Hi,

This may be more of a Windows problem, but I've had some good advice here before.

After waking up from sleep, my Inspiron 7720 (17R SE) automatically reboots when on battery power. I can unlock my laptop, move the mouse on my desktop for a few seconds, but then the fan starts becoming loud, the mouse pointer disappears, and it decides to restart.

This started happening after one of the Windows 10 updates( not sure which one).

I updated all my drivers and BIOS, didn't help.

I actually had this problem when on AC power too, but it stopped happening. Not sure what fixed it exactly; I changed the sleep settings so that might be it, but when I restored the defaults for my power plan, the problem didn't come back.

I was looking at the order that the drivers are installed for Inspiron 1545 laptop, first on the list is Dell system software or system utilities. I then went to the the support page where all the drivers were listed. My question is the system utilities that the list mentions, and the diagnostic software that is in the list of drivers, are they the same, or am I missing something. If they are not the same where do I find the system utilities software that I can download.

Hello all,

Guess...all that's left with DELL is just its name alongside one of worst Laptop qualities and a third graded customer care facility.

I would like to bring to your notice the poor service provided by Dell.

We purchased a Dell Inspiron 3000 series laptop nearly 6 months back. The laptop started having lots of technical difficulties in only few months time.

In 2-3 months times, due to technical difficulties the Key board and touch screen were changed...Nearly after another 2-3 months the same issue started happening and this time touch screen and keyboard was repaired. To add to its quality, just a few days later further technical difficulties arises and they had to change the complete motherboard.

In short, after every 2 months or so some hardware problem kept on arising. Being aware of their customer friendly nature, which is merely a saying, I requested to them have our Laptop changed as it does not make any sense of getting hardware replaced in every 2 months with a waiting period of 2-3 weeks. As post free service period of 1 year, if this issue continues we would end up paying a huge amount every month which technical and financially does not make any sense.

The answer to my query from Dell was, we have closed your issue and cannot do anything, please take your laptop. To be honest, I was amazed by their response and lack of responsibility. I must appreciate that DELL undoubtedly has one of the most rudest and unfriendly Customer Service.

Hello. I've got a brand new Inspiron traveller 3147. For some reason the display screen has shrunk so I now have a black border of about 2cm running right around the screen. I've checked the resolution and everything is as it should be. No idea what to do now so any tips will be gratefully appreciated.

I log a dell 3543 laptop with ubuntu and I install Windows 7 64 bit on it. I got driver from dell site. I installed all drivers other than bios update. Laptop was working fine. At last I installed the bios update with laptop plugged into power. It installed fine. But after that Windows stuck just before login prompt. I can log in from safe mode though. I reinstalled windows 7 but problem still remain. Please tell me how to fix this. I wouldn't mind rolling back bios too.

When laptop is powered off only and ac is then plugged in - won't power on - battery led flashes alternating red/white (not amber) and fans stay on high indefinitely for unknown reason.
Otherwise starts on battery alone and restarts fine and runs normally, even if ac is plugged in afterwards.
ALL online Dell Diagnostics passed. Not sure if it's CMOS battery, 240W ac adapter or  motherboard power circuit.

So must always cold start on battery and then will work normally and charge battery on ac afterwards.

Also after cold boot on battery the b/w info screen pops up stating that the service tag is not loaded and the utility will start and gives F1/F2/F5 options list.

BIOS is updated to A16, running Win7 Pro 64 off the mSata SSD but did the same off the standard 2.5" HDD.

So what is going on, please?

Hello,

My laptop is continuously restarting when i start it. 

example: i clicked on the power button, dell home page appears(DELL logo with F2 and F12 page) than its restarting continuously, i did diagnostic run and no error code and its stating that No errors.  

i have inserted the pendrive to install Windows7, it is able to take it...

Please Reply ASAP

I purchased this laptop in March 2015 and started facing issues right from the beginning. For the past whole year I have been dealing with problems with my touch pad. There was erratic movement after which the multi finger gestures stop working. I have been back and forth with the tech support and they have done a lot to fix the issue starting with replacing the drivers, a system reset, OS re-installation, replacing the touch pad TWICE, and then replacing the mother board too. Still the issue continues. And now it has thrown up a new fit. Twice in a week's time a blue screen has popped up with an error message "page fault in non paged area". After this one of the speakers has stopped working. The Dell tech support team is very helpful whenever we reach out to them. However, I have completely lost faith in the quality of their product. I am now desperately trying to get some kind of resolution to my problems. If anyone has any idea how I can reach the right people, please help me out here.

Hi,

My laptop before 2 months started (after I did some updates) to do this:

I was surfing at the Internet using Mozilla Firefox when a black screen apeared and a message poped up saying "The display driver Intel HD Graphics Drivers for Windows 8 (R) stopped responding and recovered successfully"

This happens 2-3 times per hour only when I am browsing the Internet.

I have Windows 10 and my laptop is 6 months old...

I have a Dell Studio XPS 17 upgraded to Windows 10 and it's been fine for a while but today I went to restart it and it comes up saying PXE-E61: Media test failure check cable so I ran the diagnostics and it's giving me error code: 2000-0146 I read online to reset the BIOS and to remove and reinstall the hard drive I tried both and it's still doing the same thing. Any suggestions? TIA

Drivers under my Tag all refer to I5 and none to i7, under Product . is it OK to use them. Why doesnt it show what we have already downloaded in our list. i have replaced the HD with a 1TB SSD

Hi All,

I am using an older Inspiron 6400. I have just started using Ubuntu as Windows 7 and later are having trouble with the Radeon video card. Up until the moment I installed Ubuntu 14.0.4 the broadcom minilan card was working properly, now nothing. I have tried to use the fn - f2 combination but it gets me nowhere.  Is there another way to activate the wireless card and use Ubuntu or on the other side of this is there a way to get more recent versions of Windows (the inspiron came with XP) to play nice with the Radeon video card.

I recently purchased a Dell inspiron Laptop, and it makes a high pitched "whirring" kind of sound throughout use.  I would like to make the noise stop if possible, and my surveying of the forums hasn't yet found a fix that works!  Any help appreciated.

Hello,

I own a Dell Studio XPS 1645 that is powered by the 130W adaptor. My original unit's model is PA4E.

The unit that the seller sent me looks like the one in the attached image. It does not even bare the PA4E model. It's made by Lite-on and appears to be just a compatible alternative. The body feels less solid and does not have the 'DELL' logo embossed on the front.

Is this a genuine unit? It was listed as a Genuine Original charger model PA4E.

My LAN connection on the Ethernet port is flapping intermittently, but frequently.  (about once per minute, sometimes more - sometimes less)  I've tried different network cables and different wall ports.  I've tried unplugging and re-plugging both the cords and the adapter itself.  I also have VGA running off the adapter but that's NOT cutting out like the LAN is.  This is a brand new adapter out of the box today.  I used to have a USB-C to Ethernet adapter and that also had the issue until the early February BIOS update.  The BIOS update seemed to fix the issue, but now it's back on this new adapter.  Nothing in the Windows 10 event viewer, either.  I appreciate any feedback, suggestions or input.

The TB15 doesn't seem to work on linux (precision 5510) - it freezes. Based on the spec sheet, I bought the dock thinking it would work with my linux system. Do you have instructions for getting it to work with linux? I'm currently running a 4.4 kernel on a fedora based install on my precision 5510. Love the laptop but might need to send the dock back if I can't get it working.

My Dell Inspiron has been working great until today.  When I press the power button, it beeps 3 times and keep repeating the same pattern.  Screen is dark.  I've reseat the memory modules, tried with only 1 memory...etc.  No luck.

Please advise!

My Dell Laptop broke.  It just powered down and never turned back on.  I can't get my serial number off the back because it "rubbed off".  My last day of the warranty is today, 3/4/2015.  It won't power on so that I can check the bios and it has rubbed off.  The store says they can't even send it in because the serial number is the required.  Why have you made such defective serial number tags?  So that you can avoid honoring the warranty of your products?  I just want a working computer.  What do I do?

I cant find out how to do it
i have newest bios (v14) and saw option "XD" [different sources says thats DEP or 2cpu management] and set it to disabled and thats nothing changed the same situation when i combinating with BCEDIT and standard advanced menu in my computer and its always TRUE value in console when check it , i also tried set settings from windows with CLI>BIOS but i cant find any clue how set parameters 
there's any option to change DEP to disabled from CPU/UEFI/BIOS/MOTHERBOARD ?

or at least i had to download similar AMI BIOS and manual modify and risk break my device?
