CD installed for now. if I get the rest of system upgraded I will match most likely 2ea. SSD and install a BD/DVD/CD combo. maybe a third drive 4/5 TB HDD. im not sure. Bluray can always be external.

So, if you believe you can provide me any assistance I would appreciate it. I try to skim the community daily and help those I can. which isn't a lot, but I never over steep my knowledge base. mans got to know his limitations, ha ha....

i bought a new inspiron 15 5000 series laptop , and i have installed windows 7 on it , because i have certain programs that only operate on windows 7 , the problem is that the USB ports are not functioning due to missing drivers, i tried to look for those drivers on the support page but i couldn't find any specific ones for windows 7.

can any one give me the solution or a link please !

I bought a dell laptop and it doesn't have the power cord with it, and I cant even find anything on the laptop to tell me what model it is. It wont power on and there is not a service tag or express tag sticker on it anywhere. How can I determine what model it is and what power cord I need to buy?  Thanks in advance.

M7710 - Installation Instructions 2nd and 3rd M.2 PCIe NVMe High Performance SSD

I just received my M7710 with a 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe High Performance SSD and Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.

My intent is to install two similar 1TB drives myself as the 2nd and 3rd drives (which were options when customizing the system).

I'm looking for complete instructions on how to do this. It seems the Dell online manual is either out of date or hopelessly vague, as it does not mention installation of a 2nd or 3rd drive of any kind (that I can see).

My ability to accomplish this is a make/break proposition and will determine whether I keep this machine or return it.

BIOS question. ?

After updating the from AO2-AO7 the computer will not start properly. It looks good until the screen is just blank and backlit. Is there any way I can get A02 and revert back?

I updated the firmware since the support web page said it was important. The computer came with Win 8.1 and was upgraded to Win 10. The BIOS update was done after the Win 10 install. Now it seems a can of worms has been opened.

Or is there any other options?

Too disappointed with my dell 14z ultrabook

I purchased this ultrabook year 2014 and it worked really well until one day, right after the warranty expired!!!

I brought it to the technician but the only solution they have is to change the motherboard. OK, after less than 2 years its motherboard is already bad. Is that possible? What could be wrong? My old laptop worked for almost 6 years, and this dell ultrabook is just less than 2 years. Too disappointed!!!  I spent so much money for nothing.


Screen flicker on Inspiron 15 7000 series

Hello,

I have recently experimented flickering in my screen. I purchased this laptop like a month ago.

Acording to some answers in here http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19590879?pi41097=1 , One recommendation is to turn off the Dell extended battery life. But on Windows10 I do not have that option...What i see is Dell Power Manager Lite.

It looks like on direct AC and battery fully charged I do not present the flickering. If I unplugged the AC cable and battery goes lower than 85% I start seeing the annoying flickering.

Slow Wake Up with Inspiron 7537

Greetings,


My Inspiron 7537 takes between :45 seconds to a minute to wake up from sleep. I've updated all drivers and BIOS. Is this a known issue? Any known fixes? Happened with Windows 8.1, and continues with Windows 10.

Precision 5510 hangs on shutdown and also when using browser

Brand new Dell Precision 5510 running Windows 7 x64 installed by Dell.  All drivers updated including BIOS.  Running connected to a Thunderbolt dock.

Firefox browser freezes several times a day.

When you try and shutdown, it can take over 10 minutes, flashes an error message and then reboots you to the ctrl - alt - delete screen.  When you restart Windows, it says there was a blue screen error and that it created a mini-dmp file.  I don't know how to interpret mini-dmp files.  I click on "check for a solution" and it says Windows is checking for a solution and then it just quietly closes that window and gives no solution.

Getting ready to run diagnostics.  I see where folks are talking about upgrading the Samsung NVE driver.  What is that driver controlling?  The ssd hard drive?

What recovery image to download?

When I enter my service tag, it generates 2 recovery images available for download. Whats the difference between the 2 and whats the correct one to use?
