Hey Forum,

I have a Dell Inspiron 13z 5323 Laptop that I have been using for roughly 3 years.  Recently, my computer hasn't been able to recognize my AC Adapter (65 W, I'm pretty sure), and therefore the PC has disabled charging automatically. 

I bought a new DC Jack and Battery and installed them onto my computer manually, and I updated to the latest BIOS update, but that does not seem to be the solution because my computer still says "Plugged in, not charging".

Is there anything else I can do to help this without making more purchases?  I've seen that a last resort is to obtain a new motherboard but I would really like to not do that.  Let me know if anyone has had a similar problem and was able to find a solution.

How do you turn off the touchpad on an Inspiron 15 5000 Series running Win 10? I am using an add-on mouse, and I type with with my wrists resting on the laptop (including the touchpad). You can imagine the wild movements the pointer is going through on the screen! Anyway, I need to disable the touchpad. Any help eould be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all,

I purchased Dell inspiron 7537 and I am facing an issue of wireless connectivity since I updated its build-in windows 8 to 8.1. The wifi does not connect nor Bluetooth. I have also tried to connect an external wifi device but it dint work. Even I have updated it to windows 10 and later on I have reinstalled Windows 8 and Windows 7 but still the wifi adapter is not working. 
I have installed many drivers but this issue never being solved,

I find a cross mark on my network icon right side of task bar and it says not connected to any network.

Please help me out this issue i am unable to use wifi even in this brand new machine.

So my Dell XPS 9550 has been getting these random black screen moments just when ever it feels like it, it seems. The screen will turn black but the keyboard will light up when I push on them. The power button still has its light on as well as the light on my charger if i'm still using it. If I am listening to music, the music will freeze as well and I can hear it skipping. The only way I can fix it is by turning it on and off, only for it to happen again a couple of hours later. I have already called dell technical support and haven't found any solutions. I have read about some people having to get their motherboard replaced but i'm hoping its not gonna be that serious of a problem. Any Ideas?

I've got an e6420 A23 Win7 Enterprise that will not resume properly after being hibernated by FN+F1, lid closure or time out.

When I attempt to wake it, after entering the Bitlocker password & getting the "Resuming Windows" screen, the screen drops to black, shows a cursor & freezes. It never fully recovers from this & I have to hard start the device after.

This is in AC mode. not battery since this machine sits primarily in a dock. There's nothing in our OU group policies or domain policies restricting this by direct statement or exclusion. I have set local policies on the machine that should point this machine to waking on lid open or power button.

Any thoughts or tricks that might help with this? I've got a researcher who is going a little sideways because of this.

Hey ALL,

I own an old version of Dell XPS, the m1330. I have been using it for years now, on and off. It worked perfectly fine for the most part, till only recently when it became unresponsive to all my booting attempts. The device was in sleep mode, and when I tried to turn it back on again after a while(as I usually do) it was just dead. Completely. Now, I suspect it might be the power rail and/or the motherboard. I am not sure. I would like to get some help with this. I understand the laptop is very old compared to all it's successors, but I would like to know if it would be possible to send it back to Dell to get it fixed(Only if they accept old models, of course) I would appreciate any kind of help offered. THANK YOU.

I bought my Dell in August of 2014 because my last Dell laptop had lasted 9 years.  I was expecting the same sort of quality.  I am sure I registered it but my account shows no signs of it.  How can I even have an account if I didn't register the thing?  I know I did.

     The service tag is blank. The computer turns on with a light on the front but nothing on the screen.  I am reduced to using my husband's iPad to try to find help.  HELP!!!!!

When I have the battery inside of the laptop, it shuts ff randomly, even when plugged  in. I think it is a problem with overheating, but when I remove the battery and keep the laptop plugged in it works fine. It might be a problem with my heatsink, but it might also be a battery problem. Can anyone confirm if I need a new battery or a new heatsink?

Updated everything on my 9550 after following the Dell recommended install guide. 

Remaining Issues:

1. Only way dock works is by connecting to dock after a complete shut down and restart of windows. If connected while hibernating only the monitor works. The USB and Ethernet do not. USB audio is very glitchy - sometimes it will remain connected sometimes it wont.

2. No stability. After "working" for a variable amount of time 5 min to 30 min... monitor will flicker (displayport connection) and dock will drop all USB connections and ethernet. 

3. Fan constantly running on low in the background. If on AC adapter... Fan shuts off.

4. Once connections are dropped. Laptop needs to be completely restarted before it will even consider connecting. Then if connects it will constantly drop USB/Ethernet and constantly try to reconnect. 

Update is effectively useless. Dell needs to fix this or I will be forced to return it.

The connection to my wireless network shows as "Limited".  Using Windows 10 pro on the 15 inch XPS 9550 with a Broadcom wireless adapter.  Resetting the wireless router did not help.

Ideas?

Hi I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my Vostro 3460 now I can't connect to my home wireless network?

Any idea what is missing or what drivers need installing?...I can get on the net by using an ethernet cable only.

Many years ago you could find all the drivers for a Dell computer from their support page but now I just see info on Windows 10 or invites to RSS feeds everything buy the drivers I need!

I don’t understand my touchpad on my xps 13 running windows 10. I’ll be scrolling when suddenly the screen zooms, or it will switch to  the view that shows which apps are running.When I keep my cursor on an email heading or a link, it switches to the body of the email or the link. Where can I find instructions for how to set up and use touchpad settings addressing these problems?

My Inspiron 1545 died over a year ago.

It wouldn't fire up at all, black screen.

I recently pulled it out again.

Now it will begin the POST process.

On the first recent start, it got to the Windows 7 logo page and stalled.

Then, it would only go to the Win7 boot manager page with a memory diagnostic option, or the Win7 repair page asking for an installation disc.

It beeps sometimes 2X, sometimes 3X, sometimes 4X, and maybe more that I didn't count. before opening the boot mgr., or repair pages, but mostly 3X.

It seems that no matter what I'm trying to do the only thing on the keyboard that works is the on/off button.

I cannot choose any options on the error pages.

I cannot find any way to do any diagnostics.

When it first died my feeling was that it was a keyboard problem.

Now I wonder if memory might also be part of the problem.

Any suggestions as to how to get started on finding what is causing the problems so that I can go about getting them fixed.

I'm trying to get an SCCM image via PXE boot on the Latitude 7275. I am not using the dock. I have a USB Hub/NIC (powered by adapter) attached via the USB to USB C adapter. I have BIOS set to THOROUGH. Just for added insurance, the network port is POE.  It appears that no matter the settings I test in BIOS, the NIC is never seen, so I never get a option to PXE boot.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am having so much problem on this unit. First issue the graphics not responding and now second the loud fan noise! *** is happening to my Laptop. Hi,

          In my laptop Model DELL Inspiron 14z -5423 while booting not taking HDD, Also it shows please select a proper bootable media. if i put the same HDD in to another PC or Laptop it will boot.

Hey everyone. I own an INSPIRON 15 7000 (7537), and I’m trying to find a replacement for my charger (which I lost last week). It may be a dumb question, but I just can’t find which model will work for my laptop. I googled it and I found both the 90w (19.5V/4.62A) and the 65w (19.5V/3.34A) listed as compatible. I’m afraid of buying the wrong one and damage my battery. Help!
