IS there any possibility to disable the touchpad from waking up the laptop from sleep?? I can't find any setting or power menu to stop this, it happened to me twice now.. Felt my back hot and when i opened the backpack the laptop was on.. SO, how can i disable the touchpad from waking up the laptop??
EDIT: Oh, and this menu is not there " Click the Power Management tab and then clear the Allow this device to wake the computer check box."

I just loaded Windows 7 on it

My question is I was going to down load the drivers from another PC,
on to a DVD / CD.
However when I went to the Dell Web site, I was not able to locate the
drivers to
down load.
and Ive checked several times, looking for drivers
under Dell Down loadsn
and I was just going around in circles from the dell down loads,
back to picking the model number, (XPS-14Z)
and then back to the same thing..

Do you actually have to install the drivers directly from the
web site to the actual computer?

Been having some issues with Win10 on this computer. Everyday the i get a notif on the display crashing and starting over, the webcam don't work anymore after checking for updates and/or unistalling drivers etc.. and there are a few more minor buggy things that go on.
IMO Win7 is far more stable but i don't want to change the OS unless i'm certain all the drivers for this series are compatable with Win7. Is there anyone out there who knows if this can work or hv indeed installed Win7 on a unit like this? Pls let me know :/
We have a new Latitude E5550 that I'm trying to boot with a Winpe 32bit disk; it starts loading winpe but then errors with
File: \windows\system32\drivers\megasas.sys
Status: 0xC000035a
Info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing or corrupt
I've downloaded the winpe driver pack and used Windows AIK tools to install the drivers to the winpe boot disk, and confirmed that the megasas2.sys driver is there. I've done this procedure twice to make sure it wasn't corrupted.
The BIOS came with SATA Operation set to RAID, I changed it to AHCI, neither one works.
This boot disk has worked with all other models of Dell computers (we have a lot).
Can anyone give me some ideas?

After trying to find something on this, I finally come to the forum seeking for help.
I still couldn't isolate the problem, it just happens randomly.
Sometimes, I'm using the computer for a long time, sometimes I just started it.
What happens is that the mouse pointer moves to the corners and gets stuck there, no matter what I do. Sometimes, I try to move the mouse and I can even see the pointer twice.
It just gets impossible to keep using the computer. The mouse pointer stays there and sometimes it clicks with both left and right button.
This happens wheter or not I use an external mouse.
Any ideas of what could be doing this? I tried running all test now on Dell and it says nothing is wrong with my touchscreen, keyboard or mouse.
Please let me know if I was clear. I can even make a video next time it happens.
I'm using Windows 8.1 and have a Inspiron 15z 5523.

I have a Dell Latitude E6530 which I want to upgrade the 1GB nvidia nvs graphics card to at least a 4GB (for maximum gaming performance). I have since learnt that in order to do this I would need to change my motherboard. Could you inform me on which motherboard I would need and the corresponding graphics card (especially for maximum gaming performance)
I have a Dell XPS 15 9550 Windows Signature edition (4K screen, intel i7 etc.) and have had some screen flickering problems since day one. I've updated the drivers/bios frequently, and while there has definitely been an improvement (90% of the time there is no issue and the computer works really well) I am still experiencing the occasional screen flicker with the white/black lines cutting across the screen.
Even more odd is that, in certain classrooms at my university, for whatever reason, the screen almost immediately stops functioning. No other computer in the classroom has this issue. I will turn on the computer and log in, the screen will flicker several times as I try to open applications before completely going black. After restarting the computer in the same location, the same thing happens and the computer is unable to function until I leave the room.
Any ideas whether this is hardware or software related and what some possible solutions could be? Thanks in advance for your help!
Bought a Dell e5550 laptop today and when i started using it turned out it only had liteon LCH-128v2s-11 2.5 7mm 128gb hard drive in it. I payed for computer that had 500gb hard drive and this is what i get. Im pretty mad to be honest. Last dell in this company.
System ( inspiron 15 with win 8 )gets to 24% and then gives me the error 0x4001100200001005 during recovery process. This is the original factory HD. I basically have had system since 2013 and decided I wanted to do a clean install before upgrading to windows 10.

I've been getting that since I bought my Dell XPX 9530. After numerous Dell techs taking control of the PC; sending it back to Dell and two in-house Dell tech visits. I no longer get the message (Yea). But now my screen doesn't turn off; the PC overheats; the fan runs constantly; they have removed hardware, I've lost memory and get new error messages.
I'm now dealing with "Dell Corporate" and they are a joke. Turns out: Dell knew about this issue and they have stalled until my PC was almost out of warranty. Their solution is to revert back to Windows 8 (my XPS cannot run Windows 10) and they cannot guarantee backward compatibility to MS Office.
I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND OR BUY A DELL. THE COMPANY HAS NO HONOR. They stalled intentionally about an issue they knew about.

Is it possible since windows upgrade to update sd reader to see disks. It appears that Dell will not do anything that will enable sd disks to be seen in windows 10 on a Inspiron N5110. Can anyone help?
I have an I5 3521 that intermittently will not turn on. push button, indicator turns on but screen doesn't come on. It just makes popping out of speakers. sometimes if you remove battery and reinstall it will start other times if you keep trying power button on and off it will start and work fine. it is about 2 years old
I currently have a new dell xps 13 9350 and a 180w TB15 dock. I have two external 4k monitors plugged in and when i have the monitors and the laptop screen running it causes many issues. The screens flicker and then eventually turn off. is this an issue with the dock? does it support two 4k screens and the laptop screen? is there a fix for this? I have updated to all the latest bios, drivers firmware etc.
Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me with this. The issue is 2 fold.
The end goal, is to get WIDI working. According to the intel site my machine is compatible, processor is compatible, GFX card is compatible etc, the compatibility tool runs and confirms this, but when I try to install the software it tells me my machine is not compatible.
So, the first thing that comes to mind in this situation is - lets update the drivers. So I head on over to the Intel website and download them.
I've tried installing both from the update tool and downloading the exe file, but each time I have the same problem. Install drivers (15.33 for display and 18.1 for network card), reboot, look into device manager at the driver versions and oh its still reading the old version drivers as if it hasn't updated and I don't know why.
I've always built my own systems and so, never encountered this type of issue - i presume its some sort of lock Dell have put on the machine - and I dont know how to solve it.
The system is well outside warranty so I'd like control over how and what I update if possible....
Any ideas guys?

On the Dell sales page for the E5570 the Thunderbolt 3 port is shown as being available in "Winter 2016". When I asked a CSR on the Dell chat when it would actually be available they said it already is on the E5570 and the comment on the page meant the dock would be available in the winter.
So, if you have bought an E5570, does it have the Thunderbolt 3 port?

I've owned by dell n5010 for about a year ago after buying it used and faulty with a broken fan, I replaced the fan with the cheapest one I could get on eBay. However, not I have spare money I'd like to replace the noisy, vibrating, inefficient pile of junk that's in it, but for the life of me, I cannot remember what brands they ship with or what brand is the best to use with the laptop.

Which Dell laptop models support UEFI?
I recently purchased an XPS 15 9550 and I need middle mouse click in some of my applications. Under touchpad settings, It only allows mapping 3-finger click to Cortana or Activity Center. Does anyone know how I can get the touchpad to send a middle mouse click to my applications? On previous laptops I have owned, they typically included a Synaptics touchpad, which always made it easy to perform this mapping using a 3-finger click, but it seems like Dell has included something custom and no such options appear to be available. Any help would be appreciated.
