This is my first time in the forum, but after no support from Dell over the telephone I thought I would see if I could get help elsewhere.

I bought my XPS15 9530 in February 2015, and have had the same fault occur 3 times, where the laptop will ot power on. Each time I have tried the usual, check the power adapter, disconnect the battery, hold down the button for 'X' seconds etc. with no luck.

The first time occurred in May/June 2015 and was repaired by Dell under Warranty, by replacing the motherboard. The second time occured in November 2015 and again Dell repaired it under warranty by replacing the motherboard. Now in April 2016 the same fault has occured.

Having spoken to Dell the only thing they can do as my laptop is out of warranty is send me a replacement motherboard for a price of £737!! I did complain and said that this was a recorruing fault and there must be a manufacturing issue. They did not confirm this and just said basically no warranty, no help (except for a fee)!!.

I said for £737 I may as well buy another laptop, even though this one cost me around £1500 when I bought it! In hindsight, maybe a warranty extension should have been purchased but I would have hoped Dell would look after customers for re-occuring faults!! I also said my lesson learnt for the day is don't buy Dell!!

Hi dell team,

I got dell inspiron 15 and my friend has a apple and Hp laptops. we all are sited on the same room but my laptop only loosing wifi and not join again for several hours . i followed the online dell diagnosis and updated few software , eventhough i re installed the window 10 but problem hasnt been gone so far ... 

If you can help me to sort out my problem other wise i throw this *** laptop for recycle...

Hello!

Alienware 17 R2(2014) - AC adapter is having problems with not being recognised, a prompt message appears on my screen as it's plugged in. Now this is the second AC adapter that i have had as the original died from wear and tare..I feel as if my GPU doesn't like this new AC adapter and there for i have lower performance with my games. Can anybody give me a solution or do i need to go ahead and throw this AC charger out?

I Purchased a New dell 17 (5758) I ran PowerCFG to generate a battery report. The design capacity is around 41,440 mWh however the full charge capacity is 36,171 mWh.

is this fine? This doesn't seem right. if its a new machine and battery surely the Design Capacity and Full Charge Capacity should be the same or at least close. This seems like quite a big gap, do I have a depleted battery?

Greetings,

I’ve had Dell for years and quiet pleased with performance. I’m in the midst of purchasing a new Dell laptop. A huge deal breaker for me is the type of keyboard that I’m seeing being deployed more and more with laptops across all vendors. I do not know the proper terms for the keyboard configuration (full size, mid-size), but the bottom line is, I absolutely hate laptops with touch sticks, the Enter key “vertically” shaped, and most importantly keypads.

I currently have a 15R SE 7520 and I love it, but it is starting to show signs of EOL. I’m looking at Dell Inspiron 17R M731R. The M731R appears to has everything I want, but it has a keypad which is really the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger.  I would like to know if there is a place I can go to order a dell laptop without a keypad.

Let me be clear, while I appreciate everyone’s feedback, I am not looking for alternative solutions with a keypad (‘just don’t use the keypad’, ‘disabled such-and-such registry key’, etc..)

What I want is no keypad (or touch stick or vertical Enter key.) I would rather look at Dell’s higher series of laptops (XPS 15 – which may be an option) and get what I want instead of short changing myself and getting what I don’t want, and try to change it into what I do want.

With the up-most respect, if you cannot help with my want, please do not post.

I Purchased a New dell 17 (5758) I ran PowerCFG to generate a battery report. The design capacity is around 41,440 mWh however the full charge capacity is 36,171 mWh.

is this fine? This doesn't seem right. if its a new machine and battery surely the Design Capacity and Full Charge Capacity should be the same or at least close. This seems like quite a big gap, do I have a depleted battery?

Hey there.

Earlier today, my Windows 7 Latitude E6540 was working fine, no troubles with its power or docking station. After spending some time with it unplugged in another room, I noticed my laptop had gone "dark", even though I hadn't closed the lid in transit. No lights, no response to pressing the power button... nothing. So, I pulled the battery for a hard reset and re-inserted it. The laptop came up normally, no problems at all.

Next, I plugged it into my dual-monitor docking station. Strange things start to happen. I've experimented with multiple docking stations and power combinations, and here's what I've found:

• When connected to the docking station and with the power adaptor connected to the dock, the laptop does not charge and the whole computer starts to respond sluggishly. The hard disk light starts to come on, and the mouse no longer scrolls smoothly. This is not specific to any dock or adaptor, as I've experimented with multiple of both, new and old.
• If I remove power from the dock, the computer goes back to normal. The dock still functions as a USB hub and multi-monitor system. It still shows as powered, apparently by the laptop.
• If I connect the same power adaptor directly to the laptop, everything is still fine and the laptop charges. This is how I'm running right now.

There is no visible damage to the docking station connector.

My first thought is that pulling the battery reset something internally, and now when I connect to a powered dock something in the laptop is "competing" between the battery and the dock power, thus causing the sluggish response and refusal to recharge off the dock's power. I have no idea if that's even possible. It's just a theory that fits the symptoms.

Anyone have any ideas?

i have dell inspiron 15 almost year and half old with windows 10 installed. I am having a problem with battery detection. My laptop doesn't without ac adopter. Under status bar there is a cross over the battery with plug in sign when i click on it, it says ""no battery present"".

i have replaced the adopter battery and reinstalled the whole windows but nothing worked can anyone tell anything about the problem.

Hi,

Can some one help me with this issue pls.

I just bought this laptop yesterday and since this morning, laptop is just restarting again and again and again.

I tried with Diagnostics option, there was no issue with full pass.

Boot setting is also to default, but still my laptop is not working.

Kindly help me with this same.

HI there,

After messing with over clocking the skylake cpu, I proceeded to modify the memory "cloak"? From the factory setting of 8 to 10 as the video I was watching recommended it. It's my fault really.

Now it won't even start or boot into bios and it beeps 4 times. After looking through Google for a while I learned 4 beeps means a memory problem. I really do think nothing is defective and it was just the setting I messed with that started it all. I could be wrong of course. This laptop is only a month old so I hope not.

Help please! Is there anyway to boot into bios so I can revert the changes?

My dell Inspiron 14 has started to auto-adjust the contrast of the screen and way off when on battery mode. After lots of research i concluded that the issue was the dell intelligent display. I tried disabling the secure boot so that i can find the option in the dell power options but to no avail, i can't find the option that says dell intelligent display at all.

Hi. I have a  Vostro 3500 is out of warranty for around 4 years now and has been running perfectly.

However, the FFC freom the media buttons to the motherboard is damaged and I have been trying to source a replacement. I have looked on ebay and have seen many media buttons for different Vostro laptops and although some of the cables read the same numbers I am unsure one of these will fit.

The numbers on the cable are JH20101022, 50.4ET05.101 and the cable has the numbers JI-HAW 2896 80C VW-1 on it.

Is this cable only on the vostro 3500 or can I get another cable from another model vostro's media buttons and get it to work?

Otherwise, do you know where I can source one from apart from ordering from the US which will cost quite a bit please?

am trying to minimise the cost as I do not work due to disability and cannot afford a new laptop but also like to repair rather than contributing to landfill!

Anyway, any help or advice on this would be appreciated.

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R SE 7520. When trying to get to the innards of my Laptop I find I find that the screws under the keyboard spin freely. Is there anything that I can do to get inside of my laptop or am I simply incapable of doing so?

Recently purchased a refurb xps 15"9550, 4k screen, 16 gb ram, 500 ssd (not the hybrid drive), Intel i7 processor, Windows 10 home. 

After receiving it, I downloaded Windows 10 from Microsoft and created a bootable flash drive, and reinstalled Windows 10 to get rid of the useless Dell apps and any lingering spyware. Even on a clean installation I have noticed some odd issues with the computer. Particularly with sites that use flash, like youtube, facebook, gmail. The computer will just halt. browser will die. Using chrome, latest version. 32 bit. 

Other odd behaviors, and perhaps the most concerning is the persistence of notifications in their alert area. For example, a calendar notification will slide out from the bottom right, and stay on the screen after clicking the dismiss button. This persistence progresses into the system tray becoming unresponsive, then the start menu also becoming unresponsive (i.e. it won't load at all) and then the start menu will just "restart", and the notification is gone.

This has appeared on multiple installations of Windows 10 based on an installation created using the microsoft media creator tool and is somewhat worrisome. 

Bios version is the one ending in .19,which I did update myself, it was .15 I believe prior. All drivers are installed and up to date to my knowledge. No stop errors or blue screens. 

The issue occurs when there is nothing running on the computer (like a browser or similar) or when an app is open. It seems to be indifferent to other apps. My desktop does not do this. 

Anyone familiar with this odd behavior?

Hello.  I have a Dell Inspiron 3147, 2-in-1 lap top.  I have had it for over a year and it have worked great.  But in the past week it has all of the sudden become slow.  I can't play games that require the internet very well.  I tried refreshing my PC, but that didn't help any.  I don't know enough about computers to know what IPv4 means, or if 72.2 Mbps is good or not.  Any ideas on what is wrong, or what to try would be helpful.  Thanks.

-IPv4 Connectivity: Internet

-IPv6 Connectivity: No Internet access

-Speed: 72.2 Mbps

Hi guys,

This is a long story. I'll try to summarise. Purchased Dell Inspiron 3543 just two months ago from Hafeez center, Lahore. The seller was very nice at the time I purchased it and assured me of every help in terms of after sale service.

The laptop recently (after exact 72 days of purchase) started giving the error "Plugged in, not charging" and the battery reduced and stuck to under 5%.

During start up, it also gave charger error and asked to connect a 65W charger, battery may not charge etc.

I searched for solutions; and tried every possible solution at home.

The following didn't work;

1. Tapping around the plug where charging pin connects

2. Inserting charger by force, twisting etc

3. Deleting the APCI battery drivers from device manager and reconnecting the battery

4. Updating bios, I used rufus to create DOS bootable stick as Windows didn't let me because battery had to be above 10% to flash update bios, and it worked using /forceit command in DOS mode.

5. Running diagnosis tests on safe mode startup.

The test resulted in battery health 94%, charger Unknown, battery charging condition idle etc.

6. Upgrading to Windows 10

7. Installing fresh copy of Windows 7

8. Updating all drivers through Dell website

9. Running auto diagnosis tests available on Dell.com

10. Installing different battery health booster software

And doing everything that I found on internet that worked for anybody before, watched 100s of YouTube videos literally.

I finally took my laptop to the shop I purchased it. The guy this time was very rude. He suggested to reinstall Windows etc and other stupid things that I had tried and tested multiple times before. I asked him to check with any other charger, as I suspected the charger was the issue. When he tried a new charger, the status error vanished, after Windows loaded, battery started charging smoothly.

So guys it was the charger. (Adapter)

He told me charger has no warranty. I'd have to purchase a new one. I insisted that I need to claim for warranty. He never wanted to cooperate.

I finally found the lahore pop office there in Hafeez center and took my issue to them. Those were reasonable guys, they checked my receipt, warranty card and the issue and kept my adapter for claim. Gave me a date (15 working days) to collect the fixed Adapter from them.

My laptop stays dead till that and let's see how it goes.

I'm very unhappy though.
