'Operating system not found' following factory restore

Hello.

I had to replace a harddrive on my Inspiron 17R SE 7720 as it was not starting up properly on the old one.

I did a factory restore to the new drive (old drive removed) from a USB, which appeared to be successful. But on restart it shows the message "Operating System not found" and on enter goes to Boot Mode. 

I assume I need a Dell recovery disk or an OEM/Retail Windows 8/8.1 installation CD to fix this, but neither was provided with the laptop at purchase.

How can I get a disc? Product service tag was <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>

Does anyone else have a XPS 13 9333, with a loose screen hinge that wobbles.

Is there any fix for this and or how would I be able to contact Dell for support?

Hi there,                                                           

I have the Inspiron 7347 for about 14 months. Everything works out fine until early this week, the system battery starts to indicate "0% available (Plugged In Not Charging)"

I go through this Forum, and all the Dell Support Assist Diagnostic Tools but still not successful in solving the problem.

This is what I have done:

1) In the Dell Product Support, Run the Diagnostic for Battery Plugged in but not charging. The last 2 steps of this diagnostic for running the diagnostic and sending report was not able to complete!! I tried for many hours and occasions and the diagnostic never get pass these last 2 procedures. 

2) In the Dell Product Support, Install Drivers and downloads and update the BIOS. The BIOS shows that the Battery is working normally and the Adaptor indicated "W65".  

3) In the Power Options, the Battery Health Check indicated that the Battery is performing normally.

4) In the "System Info" tab under the Dell Support Assist, I run a complete test on all the hardware and software and the test results indicated that everything including the Battery and the Adapter is functioning properly.

5) Check the Device Manager, expand the batteries option, check the Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI for any update of Software and Hardware Changes. The results show OK.  

There is basically no test that is available on the Dell Support Assist that I can perform now except f0r 1) above which I am not able to complete.

What else could be the problem?

So i rane the diagnosed and this error appeared.  Error code 2000-0142

Msg: hard drive 0 s/n 6ws27n76 self test unsuccessful status =7

Hello everyone,

Well recently, i got an issue with my windows 7 which I've been using for 2 years now, concerning malware and virus.

However i did a clean format of my hard disk and reformatted my laptop. Now the issue is that its freezing every 5min not allowing me to perform any update or scan. I've tried windows 7 and even windows 8.1 but the problem persist.

Can you please help me?

I just bought this product with Nvidia 980m and 2x4g video memory but only 4g memory is detected in the system. Is this a problem of configuration or I didn't get 2X4g video memery card at all?

               i have dell inspiron n5110, it is power on but no booting display and no beeb soung and fan is on but after few second fan also off

I'm using Inspiron N4110. When I'm turning on the laptop, it's just lighting up the indicators like(power button, settings, dell support & Display Off buttons) and shutting down automatically. there is no other indications. Can you help in this problem. what is the reason for this problem and please tell the solution for this one...

I have a Dell Latitude E6510 i5 64bit windows 10 os, as a christmas gift I recieved a Dell U2413 Monitor.  I like to use a dual display with my laptop screen and 2 extra monitors, I use  one monitor to the right of my laptop screen as my main display and is an extended display of the laptop screen while another monitor is positioned near my bed and is a duplicate display of the monitor stationed next to the laptop for watching movies and viewing my surveaillence system.  Everything worked fine with the use of a 4port VGA splitter but when I tried to replace my main display (next to laptop) with the new U2413 that has no VGA in or out I have had no  luck getting the same effect. No matter what I tried like DP from laptop to mini d on  tne monitor or VGA out on laptop to DVI adapter to monitor DVI. The new U2413 will not recognize any signal from my laptop. I have screwed around with it so much trying to get it to work that I have no display whatsoever onany of them presently.  My laptop turns on, boots up then goes copmletely blank.  Thr mouse cursor is there but there is no image behind it.  My whole office is torn to pieces and I need to get this resolved befoere tomorrow. Any body got any ideas? I have tried a few diffferent approches but nothing. I know the new monitor works because I did at one point get it to detect all three monitors   but I wasn't asble to extend my desktop from 2 to 3  and I changed it for the worse.

I noticed the Ghosting a few months back and recently began Googling for information. The article states that Dell is replacing affected screens even for units that are out of warranty. Mine is out of warranty now so I was relieved that they had acknowledged the issue and were actually doing something about it. So I called customer support and was told that because my unit is out of warranty there was nothing they could do. I'm hoping someone here has information that can get me pointed in the right direction for a resolution to the issue. Thanks for your help!

Touchpad problem with second monitor on M6600 Win 10

I've just added a second monitor for the first time. All is working fine except the touchpad, which works perfectly on the laptop monitor, but will not transfer to the other one. If I install a mouse, that works as expected, and if I click the mouse on the second monitor, the touchpad then works on that monitor but not on the main one.

Any ideas?

Hi!

I have a big problem. Yesterday I updated my windows 8.1 to windows 10 and my touchscreen stopped working. I thought that something is wrong with win10 so there was an option in settings to bring back the windows 8.1, and I did it (hoping that my touchscreen will be working again). HOWEVER, my touchscreen does not work again,  what can I do? My computer does not even see the touchscreen and stylus in settings, it says that I don't have them, even though yesterday's morning I was using them? What should I do?

I have a dell xps 15. (1520) I think. I have a GT 540M video card if that matters. (I used to be able to game but not any more) . Anyway

My hard drive went out so I ordered a new one from dell along with windows  7 on a flash drive. I installed both with no issues. The dell helper thing pops up and takes me directly to the dell driver down load page. I download and install everything it tells me to. Now here is the kicker.

all have no driver installed. When I go to the driver download page it tells me to download R292317 I have done this and installed it. but it still wont install drivers. Im not sure just how big of a deal this is but it seems to be causing other problems. My mouse jumps and clicks thing for no reason, sometimes the system will just freeze (when playing a game) I tried to install wireless ear buds and those failed as well. Please help if you can.

Inspiron Battery Status Light flashing

Hi all,

Purchased a brand new Inspiron 5759 direct from Dell last month. Today, it wouldn't boot up at all on battery, so thinking the battery was flat (even though I know I charged it fully yesterday) I plugged the mains charger in, and it then booted up. However, my battery status light has started to flash constantly (yellow I think, difficult to tell), if I unplug, or switch off the mains charger, the laptop instantly goes completely dead.  It will boot-up and operate whilst plugged in, but not a sign of life on battery, even though the battery status icon in notification bar states '98% available', however it does also state 'plugged in, not charging'.  I am presuming I have a faulty battery, but could it be something else does anyone know?

I was going to call Dell support tomorrow but thought I'd give the Community a shot first. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 5558 laptop two days ago. I turned on this laptop and the keyboard doesn't work. I have used the screen keyboard to finish the configuration (date, time, name and more), thinking that the problem was in the configuration, but not.

What's the problem? How Can I solved it?

My inspiron n5010 will not power on after reassembly!

Hello, i recently took my dell inspiron n5010 apart and replaced the CMOS RTC battery. Upon reassembling  the aptop, it will no longer power on! I have tried checking all connections to the system Board and they seem fine. When plugged in,  i get one white LED light, but that's it. Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong or how to fix it? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hi my Dell laptop inspiron 15, 7000 series. I7 6500,2.5 ghz,8gb windows 10.

Not able to connect to WiFi.it's just 10 days old and this is really annoying. It connected n everything was fine a week ago. Now it's telling No Internet,  reboots troubleshooting didn't help

Latitude E6410 doesn't wake up from sleep

I recently got a used E6410 for my wife. I installed Windows 7 on it. All is well except that it won't wake up from sleep. When she's done with it, she has to remember to do a shutdown or hybernate. If she simply closes the lid, putting it to sleep, it never wakes up, and she has to pull the battery to get it going again.

Any suggestions?

I'm having this problem and looked through similar posts on this forum and other (Googled) but couldn't help solve it.

The problem I have is my Dell (Inspiron N5050) laptop goes off with a click sound and when I push the power button to restart it, it turns back on showing "Resuming Windows" and brings me to the log in screen (can log in and access desktop etc). However, it stays on for up to say 2 or 3 minutes and does the same (goes off). After repeating the process for 3 or 4 times, it shuts down. This time when I push the start button to turn it on, it goes to the "Windows Error Recover" providing options such as Safe Mode etc.

(((About five months before this issue, it went off and I couldn't get it up again and left it in my locker. It started somehow, when I tried after months in the locker.)))

I'm lost, don't know what i'll do.

Greatly appreciate any help from the forum.
