XPS 15 (9550) - Throttle GPU on AC

$

Hey,

When I'm playing a game on battery I notice the GPU is being throttled, which is great (lower temperature)! However, when the laptop is charging, the GPU is going full power and will quickly rise to hot temperatures (note: I do not change any graphical settings of the game when on AC).

So, is it possible to throttle the GPU on AC? If so, how?

Thank you!

Why are XPS 15 accessories released in USA but not Canada?

It looks like all of the important accessories for the Dell XPS 15 are released in the US as of January 2016, but all of them show "Coming Soon" for Canada.

Dock, Monitor, Sleeve

What's going on with this? Why would you release to only USA? Usually things release for North America as a whole... It makes no sense to provide these products for USA only, when everything I buy from Dell comes from the USA anyway!

Do Americans get a EXCLUSIVE release of all Dell products first before everyone else?

I would really appreciate an answer from a Dell representative on this one. When you call Customer Service, they are not really Dell employees and none of them know anything about this. They are all in India or Malaysia and always refer to Dell as a third part, like "We don't know when THEY will release this in Canada."

I really want an answer from someone that works @ Dell!

So. I own a Dell Inspiron 1525. I want to get an intel core i7 and replace the old processor in my Laptop. I also want to get a Nvidia graphics card to have in it. I really love the shape of the Inspiron 1525 so I only want to get rid of it as a lat resort. I also want to now that if it wouldn't work out, what computer I should get. I want it for gaming. My laptop just can't handle games these days.[:D]

E6530 Win10 64b - Intel management engine interface Code 10

Hi, I recently updated my laptop by installing an SSD and also upgrading to Win10 64b.

Ever since, I cannot make Intel management engine interface to operate. It always fail with

code 10 (power failure). I have tried every single driver, even tried new drivers from intel

site. This problem also seems to be related with system restart (system hangs at Dell

Logo during startup). Any ideas?

All drivers and Bios is up to date.

Thank you!

XPS 15 9550 - Can I clone the recovery partition from the HDD to a new MSATA SSD?

My new XPS came with a 1TB SSD and the 32GB SSD.  I want to remove both the HDD and SSD and just install a new 500 GB MSATA drive.  Reading around online, it sounds like people have issues copying Dell's recovery partition over to new drives.  Ideally, I would like the new MSATA SSD to be a perfect copy of the factory drive I got from Dell, including the recovery partition, so I can restore as I normally would with the original drive from Dell.  Is this currently possible?  I spoke with a colleague who does this sort of thing for a living and he mentioned off-hand that the data migration software the comes with Samsung SSDs can definitely clone the recovery partition over, but does anyone know if this will work for sure?

I really don't want to lose the recovery partition.

Poderiam me ajudar nesse caso?

I have inherited an precision m4600 with a Seagate st9500423as hard disk. it has 3 partitions on it, a 168 gb c, a 40 mb, and a 298gb system reserved partition.  I know what system reserved partitions are normally used for but have never seen one close to 300 gb in size.  It also has a control vault device.  Is that some kind of bit locker type encrypted partition?  Feel like a newbie here, but maybe just some tech I have not seen yet.  Any help or insight greatly appreciated

Installing Windows 7 Pro x64 on XPS 13 9350 Samsung PM951 NVMe

I'm reading mixed messages when installing Windows 7 on the Samsung PM951 NVMe M.2 drive. Under SATA Operation should RAID be selected or AHCI?

I have already copied my Windows 7 x64 ISO to USB using Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool found here, http://wudt.codeplex.com/

I have already integrated USB 3.0 support by installing Windows 7 USB 3.0 Creator Utility from here, downloadcenter.intel.com/.../Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility

I have downloaded Samsung NVMe driver v1.4.7.17 WHQL f6 drivers from here, www.win-raid.com/t29f25-Recommended-AHCI-RAID-and-NVMe-Drivers.html

My Windows 7 installation now sees the PM951 drive, but I want to be sure before I proceed with the installation if SATA needs to be on RAID or AHCI.

Thanks in advance!

Dell Inspiron 3148/3158 PXE Boot

Hi,

We have just received two new dell model laptops as parts for an older model are no longer available. We have been trying to image the devices off WDS. We have tried using both legacy and uefi boot options but neither has worked. There doesn't seem to be a uefi boot option for network boot. When trying to run the legacy boot option with secure boot off it just sits there and does nothing.

The bios versions are

Inspiron 3158: 01.00.00 or 01.05.00

Inspiron 3148: A06 or A07

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Weird sound coming from video card fan? Maybe?

The sound started randomly while working in Adobe After Effects. This is an Inspiron 7548 that should be able to handle the workload of working with After Effects. I did have a hard drive crash in November and Dell provided a replacement less than a month ago. Is this another hard drive issue or is it a separate issue? Thank you internet people!(Please visit the site to view this video)

Win10 Installation: "We couldn't find any drives. To get a storage driver, click Load driver."

Hello,

I have bought a laptop model XPS 13 9350. It came with preinstalled Win10 Home Edition but i need Pro.

I get into the Windows Setup screen but at custom installation it doesnt see the drive or existing partitions and i get the message "We couldn't find any drives. To get a storage driver, click Load driver". I wasnt able to find such a driver and i have no instalation media.

In BIOS i have disabled "Secure Boot" and enabled "Legacy Option ROMs" in order to be able to boot from a USB stick since this model, being slim, dropped the CD/DvD drive bay. I have also tried to update it from Windows and introduce the new key ive got but i get the message it can't....

Any tips will be much apreciated.

Best regards,

Adrian

It was the sata configuration on raid to blame, switched to AHCI and it worked.

Dell UltraSharp U2713H keeps turning off

Hello,

I bought a monitor for my laptop (Dell UltraSharp U2713H) a year ago. It’s been working fine so far, but keeps turning off for no reason.

It turns off as if it had no more power and I have to press the power button (on the screen) to start it again.
This happens around 4 times a day on its own, and everytime sometimes plugs a device on the same socket.
It’s almost as if the cable is too sensitive?

I am using a Macbook Pro and a HDMI connection.
I have changed all cables for new ones.

What should I do?
Thank you,
Sophie

Inspiron 7559 SODIMM slots

Hi,

I'm looking at the following Inspiron 15 7000 models CN95710, CN95711 and CN95712.

I'd ideally like the CN95710 and then upgrade the memory to 16gb at a later data. However I'm told via live chat that this model only has 1 SODIMM slott. Is this correct?

The CN95712 comes with 2 x 8gb and I thought these were all the same base model so the CN95710 should have had two slots?

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks
