Brand new dell inspiron 17" 5755 makes continously beeping sound in intervals of 4 on startup and doesn't boot

Brand new out of the box dell inspiron 17" 5755 laptop makes beeping noises in intervals of 4 on startup and doesn't boot. I read online to remove battery disconnect power cord and press and hold power button for 30 seconds, then reconnect power. After a couple of tries it stopped beeping and actually booted and let me set up my computer. I downloaded anti virus software and a game my son bought. But when he was playing he took a,break and the computer went to sleep and started beeping again. And now I tried a dozen times but can't get it to stop beeping or get it to boot. Please help, it was my sons Christmas present and I feel so bad for him. Thanks

No scrolling option on Dell Inspiron

Is there an option to be able to scroll using the mousepad on the Dell Inspiron laptop? It has an i5 processor. There is no visual scroll bar (horizontal or vertical) and I would hope that I can use a two-finger scroll. It's hard to believe that Dell would create a laptop this late in the game that doesn't have the ability.

Dell Inspiron 7547 won't restart and won't turn off.

So for about a month or two, my laptop hasn't been able to turn off completely. When I turn it off through Windows 10 the laptop shuts down but the power button is still lit up, it never did that before. And when I try to turn it back on, it won't. So every time I want to turn on my PC I have to hold the power button for 5 seconds and turn it back on. When I want to shut down I have to hold down the power button for 5 seconds. Also when it is in the state where I turned it off but the power button it still lit up, it consumes power. Whenever I turn my PC off, I also unplug from the charger. I really want to get this fixed because I've heard that force shutdowns can harm your PC. If anyone can help me, please do. Thanks in advance.

Critical Structure Corruption -iaStor.sys after upgraded to Windows 10

My laptop is Dell Inspiron 7420 with windows 8.1.  After upgraded to Windows 10, I always got blue screen with Critical Structure Corruption error. With Microsoft help, I located the error message is "iaSor.sys" which dated on 2012-2-1 in my laptop.  I visited Dell website and updated all drivers from Dell support website, that Dell recommended.  Total 5 drivers have been updated/  I checked iaStor.sys, it seems no change at all, still 2012-2-1 time stamp, and my laptop still has problem of blue screen with Critical Structure Corruption.

Can someone help me out with this problem? how can I get a updated iaStor.sys?

Thanks

Dell inspiron 3542 won't fully shut down

Hello! My first post on this forum so forgive me my mistakes!

I use this laptop plugged in and when i shut down i disconnect it from power and shut it down. Next day battery would be almost drained. When it is plugged in on my desk for few days, when i shut it down i notice faint(very, very faint) buzzing from laptop and to turn it on i have to press power button for 10 seconds and then buzzing stops. Then i can normally turn it on. I am running win10. It came with ubuntu and there was no problem. When i ran live linux distro no problem. When it is buzzing it is too quiet for any motor, and clicking power button or any other button does nothing. The sleep does not work while it is plugged in; i have to 10 seconds press to turn it on but not from slepp it boots again. I do not know when it started or why.

XPS 13 9350 Boot Crash, Screen Frozen With Thousands Of Lines

Hey guys, after having a perfectly working laptop with Windows 10, I just tried to boot up my 9350, and I got this screen after 2 seconds: http://i.imgur.com/Cn2PPPG.png

Restarted a few times, which didn't help. I've tried to get to the bios during bootup, and I managed to get to:http://i.imgur.com/TCAWJWx.jpg

Where I can navigate, but only in that tiny bar on the screen. Which makes it impossible basically.

Has anybody had this issue before?

Any idea how to fix this?

I've got the latest Dell bios installed (updated 3 days ago)

I've ran a diagnostics test, and I get full color screens (red, blue, green). So it seems to be OK there.

I NEED this machine for work, and I know sending it to Dell will take weeks (in Europe), so that's really not an option.

I've had this machine for like 2 months. Really unacceptable this.

Bitlocker recovery key

MyDell Latitude E6430 with Windows 7 Enterprise  Service Pack 1 and Microsoft Office 2010 has worked fine for 3 years, and was working fine on Saturday night when I logged off.  But when I tried to log on the next morning it would not start - it says 'The system boot information has changed since Bitlocker was enabled. You must supply a Bitlocker recovery key to start this system.'

I have no idea why this has happened.  I had never heard of Bitlocker before this happened, and am not in the habit of fiddling around with my laptop's settings.  I do not have a recovery key, and don't know where to find one.  Microsoft tell me it is the manufacturer, not them, who will have to supply it.  Can anyone tell me how to get it?

Problems reverting from Windows 10 to Windows 7

I have a Dell Latitude E6520 which came with Win 7 Pro OA installed. I upgraded to Windows 10 when prompted to do so by the Windows pop-up last Autumn.

It worked pretty well for a while but there are ongoing issues with sound and with iTunes and I need these for my work so I would like to just go back to Win 7, even though more than 1 month has passed.

I tried to download the Win 7 iso to help do this, but when I tried from the Windows iso site I got the error message "The product key you've entered appears to be for software which was pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options."

Can anyone help me proceed?

M4700 only 10Mbit Ethernet

$

I have a Precision M4700 that has generally behaved well and been a good machine, However it seems the on board Ethernet ( Intel 82579LM) will only connect at 10 Mbit. I am not sure if this is recent - or just I did not notice before,  It is running Win 7 64 bit if that helps.

If in a docking station I get  Gigabit connection with no problem, but the same network cable connected directly to the on board LAN port will only connect at 10 mbit.

I think the docking station port is really only extending the on board port in some way as Device manager only ever shows the one Ethernet device, so I am at a loss what to try.

I have uninstalled and re-installed all relevant drivers, tried several cables, connected to different routers and the result is always the same - on board port only 10 mbit.  When docked full gigabit speeds.

There are a few articles about the 82579LM sometimes doing this but nothing referred to in those has solved the problem.

Suggestions welcome!

Thanks

Mike

Dell E5450 Windows 10 screen blinking (intel 5500 video) after disconnecting from dock (solved)

Problem was with Intel HD5500 and Dell Latitude 5450. Screen started blinking when on battery.
Uninstall drivers, reinstall Windows 10, Bios upgrade, reinstall video Drivers from Windows update and from Dell did not repair it.
Final solution was to change Intel HD graphics options and after that looks like problem was solved.
Hope it helps someone else too.

Intel Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17265 doesn't appear on Network Adapter

Hi,

I'm using Dell Latitude E7450 (equipped with WiGig Intel Tri Band AC 17265) in Windows 7 and WLD15 Docking station. Currently, I'm doing a research on the performance of WiGig by using those pair of devices. I'd like to measure some 802.11ad performance parameters such as RSSI and physical data rate. However, the only interface to connect/access the docking station is Intel Wireless Dock Manager, which doesn't provide such information.

I've installed Wireless Dock Manager and the connection between the Laptop and the Docking station is successfully established. However, Intel Tri Band Wireless AC 17265 still doesn't appear on Network Adapter option. In the manual (http://www.dell.com/support/manuals/an/en/anbsdt1/dell-wrls-ds-wld15/WLD...), Intel Tri Band AC 17265 adapter should appear in Network Adapter option in Device Manager.

Therefore, I'd like to know if there is another possible way to access the physical layer information (RSSI and physical data rate) for this WiGig connection. I also would like to know about the availability of Intel Tri-Band Wireless-AC 17265 driver on Linux.

The help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Rizqi

How do I see BIOS/UEFI settings under Windows 10?

$

I have a Dell Precision M4700 running Windows 10.  I am investigating two issues both of which require access to BIOS (or is it UEFI?) settings:

  1. The machine came with a 750 Gb hard drive which I have cloned to a 480 Gb Samsung SSD. I naively assumed the SSD is simply a plug-in replacement, and indeed it works, though the results (boot times for example) haven't blown me away. But from reading stuff on the web it is starting to look like I need to tell the BIOS that the I/O rate has gone up. Why oh why?
  2. I have been running an Oracle VirtualBox for ages, to run an Ubuntu guest. Suddenly, out of the blue, the VM won't start up, complaining that VT-x isn't enabled.

My attempts to investigate have been thwarted by Windows 10's maddening inability to let me get into the BIOS by pressing F10 during the boot. And though I have carefully followed the long list of steps needed to get into an equivalent position, at no stage does the promised "UEFI Firmware Settings" prompt appear.  How do I do it?

XPS 15 9530 won't power on - again!

I just had my logic board replaced, because my XPS 15 won't resume from sleep. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem. (In addition, my screen is now much dimmer, even at max brightness, which is annoying.)

If the computer sleeps, the only way to start it up again is to open the case, disconnect the battery lead, and press the power button for 10-20 seconds to drain the static flea power. Then (after reassembly) it works fine again.

It seems like the logic board replacement rules out most hardware problems. All Dell diagnostics that I've run pass. I did send in the drive without the SSD, because it contains proprietary info, so that is a possibility. Hybrid sleep is off though.

It seems like there must be a driver problem. I've updated the nvidia and Intel drivers and run the Dell tool, and done a recent Windows Update, so nothing is out of date. I've also removed any software installed around the time the problem surfaced.

I'm out of ideas, other than sending it in for another board swap. Thoughts/suggestions would be most welcome.

Latitude E7250 idle temps too high?

$

Hi there. I just bought a new Dell Latitude E7250, i7 5600u (5th gen), 8gb ram and intel HD550 built in graphics. Upon opening and setup the fan runs very loud due to high generations of heat. It's idling at 74 degrees Celsius and going up and down to 81 or 65. This is with me doing nothing to the laptop. I've restarted and checked task manager. Is this normal for such a high spec new laptop?

I thought the whole idea of 5th gen was so it rubs cooler? This laptop heats up within a couple of minutes

Thank in advance

Dell Latitude 3550 - Double Typing Problems

$

Hello,

It has been more than 3 months sincce I got the dell latitude 3550 laptop. I upgraded to Windows 10 version sometime back.

Both before and after the Win10 upgrade, there was a problem of double typing. i.e. Even if I press a character only once, it appears twice.  Like I try to typpe "Marshal", it endds up as "Marrshhal" (plus you can see live examples of "typpe" andd "endds" in the earlier sentence, which I deliberately didd not correct)

Similarly, the touchpad (mouse) on the laptop gets clicked randomly. It has resulted in sending of half-cooked emails, and the cursor being positioned at random locations while typing.

Can dell please help with this problem?

Thanks
