I have an unknown device in my device manager; ACPI\SMO8810\1  I believe this is the ST Microelectronics Motion Sensor.

I am now on Windows 10 (this thing was originally on 8), and the drivers under my product support will not install.  Does Dell have a version that will work with Windows 10?

Hi everyone,

I am new to the community.

I have some questions to ask regarding the Dell XPS 13 2015.

Is the non-touch version battery life better than the touch-version?

What if I disable the touch for the laptop? WIll the battery life be the same then? :)

M6600 Windows 10 Track Pad Delay

Hello all, hoping some one could help me out with an issue I have with a Precision M6600 running Windows 10.  The issue at hand is the track pad is slow to respond like 5-10 seconds when you try to move the cursor. When previously on Win 7 this was never an issue until the Win10 upgrade.

Yes, I know Dell does not support Win10 on the M6600 but wanted to see if any one else had this issue and found a resolution to it.

Dell Latitude E6510 WOL - Wake On Lan

I have scoured the internet looking for more solutions to my problem to no avail.  I can not get these Latitudes to "wake up" using magic packets.

The total run down of the details are as follows.  I am using Windows Server 2008 R2 to send the magic packets using a WOL utility from Aquila Technology (freeware).  The server is running on a VMware ESX Hypervisor.

I have one laptop that I use for testing, it is on the same VLAN, different switch as the server (besides the VSWITCH).  The BIOS revision on this laptop is A10 (A16 being the newest).  When I send packets, the TEST CLIENT powers on and works correctly, no issues.

I started to test it on other clients, which at first were on a different VLAN.  I configured my CISCO router to enable IP directed broadcast.  I could not get the machines to wake.

I fired up Wireshark, and started sending wake up packets.  For the client that is on the same VLAN as the server, I get a proper source ip (10.40.0.63/24) and a proper broadcast (10.40.0.255).  That machine wakes up.  When sending to my other VLAN I see wireshark with a source ip of 10.40.0.63 and a destination ip of 10.20.0.255, which again is correct.  So, I am seeing the broadcast packets travel across the network properly, they are being received by the machines, but they won't power on.

I then moved one of the non-functioning laptops over to the server VLAN and began sending WOL packets, again, wireshark shows the packets traversing the network properly, but the machine still will not power on.

I have seen several posts about turning off "Deep Sleep", and that isn't even an option on these machines.  I have also turned of the Intel Speed Step technology.  My NIC lights are lit, so I know the NIC is active, but I still can not seem to get it to boot.  The non-waking machines all have the newest BIOS (A16), so I flashed one back to A10, still no luck.  The only thing that I can see different between the two clients are BIOS revision (which didn't work), Boot Sequence, and Setup Password.

If anyone has any clue as to what I should look at, I would love some new ideas.

3147-A09 Bios awful

Upgraded 3147 to A09 Bios and found I could not wake it from sleep. Had to hold and press power button repeatedly and it would finally do a restart. Then tried to install Dell Backup and Recovery and it would not install. Complained about no Windows recovery environment although I could see it! Based on other comments I back the Bios down to A07. Although I had to run the install program 3x times before it worked and I also had to restart the computer several times because it said I had no bootable device and I had to go into set up and save bios changes twice and then I had to do a Safe Mode start before it would boot into windows correctly, in the end I have a computer that when asleep, I hit the poser button once and it wakes- Yea- and I could install Dell B&R now. So why did Dell release this Bios update. IT SCREWS UP THE COMPUTER.

Problem Is Finding Boot Sequence in changing Boot Order in Inspiron 15 7000 series

I am having problem in changing my boot order of my Inspiron 15 7000 series.  The lapto just have a hard drive and USB ports.  The OS is Win 8.1 home.

I want the computer to check the USB ports first then boot from the hard drive.

Is it possible that is the default setting from Dell??

I tried F12 after startup when the dell logo appears.   I do see the Bios showing up, but I don't recognize anything that looks like the Boot Sequence there.

Can someone please help.

An USB 2.0 certified device attached to a 3.0 port not being recognized after OS restarting

I own a Dell Inspiron 13 7000 (7348) computer already updated to the latest A08 BIOS. There's a problem if a given USB device. Although it's not certified for USB 3.0, it works ok unless it's not recognized after an OS restart, so I have to disconnect and reconnect it physically to the USB port. When I turn USB debug mode on on laptop BIOS setup, which turns all 3.0 ports into 2.0 ones, the problem does not occur anymore, but of course I loose the useful 3.0 bandwidth. Since this does not occur with another computer, someone can speculate that there would be room for some BIOS improvement to avoid this problem. It seems the Dell does not turn the USB device completely off while restarting OS.

I would be grateful if someone could forward this case to the BIOS development team.
