Alienware 17 R3 full diagnostic BSOD

Hello,

I'm having problems with my brand new Alienware 17 R3. The machine will just crash to a black screen and go unresponsive after an hour two of use arbitrarily (sometimes not). I believe it may be the Intel HD 530 display driver (20.19.15.4312), which crashes periodically while browsing the web.

In attempting to locate this issue, I ran a full diagnostic test using the website. Followed the instructions, installed the system detect program, and the diagnostic test crashes to a BSOD every time (KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE).

Is anyone else experiencing this? What are my options? Thanks.


AC adapter switches from 130W to not installed

Hi, a strange behaviour out of the blue after years of no problems.

Precision 4500 turned off, working battery and AC of another identical working laptop plugged in,
the AC blue light stays on for some seconds, than flashes off and back on, repeats this 1 or 2 times than see the blue lights flashin all together even on the power button, a small glitch sound, end everything repeats again.

If I boot to BIOS, I can see battery status saying "AC adapter 130W - battery charging" while the status light is blue, then I see "AC adapter not installed - battery discharging" for a second, and back againg to 130w+charging.

While light off and "AC not  installed", the screen shows a lower illumination than back on.

I can't boot the system with power and battery in, once Windows is on, the system will soon shutdown.
I have to take the working battery out, and just work with the power AC plugged in.

If I place the same AC and battery on another identical laptop, it works fine.
Looks like something on this laptop only.
Where should I look???

My Inspiron 5320 won't turn on

I've been experiencing power problems with this laptop for a while but last night it cut out and won't turn on. When I push the power button the power light is on and it makes all the usual sounds but the screen remains black. Also this morning it started beeping - 3 times in a row then pausing and started beeping 3 more. What does this mean? Can you run a diagnosis of my laptop and tell me what the problem is and how much it will cost to be fixed and if is work fixing. The laptop still charges but the charging light does not always come on

Hello! I would know how much I can upgrade Studio 1558 memory? My laptop is 4 giga ram memory (2 x 2 giga). I would make 16 giga ram upgrade.

XPS 12 s shuts down

My  XPS 12 starts to boot into windows and then shuts down half way through.

  • If I boot to the bios the laptop is stable (ie no auto shut down)
  • I have tried to  boot to Linux same issue as windows (booting from USB, no install)
  • I have ran Dell ePSA Pre-boot system assessment and no errors

Ant ideas on how to fix?

WLan drivers and other drivers installed but not working

Can anyone help, I have re-installed windows 7 home premium 64 bit

 and also the drivers from the original cd but...

It just won't connect to the internet.

The laptop can't access wifi and it won't connect via an ethernet cable either.  The laptop was connecting to the internet before re-installing windows, so I'm confused as to why the drivers just won't or don't work and it won't now connect.

I have checked the drivers in device manager and even though I have installed them from the original cd they are not showing up and so are still showing yellow exclamation mark as no drivers installed.

be grateful for any assistance.

Wifi & Ethernet connection of Inspiron 15 5000 series is extremely slow

Hi, I have purchased Inspiron 15 5000 series 2 months back. When I connect to a 50 mbps internet connection through wifi/ Ethernet connection ,  I receive only 40 to 70 kbps speed. But my Dell Studio laptop works fine in both the connection( wifi & Ethernet).

Can you please help me resolve the internet speed issue at the earliest.

Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 Won't Power ON!!

hello i have a dell inspiron 15r n5110 and it doesnt power on, i took it to a computer repair center (not dell as we dont have dell centers in our country) and he said the motherboard was fried, i took it to another center and they said that the bios is broken......

P.S : it doesnt show any kind of power in : no charger LED, no power LED, nothing turns on

what can it be?

Started new job and software engineer (SE) there messed with my personal computer and it wouldn't connect to internet.  I saw him messing with commands and I never even gave permission to touch my personal laptop (new bosses of new start up gave me desktop yet I need to be mobile; that's why I had laptop at work).  I don't think the SE had any ill intent but it hasn't been right since.  So I ran malware bytes and nothing was solved (I couldn't get to any Google-related sights as well as some work log-in's wouldn't work; IE and Chrome wouldn't work; only MS Edge worked but limited).

-So I rebooted and selected to go into Safe Mode.  I got to the Safe Mode log in successfully and haven't been able to do anything else since.

-I still have my Dell Drivers & Utilities disc (p/n G777H Rev A00 September 2008... yep, it's an ooold Dell Inspiron 1545 but it's been good to me).  I can't run them though.  Geek squad (in the past... I bought it from Best Buy) gave me a Data Backup disc and I can't run that either.  

-I've tried rebooting and launching from DVD/CD/... but no luck.

-I tried gong into settings and changing them to rebooting without prompting for password but nothing

-I've applied default settings but no luck.

-I tried removing the battery for 10 minutes but nothing

Obviously my warranty is long gone due to age and so Dell live chat won't give me the option to speak with me (which I understand but still a little crushing to my hopes).

Please please please let me know if anyone has any ideas.  I'll try them.  I'm on my wife's work computer now but I need to get mine back up for the work week.  Even if temporarily and then I'll look into a new one.  Thanks anyone for any and all feedback... even if the hard truth is that it's a "gone'r"

Dell XPS L701X Replaced Motherboard now no Display.

I Replaced the motherboard in my XPS and it is the exact motherboard all numbers matched up when i compared them both. It turns on fine i can hear it running but now I have Zero Display. Screen does not even work. Had to replace the board because the other one Died. So how can I Fix this or do I have to return the motherboard I got. I did get it on ebay but I can not find one anywhere that sells them New.

Screen turns black when unplugging laptop from the main power

I've recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 for my Dell Latitude E6420.

When I unplugged my laptop from the main power the screen turns black and the computer is still working and playing sounds, 

How can I fix it ?

Latitude E5570 Does Not Recognize M.2 PCIe

Inspiron 5558 shuts down when clicking F11 or F12, or connecting AC port!!!!

I have seen another post with a similar issue. Problem was that no one replied to that post made over a month ago.


The laptop goes into the process of shutting down hitting the F11, F12, or connecting/disconnecting the charger. I hit esc and it ultimately does not shut down completely, it simply closes most applications. NOTE: This does not happen every time these actions are performed, only at random. Though, it does happen at least once per day.


Example: I leave my laptop charging for several hours. I open it and either hit F11 to adjust the brightness or disconnect the AC charger and it goes into shutdown mode.


I'd really appreciate any pointers or comments that can help me understand this strange issue better.


e7450 crashes randomly during sleep

Hello,
I own an e7450 laptop running windows 10 education. I have no problems when the laptop is running, either on power or on battery. Also, I have no problems during stress tests.

But sometimes when I put the laptop to sleep mode either by pressing the power button or by closing the lid, the laptop shuts down. It is not a normal shut down, but it behaves like a sudden loss of power. There were many occasions where I lost some of my work because of an unsaved file. This may happen during sleep mode or while changing to this mode.


When I restart the laptop, the boot process repeats and there are no warnings. But sometimes I get messages that the shutdown was caused by overheating.

As I stated above, no problems are found if I test the laptop (either through BIOS or windows). There is only one exception: One of the USB Status Tests cannot run. I get the warning message: The device might be misconfigured or the driver support might not be present. Here is the log file:

I would like to add that sometimes I get the message: The system cannot communicate with your battery (while running windows). But this happens rarely.

The laptop has the latest BIOS and drivers. I am in frequent communication with Dell support in my country. The last thing we changed was a power management option for Intel Management Engine Interface (disallowing the computer to turn off this device to save power). This didn't solve the problem.

What I suspect is a faulty piece of hardware. For example a thermal sensor. I don't think that windows 10 is causing me problems because I had the same issue with windows 7.

I will appreciate any kind of help and ideas.

XPS 13 Wigig Card and Dell Wireless Docking Station WLD15

hi,

i have recently purchased an xps 13  intel i7 16gb ram, i am very happy with my purchase (i just have some small problems with the video, and freezing, but updating the drivers do the work)

on my excitement, i buy a docking station wld15 and a S2415H monitor.

my service tag is: CB3C662

the docking station just arrived and i unpacked it as fast as i can, just to figure out that i cant use it because my xps does not have a wigig card. (or at least thats what i think, i download the wigig driver and i got a message: no wigig interface found)

so now i a little upset and confused on what is the best way to solve this, so if someone can advise me on this matter i would be eternally grateful.

a. is there a way to use the docking station via cable, o do i have to buy a wigig card for my xps 13?

b. if i have to buy a new wigig card, what is the correct model for my laptop?

c. the docking station has three ports for video 

13. mini Display Port 14. HDMI Port 15. VGA Port

the monitor i bought has hdmi and vga port

what is the best option of cable to buy to connect the monitor? ( i had bought a display port to dvi, just to found it does not suit neither the docking station nor the monitor.)

well, i am very happy with my equimpent, but now i feel dissapointed, cause xps 13 is published with the wld docking station, then xps should have the wigig card on a regular basis.

Dell Inspiron 13 cracked screen

i have the same problem, never abused the laptop in any way. Closed cover and opened again about an hour later. Touch was haywire, restarted a couple times before I realized  there is now a thin crack in the center of the screen. I'm convinced it was caused be the flexing of the cover when it is opened. Any chance Dell will help on this issue?

3.0 USB port on Dell Inspiron 17 (Model 5748) will not work with Plugable USB3-Hub7-81X

USB3-Hub7-81X unit will not work on Dell Inspiron 17 (model 5748). It works fine on the USB 3.0 ports on my 2 Dell Desktops (I660 and 8900 XPS).  But it does not work on my Dell Inspiron 17 Model # 5748 laptop(service tag BW6Q912).  The 3.0 port on the laptop does work when a single 3.0 device (thumb drive or 3.0 1.5 TB WD external Hard drive that is powered through the Laptop 3.0 port is connected.  But this message still pops up on the screen when I attempt to use the 3.0 port with the Hub, (but the 2.0 port does work):
"The hub does not have enough power available to operate the USB Mass Storage Device. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message."
I can only conclude that the Dell laptop 3.0 USB port is of an incompatible configuration with the Plugable USB3-Hub-7-81X.  I have reached out to Dell tech support, but they are less than helpful and will not disclose the engineering of the port and motherboard - however, I will attempt to gain more information from them.   Do any members of this forum have any comments/ideas/solutins?

Dell XPS 15 (1550) 2 amber lights then 7 white lights - no boot. Help...

I have a Dell XPS 15 (1550) and I can't stand the adaptive brightness. I ran across an Anandtech post that talked about Dell issuing a patch for Content Adaptive Brightness Control on the Dell XPS 13. It had a link to dell.com where a firmware update for DBC disable and Enable is - which is supposed to let you disable the adaptive brightness. 

In doing this, my l laptop rebooted and now all I get is two amber flashing lights followed by 7 white lights over and over. I tried booting with F2 - can't get into BIOS. 

Any ideas?
