Hi, my E5570 Windows 10 stopped seeing any 5Ghz networks on Wifi (both ac and n). I cant recall any major changes in system to trigger that. 2.4Ghz is working just fine, I tried newest BIOS (1.4.7), also reinstalling network drivers, checking all device settings multiple times. Any idea? My hw is 18260 TriBand. Thanks, M.

Dell N5110 Win10 touchpad gestures

Hello,

I updated my N5110 to Windows 10 last night, and everything works, even the touchpad. The problem I am facing is that the three finger swipe up triggers Cortana instead of Task View and three finger swipe down triggers Settings instead of Show Desktop.

I tried editing registry value of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Alps\Apoint\Gesture\3FlickVerFunc from 30004 to some other, and I managed to trigger volume raising, but that is not what I want. Does anyone know the DWORD value that I can set to trigger Task View and Show Deskop options?

Thank you in advance,
Dusan

Windows 10 upgrade fails to install

I have now been trying unsuccessfully for 3 days to upgrade to Windows 10. I have tried via updates, via download from Microsoft. Nothing works.  The installation gets to around 45% then on one of the many restarts the screen freezes on the black Dell logo screen. I have Windows 8.1, plenty of space on my Inspiron 17 7000 series. I do not know what to do.  I have to switch off and switch on again several times before it will recover my 8.1 version again

Battery not charging while on AC power XPS 1645, Invalid AC_Adapter message

$

I have an XPS 1645.  It worked fine, except the video card failed.  I purchased and replaced the motherboard with a new one, same model (0Y507R).

Everything worked perfect afterward, except, it would not charge the battery.  It worked fine off of the battery, it worked fine off of AC power, but the battery would not charge.  Orange lights on the side of the laptop would blink, and it said it wasn't connected to an AC adapter on the Windows task bar (Even though it was getting power from it).

I ran the diagnostics, and it said

MSG AC_Adapter - Invalid AC Adapter Detected

And

PRIMARY_BATTERY_SAV - User: Charger connected, found disconnected

Can anyone tell me what that means?

Is it possible the specs changed for the 1645 and it required a different AC Adapter at some point?  It doesn't say the adapter is the wrong adapter at startup.  And it is the original power adapter... it worked fine with the old motherboard.

Thanks

Hi there,

I'm having this particular problem with my Dell laptop - ' PXE- E61 Media test failed'. Sometimes it is showing this error while mostly the screen gets dark and system restarts automatically without showing any error message. There is no error message for anything like missing operating system or anything except this PXE-E61. Don't know what to do.

Looked out dell forum for help  but cannot find a solution for this. I even tried to reinstall windows using a bootable windows disc but some how it is not able to read the DVD.

Note: 1) This particular bootable DVD was read by same laptop few hours earlier before the problem arose.

2)Tried Diagnostic and nothing is wrong there.

Please help me.

Inspiron 5100 WiFi

Hello. I would like to have WiFi functionality on old Inspiron 5100 laptop with Windows XP professional. It does not have mini PC card installed.

I bought a cheap brandless 300M USB WiFi adapter and got what I paid for. It does not connect to wireless network. After driver’s installation, the device manager recognized a “new device” as “Realtek RTL8192EU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter”. And “The device is working properly”. Wireless network is listed, with great signal strength, but there is no connection to it.

One of the things I noticed was the lack of WPA2 in the list of available encryptions, and that is what my network is using. But even after switching the network to WEP (for test purposes) and selecting WEP on laptop’s connection, there is still no connection.

Is there an option (PC card, PCMCIA, USB adapter) for this Inspiron 5100 to have WiFi with WPA2 support?

Thank you. I appreciate your help.

1511 Update Problems

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 5523 (15z) running Windows 10 Home x64 v10240.

I would like to reach the Nov Update (1511), but I am unable to as I have a problem in SECOND_BOOT with MIGRATE_DATA.

My log file from the last time I tried it (my username has been replaced with 'MyUsername'):

onedrive.live.com/redir;authkey=!AAsNLzORGQTI75k&ithint=file%2clog

I would like to run 1511 without having to do a clean install, but simply upgrade, and after speaking to Microsoft's support, it appears to be a driver issue - can someone work out which driver? I have no SD card inserted (as appears to be a common error), and I have tried installing from a virtual drive (ISO), USB (Media Creation Tool), Media Creation Tool, DVD, and non have worked.

Thanks in advance!

Touchpad issues Inspiron 3147

I  recently had the keyboard and touchpad  on my Dell Inspiron 3147 11" notebook replaced under warranty for an issue unrelated to my new problem.  Now I am unable to change the touchpad settings. The touchpad works, but I am unable to use any gestures, such as the two finger swipe.  When attempting to change the touchpad settings in the settings dialogue box, the cursor just spins.  I have the latest driver and reinstalled it just to be sure.

SSD Problem on Dell 7559 - Page fault in nonpaged area

Hi, I'm a foreign user so sorry in advance if my english is not top class.

I've recently bought a Dell 7559 and my aim is to install Windows10 on a Samsung MZ-N5E250BW.

So I created a bootable usb (first attempt with Rufus, second attempt with the diskpart command from the Windows prompt), I dismounted the HDD and inserted the SSD in the m2 spot.

I switched from the UEFI bios mode to the Legacy one, these are my bios settings:

Boot List Option                        [Legacy]
Secure Boot                              [Disabled]
Load Legacy Option Rom      [Enabled]

I plugged my usb and it seemed to works fine, the Win10 logo appeared a then blue window "Page fault in nonpaged area".

Both the ssd and the bootable usb work on another laptop.
An user from another forum said that he received a particular USB pen directly from Dell, but I don't like this solution, I cannot depend on an specific hardware to change my OS.

Do you have some advices ?

Thanks a lot.
Best regards.

Precision 7710 and Samsung NVMe 950 Pro

I have a new 7710 that came with a 256GB NVMe SSD.  I have upgraded it to a Samsung 950 Pro 512.  I am using Windows 10 UEFI.

I have a question on the bios setting.  Should it be AHCI or RAID.  The machine came default with RAID On and came with Win 10 Pro pre-installed.

Currently I switched it to ACHI, used the MS Download and installed Win 10 Pro.  Once in windows, I installed all the dell drivers and also the Samsung NVMe driver.

I have read on different forums that the bios setting should be RAID, but also read it should be AHCI.

Question:  Which should it be.  Is one better than the other?

Or is it just that if in AHCI, it will use the MS NVMe Driver (or Samsung NVMe Driver) and if in RAID, it will use the Intel IRST drivers?

I assume if AHCI like I have it, then I can use the Samsung NVMe Driver.  I have read if not in AHCI, the Samsung NVMe Driver will not install.

If I switch to RAID, then I would need to use the Intel Rapid Storage Tech (IRST) Driver and not the samsung driver (I read samsung driver will not install if AHCI).

So I am confused if one is better than the other (AHCI or Raid).

FYI, I have been using for around 10 days and no BSOD due to the PCIe NVMe drive.
