inspiron 3543 cant update Dell Wireless 1705 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth4.0+HS Driver

I recently bought inspiron 3543( win10, 8gb ram, 2gb nvidia, 1tb hdd) . But from the very begining of my purchase I am getting BSOD(page_fault_in_nonpaged_area; BCCODE: 50). After tracking down the .dmp files got to know it is happening because of bcmwl63a.sys driver. From dell support tried to update the network driver available for win 10.(link: )

Now that results me an error again.

Adjusting Touchpad/Touchscreen Sensitivity on Inspirion 15 With Windows 10

I have an Inspiron 5558 running Windows 10. I cannot find how I adjust the sensitivity of the touch pad or the touch screen. Sometimes just gently brushing the touch pad will sent the pointer off to be lost or to accidentally activate a link. The same is true for the touch screen.

Drivers for Windows 10 for DELL XPS L502X

Hello,

I have installed Windows 10 Pro on my Laptop after doing a complete format of the hard disc. It is genuine and activated with my own product key.

My question is : just after the installation, everything on the screen looked weird (like Windows XP used to look before installing the drivers) but after installing all available updates in "Control Panel - Security and Updates" and doing one restart, now everything looks fine. Graphics is also fine and sound as well.

Now, I am not sure whether I still need to install drivers like chipset, audio, video, LAN etc.

Since Windows 98 or XP till now, I had to install drivers after installing OS. Has Windows 10 made it automatic?

How will I come to know if there is a need to install drivers?

The main reason for this whole discussion is : Dell website has stopped supporting my model and they are not going to release drivers for this model.

So, if there is a need to install drivers, please let me know the source.

Thanks.

Hi,

I'm considering buying Dell Vostro 3449 laptop, I've a question about the ram.

I want to upgrade ram to 8gb, but the manual says that it can support upto 4gb only.

Can anyone confirm whether ram is upgradable or not? Has anyone done it?

May I know the chipset this laptop has?

Thanks in advance.

XPS 15 9550 - disabling Thunderbolt renders system unusable

$

Hi,

On my Dell XPS 15 9550 with i7/4k/84Wh/SSD and BIOS 01.01.15 once I disable Thunderbolt in BIOS settings I will only be able to boot the operating system exactly one time. After that the system neither boots, nor is it possible to enter SupportAssist tool. Instead the screen shows either black or random pixels (=memory dump). Luckily it's still possible to enter boot menu and bios settings. Both do not render properly as well, only a part is rendered at all (see http://imgur.com/Okw58UW), but as I knew where buttons are, I was still able to use the BIOS settings thanks to touch screen. Re-enabling Thunderbolt fixes the problem.

As I don't want Thunderbolt to be enabled for security reasons, this is not a long-term solution. Can someone confirm that this issue is not only on my device?

I should add a note that I am using Linux on this machine, which I know is not officially supported. However, this should not affect a properly written BIOS.

Cheers

Alienware 17 R2 980M No Power

Hey guys, I am down to my last leg here so hope someone can please help me out. So I just got a new Alienware 17 R2 laptop yesterday and everything was all good until I went to update the bios to A06. All went sweet but then it got stuck during the install for like an hour. Fans was going full blast the whole time and laptop would not accept any commands. Mouse was stuck and completely frozen. I even held down the power button for more then 30 seconds but would not switch off. My last and final resort was to open the back and disconnect the batter cable. After that the laptop powered off. I reconnected the cable and closed the back up and now it refuses to turn on or show any sign of life, no lights, no fans, no nothing. I have tried with the battery alone, then disconnect the battery and try using just the charger and still nothing.

Please help me guys!!!

Dell "Detect and Update" has rendered my laptop unusable - Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver causes blue-screen crashes!

So I was getting these annoying screen-flickers, goes black and then comes back on, w/ pop-up window saying "Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver  for WIndows Vista has stopped responding and recovered".... (i's not even Vista, but 7)    so I followed all the steps to fix what seems to be a common problem; I went to Intel, got a driver update; still didn't work, so I went on this Dell support website, installed System Detect and then installed the recommended updates....

NOW THE LAPTOP IS UNUSABLE.....blue-screen crash and reboot every 30 minutes or so, same message as before flickering before shutdown.... I've found some info that instructs me to "uninstall the driver, delete the software and then re-install "X" from.....", but the path given to work this magic does not exist (they left something out; I can't find it) .... something like "go to Control Panel, Hardware, Uninstall, expand Display Devices, select "delete software".... the path is NOT correct; there's no such location or option....

I CAN find "Uninstall", but no display drivers are an option.... I can find "Device Manager/Display Adapters/ Mobile Intel(R) Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corp. WDDM 1.1)", and I have the following options: Update Driver software, Disable, Uninstall, Scan for Hardware changes.... I am reluctant and paranoid to try any of them (scan for changes does nothing)

PLEASE somebody give me USEFUL information....(there's 1,000's of "hits" for "Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver crashes", and 999 of them say "install driver updates"....THAT'S WHAT MADE THE PROBLEM WORSE!) And, selecting a "System Restore " point even if I knew how far to go back, would only return me to the problem that led me to this condition in the first place....

Order delays: Alienware 17 R3 4K i7 6820hk 4.1GHz GTX980M 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD

We wanted a powerful gaming laptop to create a number of hands on reviews of the Oculus Rift.

There are several choices available such as the Razer Stealth Ultrabook, MSI GT range or the ASUS ROG series.

In the end we opted for the Alienware 17 R3 range and decided to max everything out to give it the best fighting chance.

We went with the Core i7 6820 hk CPU, 16GB RAM (although we wanted 32GB but the option wasn't available), 980M 8GB RAM and a 1TB M.2 PCIe SSD to boot.

Currently there are no hands on review of the latest Alienware 17 with 4K, i7 6820hk and 980m.

We wanted to be the first to show off the power of of the 17" with a host of games including GTA5, Far Cry, COD, Unchartered 4, Elite Dangerous, dying light, tomb raider to name a few.

The sales agent reassured us that the laptop will be with us by the 22 Jan 2016.

We kept checking for an online status update and when nothing was happening, we rang the customer service.

They told us that the order is on hold due to a missing part. Unfortunately, they can't tell us anything further for up to another 48 hrs and that we should expect further delays.

Nobody had contacted us to alert us of any delays until we rang.

After doing more research on the web about alienware/dell order delays, it appears that we're not the only ones to experience this.

As an avid gamer and content creator, I've noticed that Alienware has been dropping in service steadily over the years.

I know that they're working hard to launch something with the Oculus Rift and hoping to make a big splash, but I can't see how they can continue unless they improve the fundamentals of their core order flow.

Apart from their 4K screen, the other components are pretty standard now. They didn't even give us a 32GB RAM choice (we called and spoke to the sales team). They don't even offer a Windows 10 Professional choice in the OS.

This is doubly disappointing since I was really rooting for them but it seems that my colleagues are going to be proved correct.

We may have to cancel the order and select something else.

We're going to post our experience of ordering our Alienware on our channel.

We'll keep you updated.

Inspiron 15 5559 - bluetooth speaker keeps disconnecting.

I have a nice bluetooth speaker system I use with my new laptop, and it works great except that whenever there's a period when no sound is going to it, it disconnects, and I have to go back to the control panel to reconnect it.  That's a pain.  So is there any way I can set it to NOT disconnect like that?  I can't find any setting to do that.

Mouse button too sensitive.

This is a little different than issues I've seen related to mouse button sensitivity.  If I lightly touch the left button on my mouse in a certain spot, it single clicks.  This just happens to be the natural resting spot for my finger.  I've tried cleaning it out, but it is still very sensitive.  Ideas?

Inspiron 7737: Search multimedia key not working in Windows 10

After upgrading to Windows 10 pressing the search keyboard key results in an "f" typed in the currently selected text input field instead of showing the search pane. I suspect that this key produces the keystroke f+something which is no longer a keyboard shortcut in Windows 10. Could you please issue an update to remap that key into Cortana/search??

PD: Also please double check every other multimedia key software shortcut is still valid for Windows 10.

XPS 15 9530 Hardware failures

Ordered two XPS 15 9530 laptops for business late last year.

Within a month the first one had a failed HD, which Dell eventually said they would replace after weeks of delay.

Shortly after the second one crashed and Dell tells us they likely have to replace the HD and the Motherboard (!).  I insisted on a replacement for clearly a defective products.  Dell refuses.

Extremely disappointed at both the defective laptops and poor customer support.
Need to replace the Motherboard and HD on a brand new $2500 laptop?  inexcusable.

Business at a stand still as Dell tries to stickhandle out of sending a replacement machine.

Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Hinge Broken Issue

We purchased this laptop Jan. 2015.  It is currently almost out of warranty. We purchased online from Costco. I called Costco Concierge services and they connected me with Dell Warranty Dept.  I explained the issue of the screw popping out and the hinge now being broken. Of course the first thing they asked was if it has ever been dropped. NO! IT HAS NEVER BEEN DROPPED! We cannot open the screen more than a 90 degree angle. In some cases when we do, the computer shuts itself down and reboots.  This is obviously a defect in the hardware and workmanship and design of this laptop. As I just spoke with Dell and they are sending me a box to ship the laptop back in. It will take 7-10 business days to fix.  This is a work computer so of course we cannot be without a computer for that long. We will have to buy another computer to use during this time and then give to another employee once the broken one is fixed. For now, they have not said we need to pay anything to fix it as it is still under its one year warranty. But I will let you know if something else occurs. I am glad this forum is here because I would never have known others have had this problem.  Dell really should recall this product or at least give people new computers when they call with this issue. This is such a hassle.  I will post back on here what the resolution outcome is.  Also, they let me know that if it happens again once it is fixed, it will no longer be under warranty. We will have to purchase the extended warranty.  I am really somewhat disappointed in DELL as I would think such a large company backs their products. Everyone on this forum should really have a class action suit against them for our money back.  Good luck everyone with your issues on this!

Inspiron 7347 no longer detects bluetooth devices for pairing

$

I have a inspiron 7347 i5 running the latest version of Windows 10 (64 bit) that has suddenly stopped detecting most (but not all) bluetooth devices for pairing. So far, I have not tried to pair a new device (I don't have one to try it with) but have been unable to re-pair old devices: devices tried include a Microsoft Sculpt mouse and Logitech K380 multi device keyboard. Both have previously been paired with the computer and functioned properly; the mouse would not function the other day, so I removed it intending to re-pair it to the laptop, but the laptop does not detect either of the devices now. Here is what I have already tried and what the computer is telling me...

From the "Mange bluetooth devices" window, bluetooth is ON, and it says "Your PC is searching and can be discovered by Bluetooth devices" and the little dots move across the window. My paired headset appears, but nothing else does.

The devices ARE in pairing mode, but do not appear in the "Add a device" window, as if the computer cannot see them; both the mouse and keyboard are able to pair with other bluetooth devices, including my desktop and a Steam Link, and function properly. So this issue is with the laptop. Oddly, when I tried pairing them at home, the devices I wanted to pair did not appear, but three "unkown" devices did (probably our Roku3, PS4, and I don't know what else). I took the laptop and both devices to work to try and pair them there; the unknown devices are not appearing, but neither are the keyboard or mouse. Trying to pair the unknown devices failed.

I have switched bluetooth on and off repeatedly.

I have restarted my computer, repeatedly.

I have tried pairing with WiFi both on and off.

I have checked for updates through windows update (up to date), Dell update (updates found and successfully installed, none related to bluetooth; restarted since), as well as through Properties in the bluetooth settings window, which says I have the latest drivers for my devices. Bluetooth settings lists four devices: Intel Wireless Bluetooth; LG HB900 (my bluetooth headset; still paired, it connects and works fine), Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator, and Microsoft Bluetooth LE Enumerator; all devices are listed as working properly.

I have tried Troubleshooter, which suggests the above actions and can't find a problem on its own.

I have checked Services, and all bluetooth services are checked. I have switched both bluetooth services from "Manual" to "Automatic", per suggestions from other forums, and it does not appear to have made a difference.

I have tried pairing with the "Allow bluetooth devices to discover my computer" box (in the bluetooth settings window; options tab) both checked and unchecked, and have restored to default (unchecked) and it has made no difference.

Hardware manager says everything is fine.

Bluetooth settings lists a single outgoing COM Port associated with my LG headset; no incoming port is listed. I have no idea if this matters.

If I right click on the bluetooth icon in the taskbar, the "Allow a device to connect" option is grayed out. My headset connects fine just the same.

There is no error code; the pairing does not fail because there is no attempt to pair.

I cannot find any indication that Norton Security Suite will prevent bluetooth pairing or is interfering; Windows Defender is off because Norton is on.

One odd thing; when I removed the keyboard as a device in order to re-pair it, it appeared briefly as "ready to pair" then disappeared. Is there a setting that refuses to allow devices that have been removed to pair again? I have found no such setting, nor any indication of such a setting online.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Alienware 17 R2 - Hard Drive Problems

$

Hello,

I bought my Alienware in June 2015. I've been using it as a secondary computer when i'm not using my dekstop PC.

I started to notice a problem after a while of using it. When I booted my laptop up it sometimes took a few minutes to boot into windows, (I have a SSD so I found it weird that it took so long).

But after it finally booted into windows, my second hard drive didn't show up under "My Computer". It didn't show up under "Disk Management" either.

I have tried to search the internet for solutions but I haven't found anything that helped.
The HDD shows up in the bios. I have tried to disconnect and reconnect the SATA Cable, it works but after a few reboots it stops working and my SSD is the only disk that shows up.

I've been using computers and studying computers for the past years, and I have never seen something like this before. Any help would be appreciated :)

Thank you in advance,
- Martin

The Drives: 128 GB m2.80 NGFF TLC SSD + 1 TB, 5400 o/min hard drive.
(I am running Windows 10).
