Hi!
  We have had an Inspiron 1525 for 8 years now and are wanting to purchase a new laptop soon.  This thing has been decent for what we have used it for, but it is now running slower than molasses in July!  ;)  If we end up going with Dell again,  can anyone recommend any of the new laptops?  A friend of mine said to go with a refurbished one.  I would consider that but still have no idea what to get!  There are so many to pick from!  We don't want anything fancy - we use it to do basic things.  We get on the internet, load cds and burn to MP3 players,  load photos, ect...  No gaming or anything like that, though we like to watch videos sometimes (though our internet pretty much *** and almost everything buffers constantly!).  Any advice would be appreciated, including what to look for as far as GB, RAM, and the other basic things.  I am a technically challenged person!  Also - we would love to keep it under $500.

I recently had my brand new Dell Inspiron 7559 replaced for 2 dead pixels and the one that replaced it is also brand new. I have literally only had it for a month or less and the soft touch is peeling up already. On top of that the track pad is sticking up in on corner so whenever I go to use it, it feels awkward. I don't want to return it again unless it's super necessary. Are there any ways I can fix this before I consider returning it for the second time? This is starting to get annoying after spending so much money on this laptop and it has all of these problems. I really want to like it because it has a nice look to it and the hardware is good; but if the thing is falling apart after a month, imagine how it'll look after a year!

2.5 hours with support. Replacement on the way. I predict this will not work. Not ready for prime time. Should've stuck with macbook air (defected because lack of Skylake model -- so mistake, much regret)...

good evening  i have a 1537 

1 how do you test a dell studio battery and dose it have a pin up you have to implement  to test the battery

2 see it powers the computer but the computer ses it cant detect it so it will not charge it 

3 is thair any way u could email me the correct schismatic on how do this  

4 the battery test lights on the battery do not show any charge

Hello,

Sorry but I feel chasing my tail. I have tried installing the Wireless Driver for E3550 Laptop (Windows 8 Pro) but no luck.

Tried the following:

1) Using my support tag, I located the drivers for my Latitude 3550 and downloaded and tried installing the following wireless drivers:

a) Dell Wireless 1802/1707/1601/1506 WiFi/Bluetooth Driver (File name = Network_Driver_JKMR5_WN32_10.0.0.328_A04.EXE)

b) Dell Airplane Mode Switch Driver (File name = Network_Driver_90M6T_WN_1.4.1_A00.EXE)

c) Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Drive (File name = Network_Driver_7M000_WN_8.30.328.2014_A00.EXE)

Additionally I have tried installing the Chipset, Bios and all other fun stuff. 

But the Windows Pro 8 does not recognize the Wireless driver. I have also tried using generic drivers that come along with the O/S, but does not recognize the wireless adapter.

Any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated,

Has this happened  to any one?  My hardrive starts to boot up then within 10 seconds it shuts down with a slow dieing whine. The battery is good and it's plugged in. Thanks   Bill

Hi there. I received my Dell Inspiron 13 7359 for about a week and used it normally with the touch screen function.  But when I used it today i discovered that the touchscreen function is not working. Will Dell exchange the laptop for the touchscreen free of charge? What should I do?

Hi, I recently bought an Inspiron 15 and getting the below message quite often :

"Display driver Intel HD Graphics 520 for Windows 8(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered". I have no idea how to fix it and it becomes difficult to browse or use laptop with this issue.

 I have a Dell Inspiron 1564 with a 15 inch display.

Even though it has not fallen and I have used it with care. But the plastic near the right hinge

near the DVD writer has cracked and it has broken.

I want to get it repaired what will be the cost ? And is there any service centre in Thane West who does it?

Hello,

I am using Windows 10 Enterprise N. Softwares which are installed on my computer are licensed.

My problem is:

• If my computer starts without error and let me log in my account, It is automatically having closed(black) screen in anytime which is not timely. But, somehow volume buttons on the left have lights and power button on the right has no light.

• When I try to open my computer, it is starting with closed screen. Power button has no light, volume buttons have light. It looks like it's working, but it is on the bios or somewhere which let you shut down your computer with one simple press on power button.

• When I try to open my computer and I pass bios password screen, it tries to load operation system. But on same screen system repeats same problem. Power button has no light, volume buttons have lights. It is closed screen again.

Additional information

• Power button is working as power button.

• Power button has lights while operation system is working correctly.

• Yesterday, somehow system gave error about Apoint device/driver not found.

• I reinstalled operation system. There is no old files on C.

• There are 2 hard disk on the computer. One of them Samsung EVO series SSD, other one WD 750gb 7200 rpm hdd

• My computer's battery has no problem while it is working. It is working without electricity more than 4-5 hours.

• I bought my computer at the end of 2014 or in 2015.

HI. I have laptop dell vostro 3555 with fingerprint sensor. Soon I change the older hard disk with new and install the original windows 7 *64 home premium ed. I install all applications and drivers from Dell support, but I can't find driver and application for the fingerprint sensor. There is only in win8 drivers a such driver. Please help me what driver to install.

Hello, I have just brought a second hand Dell inspiron 1545 Laptop.

It worked fine, The only trouble was, that there was an issue with it only running on mains power and the battery was not charging.

I was told that the Charging jack board needed replacing ( a common problem with these models I understand)

I replaced the board and put everything back together only to find that it's now not working at all even on mains power.

Any ideas? before I have to strip the whole *** thing down again?

I have a sandisk 6hgig USB3.0 memory stick that I have installed an Ubuntu Live distro on.

During the boot process I press F12 for the boot menu.

The USB3.0 memory stick is not shown (This works with a 32gig USB2 memory stick)

However when I remove the USB3.0 memory stick it is very hot (almost too hot to hold)

I have updaetd the BIOS recently

I have an Alienware 17 r3.

Can anyone please help.

Hello,
I have dell 7510, when I was working on it the screen freeze.
I restart the laptop then it doesn't start.
The first led light when I start then disappear after that the third led blinking orange (2 times) and (light 5 times)
Led two on after three repetition of led three.
I hope someone could help me

I recently acquired a used M4500 and equipped it with a new Samsung 850 Evo SSD card (mSATA) - latest firmware. Everything is working well, except that, in the early (pre?)boot phase, the system is spending a lot of time talking to the drive.

Before DELL's typical BIOS loading screen, I have around 5 seconds of black screen, with no HD lights on. After the screen, I also have five seconds of the same. After that, the HD light comes on, and the machine takes 15-20 seconds doing god-knows-what. But it's not booting just yet, e.g. if I insert a regular drive in the HD bay, the system will only ask me *after* the 15-20 seconds which OS I'd like to boot. Of course, if I remove the SSD card, the 15-20 seconds are skipped.

Does anyone have an idea why this is happening (or how to figure it out), and if there's a way around it? BIOS has already been updated to the latest A15. Thanks!

I recently acquired a used M4500 which is always doing a hard "power off" (accompanied with the typical "ugly" sound) after exiting BIOS. The event in itself obviously isn't a major hassle (after setting everything up, it is unlikely that I will enter - or exit - the BIOS anytime soon). I'm simply curious about the reasons and want to make sure this isn't the symptom of some major hardware issue that will come to haunt me later on.

The BIOS logs say "ASF2 force off".

I am running the latest A15 BIOS. BIOS preboot diagnostics went through without issues. Thanks in advance!

Vostro 3750 came with Win7, updated to Win10, and all worked fine.  Then had to be clean installed with Win10 after a corruption problem, therefore wiped out all Dell installed drivers that came with Win7 original.

Downloaded Digital persona finger print reader 5.2 for this laptop from My Dell Downloads. It gets about half way installed then hangs with the progress bar stuck in one position.  Have to force close the installer and reboot.  Re downloaded again fine, but still exact same hang.

Is there something about this version 5.2 that will not install on Win10?  Any later version that will, and if so where do I find it.

I only use it on initial boot ups, not for browser site sign-ins.

I recently purchased an Inspiron 5555 laptop. Since day 1 when I wake it up the screen is covered in lines, it also happens throughout my use.  At times the screen will go black and I have to hit it to come back.  I can plug it into another source and that works fine but I have a laptop so I could work remotely. I tried returning within a couple weeks of buying but it took so long to get a response that the return time expired.

How can I get the screen to work on this <profanity> dell that I bought?  And don't give me the customer service phone number.  I don't have the hours to waste sitting on the phone.  I bought a new computer because I didn't have time for problems. Guess I should have bought something other than a Dell.

I have just purchased a new Inspiron 2 in 1 along with a new SSD.  I need assistance on whatever is needed so when I plug in the new SSD it will be up and running. A geek squad employee told me after setting up the laptop out of the box, I could just swap the original HDD with the new SSD, but that didn't work.
