Trying to find out if AC Adapters from previous Inspiron 1720 and 9300 laptops ( V1277 PA10 90W) can be used on my Inspiron 15R N5020 laptop.

I called tech support regarding my problem and was told that the configuration should been the other way around. I was told the only way that it can be fixed is to pay $297 or so to fix it.
That's shameful. we have purchased several computers, my Dell XPS also took a dump (hard drive failure) and several costly other supplies from you over the years and recommended Dell to others.
I had a outside source walk me thru getting, anything out of the C: drive that wasn't a application. Still not enough room and can't download anything else,
that already cost me more than we can afford. We are seniors and we are so greatfull for our computers but...I can download anything else for Photoshop.
Hopefully you will give me a break and resolve this problem. It was a concern since i got the computer but who knew. And My battery is gone.

I can't download a new bios and have done every virus removal known. After I use 100gb's I have to reload the operating system to be able to use this computer. Will work fine at first then after so many hours of usage it just fails. Good computer as I use it for D.A.W. work but the sound will start to lag and then start getting the blue screen of death or just freezes and becomes unusable even in safe mode. Please help.

I'm new to the forums, usually try to figure out and fix any issues computer or electronic related on my own. However, this issue has been going on far too long and I'm absolutely out of idea's.
Last year (February) I decided to go all out and get a brand new Alienware m17x r3 from Alienware.com. I did go all out and ended up spending about $3000.00, which I'm just finishing paying off. It was a heck of a lot, but I use my computer for a lot (gaming, recording, movies, work). All of which I do in my home office.
Anyways, I have had little issues with the computer in the last year, a constant BSOD issue from installing a program called MotionInJoy to allow you to use ps3 controller on the laptop, that issue is seperete.
The issue I have I've seen quite a few of on everyone m17x model, the issue i've been have is a "plugged in, not charging" issue, the power adapter seems to be working fine, the computer will turn on without the battery in, this issue has happened in the past but i've either switched power sockets or just unplugged and plugged back in. Originally I thought it was just a glitch, the charger doesn't stay in too well and constantly slips out so I assumed maybe it wasn't connected properly. Now however, this issue is constant and I've tried almost everything!
When I ordered this laptop I waited about two months to receive it, of course as I check the warranty now, it's conveniently ended about 2 months ago.
I'm pretty upset with the fact that this computer was so expensive that I'm still paying it off, when I have a few other lower end laptops that have been kicking it for years.
Please someone tell me what the issue is. I know i'm not the only one who's been having it, and it appears that no one at Dell or Alienware has addressed or fixed this issue.

Iam getting an error showing- 'notification dll not registered' even before the logon screen and the system does nothing afterwards and jus has a black screen with a mouse pointer and does not boot at all. Please help.
I have a Dell 15 N5040. The CPU fan died on me for no reason. I removed the keyboard and palm rest to find that the laptop that was bought brand new was missing the "4th" screw -- the one the ties down part of the thermal assembly to the video chip. I replaced it with a new fan -- and the fan spins on high constantly and failed the Dell Diagnostics. So I decided to try ANOTHER new fan -- plugged it in and same thing. Can anyone tell me what the problem could be? Could it be the fourth screw it's missing? It's not dust buildup or heat issues. Thanks.
So yeah I have a problem, my DVD drive will play DVD's and some older CD's but it will not play the two new CD's I just bought. It sounds like morse code when I put it in, but won't play at all.

I erased my music 6 months prior to make space for photographs and videos… now I stream my music rather. I discovered this mind blowing application that works perfect on wifi and unit information. It gives you a chance to pursuit any tune or specialist and make fav records. Likewise you can include your companions, take after them, and see what they are listening to. I discovered it miserable after I saw the tunes my father was listening to… lol. At any rate, look at the application, its in the application store, its called Tunebash:

It seems like every time I delete a file, I get a whit bar on my desk top that says Delete and the only way on getting ride of it is to restart my laptop, this white bar is on my display all the time on mater what I am doing, Please help.

Hi, I have a Dell XPS 15z laptop. I was typing on my laptop today when out of no where, a dark shadow abruptly emerged on the right side of my laptop screen. At first I thought it was a glare, but when I tilted the screen I realized it looked like something went wrong with either the screen, backlight, etc. I unfortunately can't include a screen shot of the shadow because it doesn't show up that way. However I included a picture I took with my phone that might help explain my problem
Any recommendation, advise or help is greatly appreciated :)
A month ago, I bought a brand new laptop from a third party online vendor, which says the laptop is covered by original Dell warranty.
I tried checking the Service Tag on back of laptop on Dell website, got this message:
"We were unable to verify the Service Tag or Express Service Code you have entered. Please verify your entry or choose a product category below."
I tried calling Dell directly. Spent over an hour on phone with Dell, before getting disconnected because they transferred me to another service department that was closed. Alas, an hour wasted!
Really frustrated of dealing with this. I don't have the time.

Using both mouse buttons doesn't work, like using it to aim and shoot, I have removed the binding for middle mouse button by touching both but it doesn't work
My XPS 13 is 100 days old and is dead. I spent hours on the phone with tech support yesterday to no avail.
Parts were overnighted but were refurbished. I am NOT putting refurbished parts in my NEW computer.
I have spent much of my day trying to get this escalated only to be transferred, disconnected in their automated system. Not one of the reps I have actually spoken to seems to have the answer or the the authority to do anything about my situation. I am frustrated and seriously considering telling them to take it back and forget it. I will take my business elsewhere.
I am in sales, customer service. If I operated my business this way I would be out of business!

I just got a new XPS 15 and I have been having trouble with the two finger scrolling. Whenever I am scrolling down a page with the two finger gesture it jumps to the bottom of the page. If i try to scroll back up, it jumps back to the bottom again. If anyone has any insight on this problem, it would be much appreciated.
I recently purchased the xps 12 ultrabook. Now the touch pad on it will not work at all. Not sure if I pushed something to disable it or what? But the pointer is there and when I click, it does absolutely nothing!! I have to use the touch screen for everything or an external mouse that I plugged in.
How can I fix this problem??? thanks for any help.
I just purchased an XPS 15 1053sLV from Best Buy's website, and have just heard about the issues that the L521x has with its wireless card. I am wondering if this problem is universal among XPS models and if my computer will have similar problems when it arrives. The computer I ordered comes with Windows 8, which I heard on one website is enough to counter the Wifi problem, and I heard from other sources that uninstalling pre-installed programs like McAfee and Sendori would also speed up the wireless connection. I also heard that installing this Wireless_15.1.1_Ds64.exe file from Intel would fix the problem (although this was used on a L502x, so idk if the file is model specific). Are any of these solutions viable?
Mostly I want to know whether I should just cancel my order and go with a different laptop or if this problem is fixed/fixable. I'm also quite confused, as I don't know much about makes and models of laptops.
Any advice would be helpful to me.
