Dell exclusive showroom sold an outdated product showing warranty of just 8 months.

I bought Inspiron 3542 laptop day before yesterday (19 December 2016) but today when I checked for warranty it says it already started on 21 December 2015 and it will end on December 20, 2016. I am very disappointed with that. I further checked for same laptop with same configuration but couldn't find it. But I found it on some e-commerce site priced Indian RS 41700. I bought from Dell exclusive showroom and asked to upgrade the RAM to 8GB, they sold me this one for Indian Rupee 47600 providing few accessories (Wireless Keyboard & Mouse, 16GB pendrive, Screen Protector). Showroom guy said Laptop price is 47600 and accessories come with it. This is the worst feeling I have after spending time and money. What should I do?

My dell Latitude e5520 is stuck in a rebooting loop

Yesterday I transferred my old dell´s hard drive to my new one (it was the same model and same everything so i thought what could go wrong... sigh) beccause long story short the screen had some problems and it was already a bit old and very used.

After the "trade" the laptop worked perfectly, i could watch movies and non of the data had been lost but after i restarted the computer it gave me error 0xc000021a and asked me to either troubleshoot and fix, contiue with windows 10 or restart. I tried troubleshooting 3 times but all 3 times it said it couldnt fix the problem. Then, i selected continue windows 10 to which it gave me a blue screen with a sad emoji face asking me to restart. I then selected to reset my computer since non of the files i had were irreplaceable. After getting to 66% it said it couldnt reset it and asked me to reboot and so i did.

After rebooting, it wouldn´t even load (what i think is) the bios. After showing me the dell loading screen it´d go black and a little white "_" would appear in the left top corner for half a second and then it´d repeat the process.

After 3 reboot loops i pressed f12 and it gave me a few options. I clicked the troubleshooting one (or something lke that) and after 5-10 minutes it said everything was working well (yes including the HDD... which made me very confused...).

In the same f12 menu i then clicked internal HDD (under legacy boot) which just caused the loop to continue as if nothing.

In the next f12 i clicked Bios setup and under system logs, the only bios related thing is bios events which only says batter low or battery critically low

After some googling, some people suggested that i should try reinstalling windows 10 or using a cd for whatever... I have non of those CD´s, i think i lost them...

Sorry for the long post but i´d be very thankful if you could help me with this.

HELP!! Brand new computer won't run on a fully charged battery!

I just bought an Inspiron 15 i5558 Signature Edition two days ago, and it won't run if I unplug the AC adapter. It's acknowledging that there is a batter, and it says it's at 100% (but when I hover over it, it says not charging). It recognizes when I take the battery out, so I know the computer can recognize the battery, but whenever I unplug the charger from the computer, it immediately shuts off! The light at the front of my computer (which has a battery symbol next to it) is constantly flashing orange.

I'm incredibly fed up and am about to return this laptop if there isn't a solution.

Intel Wireless "Disconnected from network"

Hello! I'm new to the Dell forums so i'm unfamiliar on how it works.

(also the system I am using is very old)

My Dell Latitude d620 seems to have gained a habit of randomly disconnecting from the WiFi Network. It will only let me reconnect if I repair the connection or put the laptop into standby and then wake it again. The laptop is using Windows XP.

I've ruled out a virus causing this since it has been doing this during the process of getting windows set up.

I understand my system is outdated (since the d620 was released around 2006) but this issue has been going on for a while now and it is rather annoying.

Auto-rotate feature

I have a Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series 2 in 1 laptop. Is there a way to set it to auto rotate from landscape to portrait when it's in tablet mode? I've gone through all of the graphics settings and the only thing I see that says "lock auto rotate "is in the ON position but it's grayed out so I can't change it. How can I fix this?

Successfully Installed Windows 10 on Inspiron N5050 Except for Boot up After Restart

After doing a million (feels like it) fixes from the very many articles and posts about how to fix Windows 10 update problems, I have finally got Windows 10 installed on my husband's laptop.  There is only one problem:  it won't complete a reboot after a Restart.  It will reboot after powering off and back on.  I am hoping that someone might have a fix for this.  I did read that Dell is saying this laptop is not compatible with Win 10.  My husband swears that he did not tell Microsoft to go ahead with the upgrade and we have discovered that this was true of many other users as well.

I have done the following fixes already: reinstalled an updated driver for the display adapter, uninstalled any software that generated errors in the Windows event log (like HP Support Framework), changed a number of Start up Services to be manual (like Malware Bytes, which is not the anti-virus software in use, however, I did use it to scan the computer for viruses), increased the permissions on the Windows folder, reinstalled Win 10 using CD created by Windows Media Creator, turned off the Fast Restart in Power settings,  uninstalled the IDT Audio driver, ran the sfc /scannow and the DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image Scanhealth and probably more.

So anyone have other suggestions? Thanks!

Inspiron 3521 system in recovery forgot bios password

Hi - I am at wits end because after dealing with several update/driver/virus problems in windows 8.1, my system went into total recovery mode with none of the options helping.  When I was limited to turning it on and ONLY getting a black screen with the blue password box, I had to set it aside for a bit before I lost my mind.  When I tried copying my files to a usb, I realized that all my passwords that I had saved on a document, did not copy.  Before I lost my mind, I had to set it aside for a while and figure out what to do.  Upon returning to it, I realized that I forgot that exact system password and could not retrieve it, as well as my email password with which I set up my account with (and I also changed phone numbers within this time)! Therefore, I went back to researching my latest issue with this system (that I can't believe has been the BIGGEST pain in the rear that I have ever had) and haven't found a solution.  I am usually self sufficient and have learned a lot about computers in the past year, but I just don't have any fight left in me for this.  Please let me know who I can send the information about my computer too and I pray that someone can help me get in there.  Thank you.

Hi, I recently bought a used Dell latitude E6440 with a Core I5 4300M and i would like to put a Core I7 4910MQ in it and would it work? and if it does can the system handle it? Or would i be better off putting a I7 4610m in it.

What Driver?

I recently had Windows 10 installed on my studio 1558. I had a IT service do this completely, and had them test and resolve a heating issue.

But after receiving my computer back, I have notice that the DVD ejection does not work by keyboard. I have to go to the drive, right click, and click on eject.

So, what driver number do I need to install to get this to respond by keyboard? I have a dell disk that shows 52 drivers by number only, but not sure which number I need?

Thanks for your time.

Out of patience with Dell's horrible warranty service

$

Hi,

This is a rant/plea for help from someone at Dell.  For the past 3 months I've been through the wringer with Dell's warranty service.

Short story for those who don't want to read this entire tail of woe.  I've been through 3 LCD screens, one motherboard replacement,  and now one entire system replacement - and I still have a computer with issues because Dell keeps sending me JUNK and wrong parts -  And to top it off my warranty is about to run out.

And now the long story...

My story begins almost a year ago when I purchased a new Inspiron 7548.   I loved that laptop and things were great up until Feb of this year when the LCD screen developed an issue with burn-in/image retention.

I contacted Dell tech support about this, and the tech agreed that the screen needed replacing. He said he'd send out an on-site service tech with an LCD replacement kit and a motherboard.  I thought sending the motherboard was strange since the issue was clearly with the LCD screen.  So I asked why they'd send a motherboard.  The tech said incase the replacement LCD doesn't fix it...  Strange. This should have been a red flag, but I just shrugged it off.

Jump forward a few days later and the on-site tech shows up.  He says he doesn't know how to replace the screen in this model laptop.  He said any time he's tried, the clips in the bezel break.  He also said Dell should have sent the entire LCD assembly as there are no instructions to replace the LCD screen only.  He called up Dell's on-site tech support line to see if they could supply him with instructions, and Dell instructed him TO REPLACE THE MOTHERBOARD for an issue with an LCD screen.  He didn't know what to make of it, but did what they said and replaced a PERFECTLY GOOD motherboard, which OF COURSE didn't fix anything.

So, the tech says to ask them for the entire LCD assembly.  So I contact Dell and ask them for the specific part number, which to their credit they send...  But of course there are still issues with the screen. Dead pixels, backlight bleed, and the touch screen often has a mind of its own and causes the cursor to go crazy...  Also at this point I'm noticing the laptop runs much warmer than before, there's a loud "coil whine", and the touchpad now randomly stops sometimes....  So my perfectly good motherboard was replaced with a broken one... Great

By this time, screen number 3 had arrived...  But it was the wrong part.   It was the 4k UHD screen, and I had the 1080p version.   I am a software developer and I use Linux and a lot of Java software which does not scale properly on Hi-DPI screens.... So once again I had to contact Dell and tell them I can't use a 4k screen.

After sending the wrong part, Dell said they'd replace the entire system, with a refurbished one.  Great! Finally an end to this, I hoped.  But nope.

Dell sends me an Inspiron 7559 "gaming laptop" with a 4k screen... Even after I specifically told them I am unable to use a 4k screen.  However, by this time I had well and truly had enough.  I just wanted to be done with the entire ordeal.  But as I am beginning to learn, there is apparently no end to it because guess what, the Inspiron 7559 has a few issues of its own.

1.  The screen dims flickers when certain shades of blue enter the screen (lots of 7559 owners are complaining about this, it's an inherent flaw of the LG "pentle" screen used in these: There are a few youtube videos that show this if you search)

2. I could have just changed the resolution to 1080p and lived with the flicker but...   It OVERHEATS LIKE CRAZY and the fan never shuts off.  Even when idle.   Tonight  as I was trying to use it the thermal protection kicked in and it actually turned itself off right when I was in the middle of working!

UNACCEPTABLE

I've been patient and courteous throughout all this.  But now I've had enough... I am not going through any more on site service calls with ill-equipped techs. I also no longer want to deal with Dell's "tech support" which has shown itself to be amazingly incompetent.  I don't want any more faulty "refurbished" parts that aren't checked.  I just want a laptop that works.

Is there someone higher up at Dell that can help me?

The USB 2.0 port does not detect anything plugged into it.

The other 2 USB 3.0 ports work normally.

No error messages in Device Manager, and if a bootable USB is plugged into the port, it does not show up in the BIOS.

Just after its 4th service, where the parts replaced so far are the wireless card, LCD base cover, Motherboard, and Chassis.

Running Windows 10 64 Bit

This is the 5th time an error was encountered, I need help, and thanks.

I have a Precision 3510 with Ubuntu 14.04 installed from the factory.  Is it advisable to upgrade to 16.04?  I ask because I know that the new kernel is necessary to take advantage of some of the power saving features of the Skylake CPU, but it also introduces a new AMD graphics driver that may not yet be tested with FirePro cards.
