I have an XPS10 tablet with docking unit. For some reason the touchpad is not working on the docking station? Any ideas?
I uninstalled the Synaptics HID Touchpad from the Device manager and refreshed.. it reloaded the same driver and tells me this is the best driver for my device.

Anyone able to help, after shutting computer it wouldn't come back on until I connected the ac adaptor - even when I knew the battery was almost full. Warning came up saying battery temp disabled and turn off computer until temperature returned to normal etc and reset ac adaptor - if continues replace battery, well I waited, plugged it all back in and well didn't work so I replaced battery - same problem, so replaced ac adaptor from Dell, same problem. Thinking its laptop fault or software - anyone had same problem and could suggest something. Feeling a little low as I feel wasted money on items didn't need and it's happened days after warranty ran out on laptop.
Please - anyone any ideas.

My laptop M3050 will not turn on. It beeps 7x. Out of warranty since 8-2013. I have noticed this is a common problem. Please advise.

I had a problem with my screen turning dark at the right bottom corner. On calling Dell Support (Oman) and giving them my service tag they said that the next business day service/parts only warranty expired on April 7, 2013 (starting April 6, 2012). However, I bought the laptop only on September 4, 2012 with a 1 year warranty (still have the sales and customer invoice).Anyone have advice on how to rectify this problem?

Our laptop ( Service Tag:- <Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK>, Model :- Inspiron N5110, Express Service Code:- <Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK>) was originally bought from U.S.A.by my sister Mrs. Bhavna Punatar and gifted to me in April 2012. After around one year and two months, all of sudden the laptop has stopped working..
We contacted Dell India and as per their instruction we made payment of Rs. 10,000 for on-site repairs in India since it was not economically feasible to send the laptop back to USA. We applied for the one time repair service on 26th June 2013 and since then, Dell India have sent their engineers for five times to fix the glitches, but till date, after numerous repeated attempts, all went in vain. We are getting constant follow ups from Dell that it will be repaired in the next attempt, but now we have lost hope. Practically, they have changed all the original parts of our model on a trial and error basis and now we do not even have an idea which parts are original. Therefore we have requested them for replacement of the laptop, but we are not getting any positive reply from them.
It is nearly 7 weeks since the problem occurred and we are facing tremendous loss on business and my daughter's studies which is affecting our day to day operations.
We never expected that a reputed company like Dell having international operations and a large presence in India would fail in giving a proper solution to this problem. It is a limit to our patience and Dell is taking undue advantage of this situation.
We therefore request that a proper action is taken at senior level and our request for replacement is approved.

I have had no luck in displaying the Inspiron 15r display on the HIDef TV using the HDMI cable.
The tech uninstalled the drivers and re-installed them. He then worked with the Bios but I couldn't follow the action to see the results.
The laptop only projected to the TV for two brief moments, during the startup of the laptop following the driver installation and the work on the Bios. . . .
2nd: This is the third such laptop this has happened. Samsung, Toshiba and this Dell. All were Windows 8 and had the Intel 4000. We could not determine the cause of the failure.
Any ideas???
Last night my touchpad wasnt functioning. The left and right buttons wouldnt work at all; all i could do was move the cursor. So I shut it off and turned it on this morning to discover that now the touchpad is working as well as the left button, but the right one isnt working. All this came unexpectedly, and im currently using a usb mouse. This happened to me once about a year ago, but it solved itself as quickly as it manifested. By the way, I'm using windows 7.

I have a XPS 13 (L322X)
I have installed Windows 7 64bit with UEFI on a GPT partition. I have all the drivers for win7 64b on the machine - except USB3 or SM Bus controller. When I add them (through the chipset or usb3 driver) it crashes at the windows logo.
I have tried to install the chipset for win7 (locks up at the windows logo)
I have tried to install win8 chipset (same result)
Turned on/off legacy USB and OPROM
Others I can't remember...like firmware updates to SSD and BIOS
Is there a problem with UEFI and USB3 on Windows 7?

I have a 2013 Dell XPS13. I'm about to trial a BT HH5 which has 802.11ac and 5 gigabits ports. My HTC One has a broadcom ac chip. My Dell 6235 does dual band 802.11n. My question is should I upgrade the wifi card.
I've got the Intel AC 7260 part. The size is PCI Express half mini for 2 antennia, so it will directly replace the existing 6235 card. I've got the Intel 16.05 driver. I'm waiting to get hold of a T5 torx screwdriver on Thursday to open the bottom case.
My question is are there compatibility issues with the dell bios running a9 whatever. It's just I remember Lenovo used to whitelist wifi chips withinn the bios for some Thinkpads, making an upgrade of this impossible without using a hacked bios.
The reason I want 802.11ac is that I plan to get a Synology NAS soon. 802.11n is alright, but without gigabit ethernet, 802.11ac is a major upgrade IMO.

I separated the information with spacebar two times in order to show where every line begins. I'm broke getting this laptop used, repaired and a new adapter. I'm a single father trying to introduce my son to the future of technololgy. I myself thought I can use the laptop to organize and further advance my handyman services that I'm hoping will get my son and I off our feet and off welfare.

I bought a new computer which is a bare computer and the computer doesn't have DVD drive. I want to install operating system of windows7 on my computer with USB. What should I do? thank you
Up until now, my personal machine has never been newer than XP. I also don't think I've ever had a Dell that provided recovery options from a recovery partition on the hard drive - they always used an OS disc, drivers CD, etc. I now have a secondhand Inspiron 1318 (Vista) and an Inspiron 15 (N5040 Win7) and I'm trying to decide which one to keep.
On the 1318, the guy I got it from bought a retail Win7 package to upgrade it but I didn't buy the OS from him. He had formatted the hard drive (so there was no recovery partition remaining) and didn't keep the original discs. So I got a Dell Vista OS CD for the reinstall. My question - if I also found a 1318 with the recovery partition intact, would cloning the drive allow me to return the drive to factory condition with the recovery partition intact (for future recovery) and also allow me to make a set of system recovery discs?
On the N5040, the recovery partition was still present along with some leftover music and documents from the original owner. I first created a set of recovery disks with the included utility and then used F8 to restore it to factory condition from the recovery partition. My question - if I have to use, at some point in the future, the recovery DVDs I made, do they also restore it to factory condition? Or do they include any of the data from the original owner that was present when they were made, whether settings, passwords, files, etc.?

I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen this adapter in stock? I've bought my laptop back in January/Feb and have been checking pretty much every week to purchase another adapter but it always shows out of stock. I can't believe that an item such as this is not stocked for 6 months, especially when they continue to sell new XPS 13's daily. I see it in stock on the US site but it won't allow me to purchase and ship to Canada.

Hi everybody, I just bought a bright and shiny red Dell Inspiron M5110 on Ebay, "For Parts Or Not Working". It came to me with the charger only, no discs, and the reported problem was that in BIOS it showed "No Hard Drive Found". I dismantled it and found that the HDD was broken so I slipped in an Hitachi 320GB, reassembled it and it loaded Windows 7 from another Dell disc in my possession so an hour later it was in working order. However the Wifi/ Ethernet cable and USB ports on both sides do not work so I cannot connect to the Internet but the Bluetooth does work. Using the Bluetooth I flashed the BIOS by transferring A05 from my Desktop but if I try to enter BIOS it requires a System or Administrator password , neither of which I have.
I have stripped it again and rechecked the antenna connections and the I/O board - motherboard connection, removed the CMOS battery but nothing solves this. If the WLAN card is broken I have another from a Dell Studio 1558 - could I replace it with this? However the fact the USB port on the other side is not working suggests it is something to do with the drivers.
So, how can I get a System Password and get the Wifi/USB working?
Please remember any solution cannot involve connecting to the internet though I can send files from my desktop via Bluetooth.
help ! bought an inspiron 1525 about 3 -4 years ago. worked fine. had no trouble till 2 weeks ago. worked on it in bed, was ok. the afternoon i received a message, battery now depleted and needs to be replaced. left it, that night as i say worked with it and was ok with a/c power connected. next morning when i tried to switch it on the lights ran and the battery light came on and it died. pushed button again, same thing but light stayed on but nothing else. no screen no hard drive sound yet i hear the dvd drive and nothing else firstly would the unit go into sleep mode because of the battery or is there something else major wrong like motherboard over heating ? my e-mail is <Admin Note: removed per privacy policy~RK>, can anyone please help me. thank you , mark
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 and it would seem that sometimes after the lid is shut and reopened the screen doesn't always seem to register that its been opened and stays off. What would be the cause of this issue?
