Dell inspiron 1525 2008 model replacement hard disk
Hi,
The hard disk of my dell inspiron 1525 has been malfunctioning and I am looking for a replacement disk. While searching for the hard disk I could find there are 2 types of 2.5 inch SATA hard disk available
1, height 9mm
2. height 7.5 mm
Can anyone confirm which one will fit my laptop ?

Samsung SSD 850 EVO with Inspiton N5010, problems! pls help!
I have tried to install SSD to my DELL INSPIRON N5010, (this is with i5 and 500 GB HDD), the notebook starts and turns off after 10 seconds, it doesn't meter i am in BIOS or just checking stuff in windows! :\ fan goes really fast and then notebook turns off!
Then i inserted old 500 HDD and it works fine...
could u pls help me with this? maybe BIOS update helps or something?

Latitude ST T02G Windows 10 Touch screen
I have just acquired a Latitude ST T02G and decided to upgrade it to windows 10. I know that Dell is not supporting this device with windows 10. I got it installed and everything was working correctly for a bit. I went tot restart it for some windows updates and once it came back the touch screen stopped working. I cannot seem to find the driver (even for windows 8). When I check in the device manager I do not even show a device for the touch screen. I know that there are windows 8 drivers from the company that made the device Motion Computing CL900 but it doesn't seem to have the driver either.

According to DELL the Adapter is compatible to XPS 12 and XPS 15.
Is the Adapter compatible to XPS 13 also ?????

Hi, I hope somebody can help me with this problem. I'm getting an error code after running diagnostic:
Error code: 2000 0142
Validation: 105819
Msg: Hard drive 0 - S/N S2WZJ90D494088, short self test unsuccessful.
I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 5521 that I bought about three years ago. These past couple of months it had been really slow in general, so I formatted the laptop and started to install software again.
However, after updating windows and installing Office 365, it became slow again, had trouble booting up, and couldn't open any office file because the laptop would freeze. I uninstalled Office 365 and ran disk scan with AVG TuneUp, but it froze at 27% for like 20 hours. I had a hard time booting again since everytime I did it, the disk scan would start and freeze again.
Yesterday things seemed to be back to normal after uninstalling Office 365, but when I ran diagnostic, the 2000 0142 error came up.
I've read that my hard drive is probably messed up :( but the laptop works fine except for office. Is there a way I could fix this without having to buy another hard drive?

Touchpad Driver for XPS M1330
Dell forum,
I have a Dell XPS M1330 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64. I can't
find a touchpad driver that will allow me to turn off tapping.
I have downloaded and installed the most recent Dell and Synaptics
drivers but even if they give me the option to turn it off it still
is enabled at the touchpad.
Any suggestions?

Numeric keypad not working on laptop or external
My Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series numeric keypad isn't working. I've attached an external one and the numeric keypad doesn't work on it either. What has happened and what can I change? Where is the notification that NumLock is on or off or is mine broken?

"EDock port" & "Optional Edocking connector": Same or different?
So I'm looking for a laptop and found one model with the term "Optional Edocking connector", and another model with the term "EDock port". According to a "Dell expert" (in India), they are the same. His exact words are ""Both are same.. there is no difference in this". The different wording is because "That is just another meaning of this feature to connect docks". Can someone elaborate on this? Cannot update bios Dell Latitude E6230
Hello Guys,
I have tried to update bios for the Dell E6230, currently it's A06 and i want to update to the latest available one that is A15. I managed to update both via WIndows and USB DOS, i execute the E6230A15.exe, it says "preparing update" then reboot but it booted to WIndows rather than update the bios which i see on the Internet. i tried to update A09 but still same issue.
The installer launches correctly and displays the current version, the update versions and reboots the system afterwards.
Bit the BIOS version remains A06.
- BIOS was reset to default setting: no luck
- update to A08/09 instead of directly to A15: No luck
- Install both via Windows and USB key has same behaviors
I have no idea where to start troubleshooting.
Any hints?

Inspiron 3531 laptop: both service & express tags rubbed off and screen is black
Hi, My laptop's screen would not come on, even though the computer itself was audibly on. Then, when I took out the battery and put it back in to see if that would do anything, the computer wouldn't turn on at all. It then started beeping 7 times over & over, and would only stop when I took out the battery again.
Both my service tag and express tag are scratched off. My warranty expired 2 months ago (I bought it 1 year and 2 months ago). I really need some help as to what to do next.

Inspirion 3542 laptop sleep issues
Every time my Inspirion 3542 laptop goes to sleep I have to press the power button to shut it down and turn it on again. I've heard this had something to do with the motherboard but if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated. I'd like a fix not a work around if I can help it. I've updated BIOs and all the drivers.

Has an issue with my laptop..
I have an Inspiron 11 3000 series laptop. I just experienced my laptop having a black screen just after I turned it on. No clicking or beeping sounds. My AC adapter is also fine. I tried a long press on the power button a few minutes afterwards and the laptop turned on. As if nothing ever happened. What do you guys think the problem was?

I'm looking forward to Clean Install Windows 10 on my laptop but I do had many questions.

since I received my laptop I had been walk through many steps just for learning some things about the machine itself and right now I'm looking forward to completely setup it from A TO Z.
I did purchased Windows 10 Pro from microsoftstore.com and I did installed windows media creation tool but upon checking the windows category list I hadn't found windows 10 Pro so I contacted Microsoft and they informed me that the list is not showing windows 10 Pro anymore and that I need to install Windows 10 and once I get inside the system so I can update it using the product key to Windows 10 Pro. so by anyway I had used media creation tool and I did already placed windows 10 on the USB.
So right now I need to know the correct configuration for BIOS before I start the installation for the windows.
before if I pressed F2 And then pressed on restore defaults so I was do see 2 options ( BIOS Defaults and Factory Settings )

so how can I delete the ( custom user settings option ) ?? I did tried with upgrading / downgrading and reset bios defaults/ factory settings but doesn't deleted the customer user settings !

and I need to know which one I should choose to reset the bios as Dell configured it. ( bios defaults or factory settings ) because I read on internet that each option apply different settings. also I noticed that there's some options that the reset doesn't make sense for it which is left for user to manually configure them such as boot sequence, advanced boot options, sata operation, drives and secure boot ! are I'm correct or there's another things which reset defaults doesn't make sense for ? and please tell me what is the default configuration as dell was apply for them.
and the second point is
right now if I pressed F12 and logged into device configuration which will pop up for me intel rapid storage technology is currently not configured ( look the photo and please tell me the correct default configuration should be what as dell was apply before .

XPS 15 9550 Constant Dirty Keyboard Keys = worn out looking keyboard
Hello! This is my first Dell laptop. I've had this XPS 15 9550, for about 1 /12 months now. I've found nearly none of the common issues that I had read about in the past. The unit is very solid and all the keys work well and everything is properly aligned. What I have noticed is that my keys seem to always be dirty. When I look at the keyboard, mostly during the day, the keys have a coating over them. My hands are always clean and I really do not understand this. It's as if they keys are missing a coat of paint or something. They are like a matte finish when the daylight from my office window hits them. I can use a mild soap and cotton face pads to clean the keys. All will look good and then hours later I'm back to the same thing. It bothers me because when the keys get like this, they look worn out, like my old 8-year old Sony Vaio keyboard. Is this just me or does anyone else know what I mean? I also have a Samsung Book 9 and I do not have this issue with is as the keys always look jet black and shiny. I do use hand lotion daily but my hands are always dry and the carbon fiber deck of the XPS, remains clean without getting dirty/greasy.
