I have recently purchased the USB-C Adapter to connect to my office displays which support VGA and HDMI.

I installed the supported drivers for the adapter and noticed that the VGA connection works, but the HDMI input does not.

Has anyone experienced this problem and if so, what can I do to resolve this?

Just received my laptop a month ago; and already I lost a drive from my DVD player; And I lost my graphics drive causing my screen to go black; the conclusion from Dell is I needed a new CPU; Is this common on a new computer?  Never got the chance to use this computer much with the short time I had it; Dell already replaced the hard drive to no remedy.

DA200 Thunderbolt 3 dongle supporting QHD or bigger resolutions on HDMI

I've got XPS 13 (9350) and Dell UH2515H. With DA200 Thunderbolt 3 dongle and HDMI 2.0 cable I can't anything more than 2048x1152 which would suggest HDMI 1.2.

I updated all drivers, BIOS and firmware with no luck.

Has anyone managed to connect the external screen with higher resolution using DA200?

XPS 13 9333 (developer edition) motherboard dead. AGAIN!!!

It is the second time in 1.5 years I got my laptop dead due to motherboard issue.
Not to mention all the issues with the USB port, touchpad, noise and all.
This time I have no warranty and this time I give up - Dell XPS 13 is the worse laptop I've ever had and the last Dell product I've ever bought.
Too bad Dell abused the Linux/Ubuntu community to sell their experimental hardware with no reliability whatsoever ...

My SSD with Intel Smart Response Technology on my Inspiron 7520 doesnt work. Apparently RAID isn't set up properly. So I clean installed Windows 10 but that didn't help. If I set the SATA Operation mode to Intel Smart Response (Which I assume is RAID mode) the OS doesn't start and says "inaccessible boot device". If I boot from a Windows stick (since DVD wouldnt even boot) no drives are found in Windows Setup. How do I get the RAID mode to work properly?

Hi,

I am considering upgrading my current Dell M4600 (I7 2720QM, 32GB 1600MHz RAM, BIOS A13) to a 2960XM. Is this CPU compatible with my Dell M4600?

Thanks,

RAM Upgrade - Dell Studio 1435

I have two Dell laptops; a Dell Vostro 3550 64-bit and a Dell Studio 1435 32-bit.

I've previously upgraded the RAM in my Vostro and from that upgrade, I now have a spare 2GB RAM (pictured below)

My query:

I am wondering if this 2GB RAM will be able to fit into my Dell Studio 1435 because I am thinking of adding this 2GB RAM to the existing 3GB RAM in the Dell Studio 1435.

1. Are all RAMs used by Dell laptops of uniform size?

2. Is there another slot in the Studio 1435 to accommodate this 2GB RAM (the Vostro has two RAM slots)?

Thank you.

Andrew

I have tried several programs to Clone my factory hard drive to a SSD hard drive. On all tries, I was unable to restore my system from the restore option during boot up. My laptop, Inspiron E6410, during boot, shows the options Windows 7 or System Recovery. After Cloning, Windows 7 works fine but when I select System Restore, I get an error message.

Retriving Windows cd key from laptop with preinstaled OS.

Hi I was wondering what ways are there of retriving windows cd-key from laptop with preinstalled system.

I am trying to fix my mothers laptop and it might have some wierd software issues preventing it from accesing the intrnet, I am no expert and the only fix i know is to format the thing :P Which is also good cause it has like never been formated and its a mess there. It didnt come with a dics so I figured ill just download windows and burn it on one. I do need a prodct key for that though. The laptop has ofc the sticker at the bottom of it but its wron out and i cant see the whole code :P

I already tried using a few of magicky programs i found on the internet, but the code they give me doesnt match the part still visible on the sticker ;/

I was wondering what options do i have here ? is there any way i could ask dell to provide the code for me?

Or is there any program that actually works ?:P Or maybe somethign else i didnt come up with.

Any help would be apprichated :)

Thanks

Can't PXE Boot with XPS 13 9350

$

My company recently had to purchase a few new laptops due to expansion, and the XPS 12 9333 was no longer available, so we were sold the XPS 13 9350 instead, being assured that it is the same system and everything will be supported as was with the XPS 12. I ran through the normal steps in BIOS to ensure PXE Boot will work (disable Secure Boot, enable legacy boot options, etc.), but when I hit F12 to try to run a network boot I do not see the option in the Boot menu. All I see is Windows Boot Manager and the Samsung SSD. Has anyone else here had this issue and been able to resolve it? We are using the suggested StarTech USB21000S2 Ethernet adapters, which Dell sold us.

Trying to deal with their customer support has proven to me why I HATE DELL with a passion. Advised my boss to go with ASUS or Lenovo, but she wanted to go with Dell because of a long business relationship. You cannot get anyone that speaks clear English on the line, you have to explain your issue 10 times before you finally get someone that is able/willing to help. No one there seems to understand what I meant by PXE boot or kept telling me it is not allowed on their laptops.

Never buy Dell products!!!!!

Dear sir, Madame good morning,

I would like to report an issue about a laptop I bought in october 2013 in Greece and underline how disappointed I am about the service your company provides in Greece.

Take a few minutes to read the whole story....

After searching for three months and listening to many of my friends about your products I decided to buy the Which was one of your newest models and a very powerful machine.of the price was equal to the machine(1250€)

I received my Model in October and after three days some very annoying high frequency noises.after waiting for one week in case the problem would disappear I contact my retailer who told me that there was nothing to worry about because the laptop had 2 years warranty and the service Dell provides is the best.Of course your service was one of the retailers strong points when advising

me what laptop to buy.

I left my laptop at the retailer and three days he told me that a technician was at his store for my laptop.

I went there immediately to tell him the problem.his answer was not to worry. After trying to listen to the noise he told me that everything was ok.i insisted that the noise was there and of course in that environment he may not be able(though I could hear the screaming sound also there) but when I try to work at my house in the night the high frequencies drive me crazy!!!I also told him that the sound was coming under the keyboard and that when turning the brightness very high some times it stopped.

The answer was that it was obviously the monitor so he changed it right in front of me.

After returning home the same noise was coming under the keyboard and of course I started searching the web about this problem.while I was looking there were many people having the same problem with and many of them( some

of these conversations took part in dell's chat room)had their laptops replaced.

After a few months without operating the laptop(because the screaming sound was killing me) I decided that I should ask for a replacement because the laptop was still very new and I could possibly not accept that after paying almost two of my salaries for buying a state of the art piece of equipment, it was a faulty machine from the beginning and I was still had to work on my desktop!!!!!

So I contact my retailer telling him that after reading many reports on the web the problem was the Radeon that was on the motherboard and that it was accommodate problem on this specific model.he turned off the Radeon card (obviously I am not aware of doing that) and the sound disappeared!!!! He told me we will contact Dell and they will solve with the problem.after contacting the Dell support they told us to sent the laptop there and 2 days later a courrier picked it up to take

it to your service.

4 weeks later the retailer called me and with a huge smile told me: didn't I tell you?? Their service is the best!!!!

I was thrilled that I would finally be able to work in quiet but this only proved to be a dream because the screaming sound just appeared e few minutes after turning the machine on.......

Next thing I did was to contact Dell support in Greece.the guy on the phone was very helpful except the part I told him that this is a problem with many of your machines in that specific model.his answer was that these are only rumors and there is nothing wrong.the guy told me that I had me monitor and the whole motherboard changed by Dell.i told him that I knew about the monitor but I didn't know about the motherboard since the service was conducted at your service desk.after doing some work by phone (he told me to push some buttons and the computer ran some tests for about an hour)he told me that he will send me some

upgrade files for both the cards onboard and for something else.I received the files by mail the same day and a friend came next week and installed them.

I did not know what the files were supposed to do put the sure thing is that the sound was still there...

I was searching for a *** to advice me on this since the two years of warranty were running over and finally the laptop one night just would not open at all!!!!! It was making seven or eight beeps and that was all!!!

So I ran to my retailer and told him that my laptop obviously died.. He said that we would contact Dell again and there was nothing to worry about....

After a few days he told me on the phone that my laptop was off the warranty because it expired something about 10 days ago but he was pressing them to accept to see the problem...I told him that I had a new motherboard installed on it 6 months ago and that it should have a warranty so i should be covered by it.

After about two weeks Dell service accepted only to examine the laptop for free because it was not covered by the warranty!!!!!

4 weeks after leaving the laptop at my retailer he called me back.

" the motherboard is off,the machine is off the warranty and the cost is 1234 €" was his words..........

I told him about the new motherboard and he said that it had three months warranty only..

Dear sir/ madam me I just want you to answer me if this is Dell's policy worldwide or only in Greece.

Because if Dell in Greece wants me to pay 2484€ In 2 and a half years for only one piece of equipment which obviously was faulty from the begging this is unacceptable.i cannot even say if the motherboard was replaced at Dell service because I was not witnessing the service and of course I am not sure if the one installed in my computer was a new one or a one that was serviced at Dell service in Greece.

And of course after

paying these 1234€ according to what Dell serice says I will have only 3 months of warranty???(because that is what they say for this motherboard)

I hope you understand that in a country were the salries do not exceed 600€ per month I can not afford to give 2500€ in 27 months for a laptop.but I am willing to afford a *** to search about the warranty of parts put after a service.

Thank you for your time and I am waiting for your reply..

File Explorer not working

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and one of the problems that I encountered is that File Explorer hangs and displays "working on it".  After trying dozens of fixes that seem to have worked for other I used a process that requires you to restart in clean boot.  It was a chore but I have found two services that are causing my problem.  With them disabled, the file explorer functions, with them enabled I just get a green progress bar and the working on it message.

The proceses are "TDM Service" and "Wave Authentication Manager Service" both by Wave Systems Corp.  I think that they are used by the fingerprint reader but I'm not sure.  I don't use the fingerprint reader anymore.

Now that I have identified the problem, I don't know how to proceed.  Can I permanently disable these services and if I do what are the consequences?  Is there a way to update something to make the service function properly?

Any info of help would be greatly appreciated.

What is meaning "Anti-Glare" in notebook specification?

Hi,

I have ordered  the Dell Precision 7510 with  "15.6" UltraSharp FHD Touch IPS (1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee"

While ordering I assume that the notebook panel will be matte (Anti-Glare). But then I revived the ordered notebook the panel was complete glossy comparable with my old M4600 notebook.

So the question is it assembly issue?  Is id "by design"? But what the  "Anti-Glare" means in that case?

Best,
Stanislav.

Dell Pointing Devices

I have made the switch to Windows 10 and I find the multiple desktop feature to be very useful. I would like to be able to switch between them using a touchpad gesture rather than a keyboard combination, in my case the four-finger swipe to change the virtual desktop, like a Mac. However, when I go into Dell Pointing Devices and look at the gestures assigned, I am not able to change them.

Is there a way to change it or is it permanently set? I seem to recall I could change it on Windows 8 but I don't fully recall and haven't found anyway to change it.

Thanks!

Latitude E5540: "Power connected, battery not charging" at 39%

$

Hi there,

I have some serious trouble with my Latitude E5540. In Windows (10, 64bit), it says that it's working on AC, but does not charge. It stays at 39%.

I've done some reading on the Internet and found several approaches which I followed. I updated BIOS and cleaned the connectors of the battery, which obviously didn't help.

Now, I've really run out of ideas and cannot come up with anything more. I've contacted Dell support, but I guess they won't help because the device is more than two years old and I only had 1 year NBD service.

Something I haven't tried is uninstalling the battery hardware from the device manager. Is this a serious option?

I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Any suggestion is most welcome! Thanks in advance.

Greetings,

Achim
