I bought my Dell Inspiron 10z 1120 back in 2011. Warranty expried ages ago.
A month ago when I tried turning it on, the screen remained black but it kept beeping. 7 times. After some research, it is either a CPU or motherboard failure. I tried the donna method to temporary reboot my laptop but it just stays on the login screen. I cannot actually access my files.
Apparently this is a known problem for this model. Is it worth fixing it or just get my data backed up and get a new unit?
Thanks
Hi,
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 which frequently has problems where it will suddenly crash go to a black screen. It will almost turn off except the bluetooth light which will always turn on after the computer crashes.
I want to fix this problem so that I am able to use the laptop again.
Thanks

I have successfully installed Windows 10 on my Latitude E6230 i5 including Dell commander, control vault with Fingerprint swipe sensor and support assistance and all recommended Drivers from the DELL website etc
However the fingerprint swipe sensor still does not work.
In device drivers there is a warning triangle and Windows Hello does not recognise it.
Any help would be appreciated
Good day!
I'd been googling the problems of my laptop for the last 6 days and I cant find any solution at all and this prompts me to join your forum.
Problem:
1. When I plugin the ac adapter and turn on the power button there's no sign of life at all except for the 2 blinks light from the battery indicator.
2. Fan not spinning.
3. Hdd and dvd not spinning.
Action taken:
1. Check the output of ac adapter via multimeter and it register 19.6 volts.
2. Check the harness dc jack output to the motherboard 19.6 volts.
3. Remove the mobo from the case and detached everything connected from it and repeated step 1 with only cpu, fan and ram connected.
4.clean the fan, reapply thermal paste to cpu and clean gpu.
5. Replaced ram with known good ram and test on 2 ram slots.
6. Replaced cmos battery
7. Hard reset trick and repeated thrice or more.
8 check the continuity of power button cable, ok.
After doing the above steps i cant still figure it out what seems to be the problem with my laptop.
I really love try to test on the chipset level but i dont know which chipset should i check. I would appreciate it very much a prompt reply from you guys. Thank you
I have a two month old Dell XPS 15 (9550) with Windows 10 (all updates). I received another "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has recovered" message today. In both cases it occurred when I was horizontally scrolling with the arrow key from my Bluetooth keyboard on a line in a text file loaded in my text editor. I have the latest Intel HD Graphics 530 driver (v20.19.15.4331) installed. I don't know if this is a Bluetooth or Intel Graphics driver issue but I suspect the latter?
Thanks,
JohnD
I was reading though a old post and it sounded like there is a way around a locked BIOS password? There are some on eBay for a good price. Is that something if I buy them I could get help resolving that like same day? Also is there a charge?
When my laptop is closed the power light blinks twice orange the seven times white. Last night it didn't start for several hours but then when I got home it booted correctly but the light was still blinking and has been all night long. I can't find anything to tell me what the problem is.
Após o Upgrade do meu XPS 15 L502X o leitor de cartões SD parou de funcionar e não consigo fazer download do driver para executá-lo em modo "Solucionar problemas de compatibilidade".
I am in need of a laptop that will handle two monitors, camera, and printer, any suggestions

I bought this laptop used in December. It seems to be in outstanding cosmetic condition and working condition. I replaced the hard disk drive with a much larger one. I bought 8 GB of RAM, to replace the 4 GB it has now. When I went to loosed the Captive Screw on the Access Panel, I had no luck. Possibly/Probably when I began trying, the head was already stripped. My wife (she's very mechanical) also tried this. We both agree that the head is stripped and the Captive Screw is not moving. This is an issue I'd never run into before (we have 6 Dell laptops and a Dell Micro Tower in the house). I am going to pray that someone here (Customer or Dell Employee) can tell me what we need to do to get the Access Panel off the laptop. Thank you in advance, for your time and your help, which we greatly appreciate!
Some apps are shown with enlarged pixels, others have misplaced controls (icons, buttons, etc.).
There is no general rule and it seems impossible to modify this behvior
I have an XPS13, brand new. Sometimes the screen goes black for no reason, and then a second or two later I get a message saying that the display driver has recovered. Everything will then come back up as it was before the screen went black. Pretty unnerving - what if it doesn't come back??
I have Windows10 and nothing weird or unusual on the laptop, no games or anything that uses lots of graphics.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you
Susan
Hey!
I own a Dell XPS 15 9550 (i5 version) and I'd like to swap out the 32GB SSD cache with a 256GB SSD (which should NOT be used as a cache). In order to achieve this I guess I have to change the sata mode in the bios to AHCI instead of RAID (Intel Rapid Storage Technology). How do I get rid of Intel RST and change the sata mode to AHCI safely so I can use the SSD as a normal drive instead of a cache? As I said I want to plug a different SSD into the M.2 slot.
I'd really appreciate some help since I don't really have any experiences with something like this :D
I was looking for a new laptop for my parents. Can anyone tell me if the vostro-15-3559 comes with a backlit keyboard? The specs are silent. The manual is silent. The quick-start guide says "optional." The pictures kind-of look like it does and show the related FN key to turn it on. Dell sales said no (from the specs).
Would love a more definitive answer if anyone actually has one. The exact model I was looking at is

I can no longer connect my laptop to my HDTV. The slot itself is no longer working. My HDMI chords work on my desktop, not my laptop. Any suggestions?
